Issues with PM4E after update

Recommended Posts

I've found some remnant issues with the 2006 scenario even after the last update...

- British Columbia Southern Interior is still listed as Southern Interior

- Several of the minor parties candidates are still either wrong or not listed

And a few things that are not really errors, but still kind of make me wonder...

- It's pretty impossible for the Liberals to have the level of decline that they've actually had in this election.

- The Bloc Quebecois are still way too powerful and manage to finish with 67-68 seats way too easily.

- The NDP are way too strong and, without any sort of cheating at all, will finish with 30-40 seats.

- The Green Party is way too strong and frequently get over 20% in ridings that they would never do so IRL...like I've had the Green Party beat Stockwell Day in Okanagan-Coquihalla and get over 20% in BC Southern Interior, Okanagan-Shuswap and Abbotsford.

Hi brianappel,

Thank you for the feedback - can you tell me which minor party candidates you noticed are wrong or not listed?

Thanks,

Hmm...I already changed them, so it's hard to say...

Just go through the ridings file and compare it to the candidate listing on CBC.ca

Hi brianappel,

We used the official Elections Canada list published on January 5th. It's possible that either CBC has it wrong, that we missed something, or that the Elections Canada list wasn't correct when published. If anyone has candidates they are certain are incorrect, please tell us.

Sincerely,

Anthony Burgoyne

This is what I've found so far:

British Columbia

These aren't in alphabetical order:

Okanagon-Shuswap

North Vancouver

Okanagon-Coquihalla

Southern Interior should be British Columbia-Southern Interior

Missing Candidates -

Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge-Mission - Wayne Prante, CAP

Vancouver Island North - James Neufeld, CAP

Skeena-Bulkley Valley - Rod Taylor, CHP - he has 2 stars

Vancouver

Missing Candidates -

Burnaby-New Westminster - James Pepa, Marijuana

Vancouver Centre - Alexander Frei, CAP

Vancouver Centre - Heathcliff Campbell, listed at Nodice as Independent, in-game as Marijuana

Vancouver East - Anthony Trieu, Marijuana

Vancouver-Kingsway - David Ouimet, Marijuana

Vancouver-Kingsway - Connie Fogal could have 3 stars

Vancouver-Quadra - Betty Krawczyk, Independent

Joseph Theriault is listed at Nodice.ca as being in Fleetwood-Port Kells and New Westminster-Coquitlam. I don't know which one is the right riding.

Some of these aren't too important, but you can look at them if you want.

Hi SaskGuy,

Thanks for this - can you tell me where you are getting the information for these candidates? According to Elections Canada, the several I checked from the above list aren't registered as candidates.

Hi SaskGuy,

Thanks again for the info - the Elections Canada list should be definitive. NoDice.ca probably just hasn't updated their lists yet.

The candidates list at Elections Canada is available here

It's from Nodice.ca. I wasn't able to find the candidate list at Election Canada. Some of those missing candidates may actually be leftovers from the 2004 election - I can't be sure.

The Western Block Party

Animal Alliance Environment Voters Party

First Peoples Party

are not listed in the game, yet they are all running candidates.

I've wondered about this too. I think they just decided to run them as Independents since they couldn't have that many parties or something.

They might add them in after the election. There is enough space, but together, they're only running 10 candidates - barely worth the effort to rebuild a ridings file with 308 ridings.

Also, in Portneuf/Jacques-Cartier, the Independant Candidate, André Arthur, should be more rated than it is in the game. According to a poll in Le Soleil (a newspaper in Québec City), he leads in this riding, having 42% of the votes. The closer candidate after that is the Bloc candidate with 28%

Le Soleil.
