A new scenario is now up:

"Scotland - 2007" - Scotland 2007, by Peter Lucas

You can go to the Prime Minister Forever Updates/Scenarios page to download this scenario.

Please note: this is a third-party scenario - 80soft did not make this scenario.

I played it in PM4E as well and also had some very bizarre poll results. I played as the SNP and was polling at 0 seats in the main window for pretty much the entire game (even though a number of them were marked as having my candidate in the lead when I clicked on "Seats"), then I won 22 on election night.

This is a seriously poor scenario. The leaders are severly out of date, their home regions are totally messed up. Regional platforms are quite frankly appaling, it assumes that the whole of Scotland is composed of Conservatives. (note in real life there is only one Conservative constituency seat out of 72).

It defies all opinion polls. (the tories are DOWN not up). The 'PR' system is pointless as it doesn't work. The endorsers and newspapers are also messed up. Since when did you get the 'Scottish' Daily Record (they are Scottish by default) and they have never ever supported the Conservatives. The author clearly knows nothing about Scottish politics (all the regions are assumed to be anti-independence by default - look at opinion polls - the opposite is true).

The candidates are clearly made up (the official candidates are now made public - or at the least you could have used the same candidates for 2003). On a technical point there are several glitches.

On the plus side, the graphics are good, but I understand they are actually not the author's own work.

So anyone who decides to download this scenario take heed - it will tell you absouloutly NOTHING about Scottish politics, it is biased (but if you are a tory then this will appeal) and finally the 'pr' system is messed up. It would be better just to have the constituency seats on their own.

Sorry to be critical, but the author clearly knows nothing about Scottish politics.

Also, when has Labour or the SNP wanted the enviroment to lag behind the economy? McLetchie is not Scottish Tory Leader. The Tories have agreed to keep the Scotland Act, so the Tories platform position for the Future of Scotland is wrong. When have the Lib Dems wanted Scottish Independance? UKIP would not chuck out all Asylum Seekers. Sheridans positions contratict themselves. "Federated Republic of Europe" and "Full Independance"? Since when has SSCUP wanted the economy to lag behing the economy? There is no position for keeping the status quo in the "Future of Scotland" This is bad

I'm just going to pick my home region to show how out the platform is:

Abortion - no generally in the Highlands people are pro-abortion.

Assylum + Immigration - no most people actually want more immigrants due to shortages of jobs

Businesses - should be "businesses should be taxed fairly"

Council Tax - this is absurd! Most people realise the importance of the council and although they might think it should be less, Highland people would not want it to be abolished!

Crime - get a life! The Highlands is a Liberal area - I don't know anyone who wants to bring back the death penalty

Enviroment - no generally people in the Highlands rate enviroment very strongly

EU powers - what! The EU has little opposition in Highland society, and they have run many succesful ventures in new building schemes etc.

Fishing - yes people are annoyed at EU quotas, but they do not want them to be 'ignored'

Healthcare Centralisation - yes but not to that extent

Hospital Management - too left for once! It should be centre-right

Job Relocation - should be centerist

Open Government - not an issue of great importance up here

Road and Infrastructure - fine but definitions of right and left seem a little mixed up

School Discipline - of no importance whatsoever and yet this is a 'very high profile' issue?!

Senior Citizens - once again your definitions of right and left are mixed up

Size of the Government - how is this 'high profile'

Future of Scotland - completly the opposite - a big SNP target area for that reason

Universities - what! Centre Right - fees for no one. Right - fees for everyone! A very strange position

So, sorry to be further critical... but this is quite frankly appaling.

As the usual with Scenarios from this Person, they are better once you do some serious editting to the fails yourself (I have got simular issues with this Scenario as 'authoritarian' so I corrected them, the positions of the regions and the parties themselves)

After that, the scenario is more playable, either by swamping around some of the issue positions, changing the wording or changing the issue all together.

If you've corrected it please put it up on the site!

PS: I'm not an authoritarian it's just my name. Because it's my name a lot of people assume I am an authoritarian but that's like calling the Nazis socialist because it was in their name! lol

Because he's a conservative duh!

I'm a pretty big Liberal. Does that mean I am going to make a "realistic" Canada - 2006 scenario where Harper, only being Prime Minister for a few months, manages to shatter the Canadian economy, causing every providence turns Liberal, and thus causing them (the Liberals) to save Canada while making far-right issues be something like like "KILL ALL THE CRIMINALS, KILL THEM! KILL THEM ALL! MUAHAHAHHHAHA!!!!"?

There's a difference between you and the creator. Trust me, you just don't want to know about him.

I'm not going to bother trying to defend myself much, because frankly I'm sick of doing so, but the one thing I will say is that authoritarian is Scottish, I'm not, so he would obviously know about local issues in Scotland better than me.

Oh, and yes I am VERY partisan, admittidly.

Extreme Right sent me an early demo which I tried and sent back with comments. I don't remember what I said but I do remember playing it and nearly getting an overall majority as the Lib Dems. The scenrio may have changed as a consequence.

I think it is worth pointing out that any Scottish Assembly scenario with 4 main parties can work well as a game.
