Scenarios in the Planning Stages...

It would still be a hot topic at the time, the election took place 2 months after German Reunification, and there would've been much discussion still whether it was a good thing or a bad thing.

Some more specialised issues:

Economic Balance

Four Power Rights

German/Soviet Relations

NATO

Reunification

German-US Relations

European Union

Industry Help

Government Assets (especially in the East)

Rail and Air Transport (With Lufthansa and Interflug)

The Capital and the moving of government offices (Bonn or Berlin)

The role of the former communist government after Reunification

Economic Development in Berlin

Immigration

Economic Diversification in the East

The Media Reform

Thanks for the help Matvail. I'll take a look and see whether they are strong enough topics on their own. Not sure about Immigration or the need for 2 local economic issues. German-US relations: I would say that's sort of covered in Four Powers Rights. This is where countries like the US signed in agreement on the borders for the new Germany, along with the Soviet Union, France & UK. I would keep Soviet-German relations as their influence is more directly involved in how Germany became reunified and divided beforehand.

I like the other ones though the Capital issue can be shortened to German Capital or Bonn or Berlin?

Also the usual ones like Healthcare, Environment & Law and Order should be in. Education? Maybe. :)

Here is a preview shot of Germany 1990. The seats are constituency only right now. You'll see the Germany map is a little bigger than. So the ridings are finished results wise, but i still need to put in candidate names. I've only started on the actual candidates, but once the ridings are finished it should take too long with everything else.

I've overhauled the list in the initial post into different sections, in no particular order. Active scenarios are in bold.

You will see 2 brand new ones have popped up which are:

Highlands Region Westminster Election 1979(?): Instead of a city, how about a region? It's been an idea for a while, the year is not certain. It's the fact that despite not many seats, they would be held by different parties back then unlike today where it's strongly Lib Dem with only 1 challenger. Some of the seats have been held by all 4 main parties(Con,Lab, SNP, Lib) over the decades.

Glasgow Hillhead By-election 1982: Could do with a by-election before the 1990's. And this is a significant one, which highlights the rise of the newly-formed SDP as leader Roy Jenkins is elected back into the House of Commons, fighting off the Tories and Labour in a close 3-way election.

Update: It's looking like England 2015 will be finished first, i've had to delay Germany 1990, due to finding candidate names. I had some luck though, finding candidate names for the 4 main parties, for all the Hamburg constituencies, but no PDS or other party ones.

For England 2015, since it's part-fictional and having already noticed the differences, i'm thinking of fusing events based on the different candidates, especially for the Tories and Alliance, which could make it a different type of game depending on who you choose. I may do this for Scotland 2015 if successful. This may or may not work in some combinations, due to clashing of same issue stance, but it's worth a try, which is really making the weak candidates weaker and the strong, stronger.

Germany 1990 - ridings finished, just candidate names to be finished. Work done on some candidates but still to work on issues. (High priority)

England 2015 - Ridings finished. 70% of candidates done. Platform, region centres events and endorsers to be done. (High priority)

Eurovision Scenario - On very low priority. Not much progress made.

Labour leadership election 1976 - collected photos of all 6 candidates. Changing seat names as they were in 1976 in ridings. Alot still to do. (High priority)

Gaul 50 BC - The Asterix one. Developing Gaul map for it, may split up into more region, early days but on very low priority. I'm doing this one for my own pleasure admittedly.

After England 2015, i will do either Scotland 2015 or a by-election (decided by poll). Finland 2007 will come after them 2.

Since it's been over a week, since my last update:

Germany 1990 - I'm afraid it might take some more time to wheel this out. I've found all elected candidates from that year, so that includes a majority of CDU/CSU & SPD politicians and a minority of FDP, Greens & PDS politicians. It looks like i will have to apply fictional names on unnamed non-elected candidates. All candidates are finished! Issues applied, statement still to be done, as well as events. Hopefully won't be long, but candidate naming will take some time, only 20% done. (High priority)

Eurovision Scenario - Finished region_variables, plenty more to be done. Low priority.

Labour leadership election 1976 - Issues assigned (only issue names), candidate logos finished, still to do candidate attributes, description etc. Have assigned individual candidate strengths in certain regions, but scores have not been done yet. (High priority)

Gaul 50 BC - Nearly finished map. Was wanting an ancient Gaul map with more regions but will have to do with main regions along with 1 i've added. Unsure how many seats this will have, depends on the number of towns/cities/villages i can find. Candidates, issues, ridings all still to be done. Low priority

Newbury 1993 By-election - Have begun assigning parties to by-election and found end date of by-election campaign. Lot more to do including finding map.

I wouldn't be surprised if i complete Germany 1990 and Labour leadership at around the same time, so stay tuned.

Scenario's next in line:

Definetely Scotland 2015

then

Finland 2007, then ???.

I would really like to see the last Iceland, Netherlands or Spanish general election as maps are available.

Regarding Iceland and the Netherlands, i was going to do them in the order of the last poll, so that would mean Belgium would come first.

However, would it be fair to do a poll on the remaining three? Minus the other German election as, they will come first. Actually, is there demand for another German election after the 1990 one? I have asked about various other possible ones to do, but no interest.

As for Spain, i'm really trying not to include more new scenario's for now, but if the demand is there...

