USA 2028- The Rise of Socialism

Recommended Posts

Ok, here's the scenario:

Background

In 2021 the "Gas Crisis" occurs causing a massive fuel shortage in the United States. Buesinesses need to cut jobs in order to pay for shipping expenses. This causes unemployment to rise. The goverment needs more money to pay the unemploymed, so they create a massive tax raise. This causes people to have less money to buy luxeries and therefore buesiness revenue is hurt. This causes buesinesses to cut more jobs, and many are forced to close. America falls into a second great depression. The Democrats win the 2024 election, but soon after experiance a split creating two new parties. The Socialist Party and the Liberal Party. The president elected in 2024 sides with the Liberals. By 2028 the people are very unhappy with their president, James McLenan, and the popularity of the Liberals plummets. It looks as though the Socialist Party is bound to win the 2028 election, but then they too experiance a split, creating the Socialist Party and the Workers Revolutainary Party.

Parties & Opening Polls

  • Socialist Party- Believe in using socialism within a democratic system- 29%
  • Workers Revolutainary Party- Believe in a Communist Revolution- 20%
  • National Socialist Green Workers Party- Nazis- 11%
  • Republican Party- Center to Center-Right- 27%
  • Anti-Socialist Party- A combination of the Constitution & Libertarian Parties and more conservative former Republicans- 13%

i rather like the idea of a futuristic scenario, but some things really make me not want to play it.

first of all, i'm wondering why the national socialist party has the word "green" in the middle of it's name, is ecologism somewhat involved? green parties don't tend to get along with the far right, what changed between now and 2028?

another thing i found a little confusing was the hammer and the sitckle in the socialist logo, i'm sure you do know that that is a communist and not a socialist symbol, and that there is a big difference between the two, in general socialist use roses -or some other red flower- as logos, like the spanish workers' socialist party, the PSF and the german social democrats. i'm sure they would find it offensive to be mistaken for communists.of course, this may have changed by 2028.

also, i find it really unlikely that a party will call itself "anti-socialist", it's not that an anti socialist party can't exist, in fact there are lots of them but they tend to have names like "freedom party", or "national unity party" and such.

by the way, why didn't anyone try to rescue the democratic party brand? i mean, even in such difficult circumstances the word "democratic" tends to move americans, at least a lot more than socialist -maybe exept in vermont- or more so national socialist, and i assume that will contiue to be like that 20 years from now.

from the scenario it striskes me like you don't think much of the left wing in general, and you wanted to make an scenario where ecologists are nazis, democrats are socialists -and by socialists you mean communists- and republicans are the only contemporary american party that will continue to exist 20 years from now.

anyway, all this does not mean that the secanrio can't be entretaining, but i would recommend that you inform yourself a bit more in order to make a richer and more interesting scenario.

good luck.

PS. english is not my mother tongue, so ignore my type-os and satrange grammar.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll change the image of the Socialist Party, and maybe I should re-name it like the democratic socialist party or something. I'll also change the name of the Anti-Socialist Party to the Freedom Party, I will also change it's symbol. Also, The National Socialist Green Workers Party is (or was, I'm not sure if it's still active)

an actual American Party. In case you didn't know the full name of the Nazi Party in Germeny was the National Socialist German Workers Party. The real life party seems to have replaced German with Green. According to Politics 1 Party Guide they did this to atract non-German but still white, support. According to that website they are less of an pro-Aryan party and more of just a white racist party.

i think i may have over-reacted, sorry if i did.

i didn't know there was a green nazi party in america, it's really diffcult to keep track of all the diminute parties there are up there.

anyway, keep making previews of the scenario.

cheers

Ya, I've quit studying because if I read one more word in a text book I swear my head will explode. Anyway, I'm done with the issues and the canidate for the Nazi and Worker's Revolutainary Party. I'm about to start on the Democratic Socialist Party, then I will move on to the Freedom party and will finish up with the Republicans. I should get canidates finished in the next few days. Sorry if it takes a while because I don't have Campagn Forever so I actually have to code it.

I'm done with all the canidates except those for Republican and Freedom

not to be mean but i do believe that i was gonna do the candiates because i spent 1 hour on each party (it took me about 2-3 days) coming up with ages homestates names titles ext whil waiting for u to send the scenario then u decide to do them
