Hi everyone,

All update information is posted on the blog ( http://270soft.com/blog ).

This forum is for posts about 270soft games. Posts about politics where it is relevant to the games is fine.

Guidelines

Stay On Topic

Stay on topic on the threads, simple as that.

Offensive content

No offensive content, bad language, etc. If you post something like this corrective action will be taken.

This is not intended to exclude legitimate political debate where appropriate. 270soft reserves the right to define what 'legitimate' political debate means in this context.

If someone is articulating a sincere political view, making rational arguments for it and citing evidence, and not attempting to be inflammatory simply to be inflammatory (which is sometimes tough to judge), then the moderator will probably allow the comment, as long as the thread isn't getting out of hand. If a thread is getting out of hand, the thread will probably be closed.

Advertising Political Sites

If you want to advertise a forum or political site of yours, e-mail us first ( http://270soft.com/contact/ ) and tell us what it is. If we say it's okay, then you can go ahead and post it. We will probably close the thread afterwards.

Finally:

No Personal Ad Hominem Attacks

This requires some common sense.

Not good: "Bob, you're stupid."

Better, but also not good: "Bob, that idea is stupid."

Good: "Bob, I disagree with that idea, and here's why."

Not good: "Bob, you're evil."

Better, but also not good: "Bob, the views you hold are evil."

Good: "Bob, I believe some of the views you hold, if implemented, would make our society worse off. Here's why."

Thanks,

The 270soft Team

What about language in the cobtext of our RPs? For example portraying a white supremacist character? That I know many have gotten away with. This rule seems to be a gray area on that.

Usually, they just re-dressed up an old "koneke/dindu" quote, in those cases, as I recall... :P

If concerned, please contact me and I'll take a look. However, RPs on the forum are not relevant content themselves.

I appreciate the change.  This forum used to be dead before we started talking politics — the common thread that binds us, even when we disagree.  There’s only so much you can say about the game — I’d check in maybe once a year to see if there was an update, instead of multiple times a day to see if there’s an interesting discussion.

Thanks for this - I'll update that guideline. The de facto standards have changed, and I tolerate a significant number of political posts.

The point about not being inflammatory just to be inflammatory holds, though. If someone is doing that, please bring it to my attention.

@admin_270 is there some way we can speak "ex parte"? I have reported a recent example, but prefer not to discuss this in public even though I have "ignored" those involved.

Best way is just to e-mail me. https://270soft.com/contact

I think he wants to become the "power behind the computer chair," on these forums, instruct you on how to run your forums to his personal (and partisan) specifics, and institute purges through you as a proxy of those he dislikes, or sharply disagrees with, personally. At least that was the tenor of his rambling screeds of the two days.

I concur with this. Others have also reacted in ways that would concur with this statement.

Wait, is this an option?  I would like this power too, please @admin_270

(Haha)