As far as i know, Spain is the only one of the major European nations not to have had an election covered in PMFE/CFE.

We could do with more historical scenario makers, interested in European elections. I hope the non-european elections like India and Iran will come to fruition, i'd like to see more of them.

The European elections i have on high priority, meaning, as well as the fictional scenario's i want to try clear out, with possibly a Nyarai follow-up.

Once again, is it justifiable to have another European poll on the remaining nations only, or do you want all-out war, with France & Spain joining the crew?

Another update:

Germany 1990 - Most of issue statements finished, 50% of Bundestag members in ridings. still some time to go. (High priority)

Eurovision Scenario - Collected photos for all candidates. Finished region flags and party flags, which are just bascially national flags expanded to 101x101. Low priority as usual.

Labour leadership election 1976 - Candidates finsihed apart from platforms. Have finished 3 regions of ridings, and most issue statements finished. (High priority)

Gaul 50 BC - Finished map, still to do region variables etc. (Low priority)

Newbury 1993 By-election - Found a good map based on recent boundaries. From my knowledge little had changed back in 1993. Map finished, lot more left. I'm putting this on medium priority.

Spain would be interesting...Probably election 2004 since it was fairly close, though 2008 was the most recent...

The problem with Spain though is that their elections are really short, like only 2 weeks long at most I think.

A 2 week campaign, interesting, it would remain to be seen how well that could play, the first initial week can be slow, so perhaps events to make things interesting but depends how much changes before and after campaign, or it can be based slightly on the previous election to make it more of a challenge. So are there calls to see Spain or France or shall i continue with Belgium next after Finland?

I'd certainly like to see France and Spain, but also Belgium and Finland. As well as the Netherlands and Iceland. Sorry for not really being decisive there, but I'd eventually like to see them all.

Speaking of Continental European scenarios, I've picked back up Austria 2008 after RL called me away from it for a bit. it should be done shortly.

I'll stick with what i have then, and get on with Netherlands, Belgium & Iceland, the former 2 being very close, and Iceland too, according the previous poll. Haven't done much in the last few days but will get back on it tomorrow.

Spain in the biggest country in Europe not to have its own scenario in P4E or P4ME, as France have a P4E scenario.

I think Spain is easier to do as only two parties (PP and PSOE) have a chance to win even with an MMP system, with other parties being more regional in scope.

Belgium is a big challenge due to the parties linguistic division. Good luck!

The Netherlands is pretty feasible to do as there is not that many ''major'' parties (about 3-4 for about 7-8 parties in total) for a very fragmentary and pillarized political system.

Personally, will the Swedish 2006 or 2010 election (however with many many seats to do in the parliament) will be more interesting to do than Finland?

I'll try my best with Holland and Belgium. We can do Sweden when it comes to another round of Euro elections after the ones on the list.

Well it's a been a slow couple of weeks, so here's screenshots instead:

Labour leadership election: This is unfinished in ridings, with some ridings complete. This focuses on the seat allocation in Scotland.

And this is the Newbury map which i will detail later. I found a really good ward map, but not from the 1993 era though, but there has been little change since then in boundaries. 5 regions with various numbers of seats.

I'm going to release Germany 1990 soon hopefully. I'm going to finish the candidate names in the region i'm on, by that point most of the regions will have names including most of the large regions, and then just work on events, secondary conversion and candidate platforms and release it as the first beta version. Then i will carry finishing the candidate names. The reason it's dragged on for long is, trying to find the constituencies that secondary/non-direct candidates belong to, which can be a drag.

Thanks to the great work EGaffney is doing, i am taking off the 83 and all the 70's UK election off my list, leaving only the 97 election, and you'll see it has "map transfer" next to it. This will simply be the same very good gameplay but on a map with more regions, so it unveils a further breakdown of the vote, showing more of the extent where Labour was harming the Tory vote, particularly in Southern England. This leaves me to concentrate more on the European scenario's. As for non-European elections, i can't manage to get to that yet, with what i have already planned. We have already seen plans for the likes of Japan, India and Iran, so let's see if we will get to play them hopefully.

For the remainder of this year, i may be working slower but hope to finish some more before year is out. I can't make any promises, i just have a wish list of what i would like to see get done. I would like to see at least Scotland 2015, Finland 2007, UK 1997, The Eurovision, Labour Leadership to be finished along with Newbury and another by-election, another one of the career scenario's, the Lib Dem one, and also the Best Non and Best ever PM scenarios. Doubtful we will see another council election done this year. The main concentration will be on European elections after that but i can also gladly say, you haven't seen the last of Kanchelska and Nyarai ;), and perhaps get ready for some more anarchy?

Update

Germany 1990 - Possible further gameplay changes + finishing candidate names. (High priority)

Eurovision Scenario - Party logos finished (basically country flags) and started work on laying out 12 ridings for each country from 12 cities/towns(Low priority)

Labour leadership election 1976 - Still on ridings, sorting percentages (High priority)

Gaul 50 BC - started work on region variables (Very low priority)

Newbury 1993 By-election - Finished party logos and region variables. Ridings laid out, still to sort percentages plus issues candidates... (High priority)

Brand new scenario but on very low priority, an experimental fictional nation scenario codenamed "MONSTER". I loved the idea of it, so wanting to make it.

I will get to Scotland 2015 ASAP!
