directd 0
Best Campaign - Dennis Kucinich over President Bush! 271-268! Easily my favorite game. It was really a tight race and it came down to literally the final state. I never really thought I had a chance when I first started and I was determined to "stick to my guns" on the issues and not back down. It was definitely a memorable campaign and I was so happy after it was over and I won that I wanted to take a picture of it with my digital camera! lol Worst Campaign - Howard Dean losing to Bush: 274-267. OK, this wasn't my "worst" loss but perhaps my most disappointing. Naturally I've lost races by bigger margins (As a third party or playing as McGovern in 72) but this one hurt because I really thought I had a chance to win even though it was definitely not my best campaign. For some reason, I never really got the kind of momentum I usually get when I play. I like to create momentum for my candidate and love making LOTS of foot soldiers in key states. However, for some reason, it just didn't happen for me. It all came down to one state - New Mexico. Even though there were other close states I felt the race would come down to New Mexico so I spent the last 2 days of the race campaigning there and I thought I would win...but...I lost by a single point therefore losing the election. A very tough loss for me. Soooo, does anyone have any memorable campaign stories they'd like to share??
K-uglen 2
I tend to base my success or otherwise on the score entered into the high score, so my best campaigns would be as Reagan and Clinton (around the 60-70 score). Nothing that is admirable like your first one there!
keyzersoze13 0
I ran as myself and destroyed Bush 474-64 and with 54% of the popular vote. I also got 56% of the popular vote running Kennedy vs. Nixon. Nixon only got 39%. I can't remember the numbers, but I lost two close heartbreakers, one to Bush as Howard Dean. It came down to Michigan and I lost it. I also lost to Reagan by only 20 votes as Carter. I had a lot of momentum going into election day, but I couldn't hold on. SSVegeta123243 1
my best was when i ran as fdr and i got like 320 and worst was when i ran as carter and lost to reagan
keyzersoze13 0
Scratch what I said above about my best campaign. I just ran as McGovern and I beat Nixon 270-268! It came down to three key states, Illinois, Kansas, and Maine and I won all three in a really close race. I wound up with 270 electoral votes and 48% popular.
the_rick87 1
i have lost and won games 270-268 so disappointing and so exciting
MattyN 2
In my RPI Campus Election game I won as myself with 57% of the popular vote and ALL 28 electoral votes. It was amazing. I swung the area that was an almost guarunteed win for the incumbent party and I swung the Greek voters at the end. Speaking of which....I need to submit this scenario... SSVegeta123243 1
maybe that was because u played as yourself in a game u created
broadwayboy87 0
Best - Stevenson vs Eisenhower. I won all but 5 states as Stevenson. Worst- I once won the popular vote and had the most e.v.'s as Eugene Debs in 1912, but Wilson still won.
SSVegeta123243 1
kinda like al gore
MattyN 2
It's funny, I actually made myself a weaker candidate than the actual candidate my party fronted and basically the equal of the opposing candidate. He had more Senate experience than me...i.e. he was on the Student Senate....
SSVegeta123243 1
like i said it's not hard to win when your playing as yourself in a game u created
Kerry Edwards for President 2
I beat Bush as Kerry 520-18 with 65% of the popular vote, and won Tennesee as Harry Brown once. I also lost as Teddy Roosevelt in 1912 because a scandal reached level 40.
K-uglen 2
Level 40!! The highest I've seen so far was around 17.
SSVegeta123243 1
i got one at 20 before because i tried to not spin it and let it spin itself (that was dumb)
Tom 0
My best recently (in terms of game play) was as Henry VIII. I won by a mere 6 votes over the minimum (258 when 252 was needed) When I saw I lost Hungary I thought it had cost me the election even though I'd won a tight race in both Austria and Switzerland. But in a surprise-turn-around I beat Calvin by less than 2% in Sweden and it threw the election to me. I won with only 32% of the popular vote (keep in mind that it was a 3 way free for all) but it was a great victory never-the-less. Lutheran is definitely the hardest. As Charles the V I won every country except Norway, Sweden, and the UK. As John Calvin I won everything except France with 50% of the popular vote (again remember that there were three capable candidates running). And as Ivan the Terrible I got everything east of Holy Roman Empire. But this is the first time I've won as a Lutheran. Yay!

Lonewolf 0
My two best victorious campaigns: One was as Jimmy Carter beating Ronald Reagan with something like 280 EVs. Another was as Wes Clark decimating George Bush with over 400 EVs. The one I enjoyed most was as Ross Perot 1992- winning 29% of the popular vote and 228 EVs. The worst was a 1992 campaign defeat as Bill Clinton. Scandal after scandal had me routed at about 180 EVs.
jj_frap 0
My best was in the Quebec 2003 scenario of Prime Minister Forever. I took Mario Dumont of the right-libertarian Action Democratique (even though I'm a socialist-leaning left-liberal IRL), Quebec's 3rd party, and won 31% of the popular vote and 40 seats. Jean Charest of the centrist Liberal Party, who the election IRL, won 25% of the vote and 20 seats. Bernard Landry of the incumbent Parti Quebecois, a centre-left party of Quebec nationalists, won a majority government with 35% of the popular vote, cleaning up Montreal Island and the South Shore as he took 64 of 125 seats. Some leftist from the Union des Forces Progressistes won a single seat on Montreal Island, where I got decimated due to my right-wing candidate's going over like a lead balloon in leftopolitan Montreal. Oddly enough, Charest won the debate with Dumont (me) following close behind, and Landry had a huge scandal going into the last week.
nagylangi 0
The best one and also the one which I enjoyed the most was the 1992 US election with Ross Perot (I played with a friend, arguing about every state, every turn... It took us 4-5 tries, but finally we mastered it: winning the election with Ross Perot, barely with 271 electoral votes. The worst one? Well, 1980 with Carter... Just Leave me Alone! 0
You can actually win with Ross Perot!? Do you have to change the senario or candidate or anything? I thought that I did well taking Kansas and Maine with Ross(dynamism was off).
SSVegeta123243 1
lol i beat bush with al sharpton
nagylangi 0
Dynamism was on... sorry, I forgot to mention , I thought it is obvious. I am not really into the game yet, so youprobably could do even better with Dynamism on. With Dynamism off, not a chance... you might take Maine or some other states (like Idaho, Wyoming, Utah or Kansas), but that's pretty much all you can do. So Dynamism was on, but I did not change anything else. It was a really tough campaign though...
Swing Voter 1
Best ever was one tonight where I beat Reagan in every state, with Mondale and got 70% of the vote! I din't cheat only used the money given me, I just only sent adds to staes where I was down 10 or more points and only spent time in states were I was within 10 points, and It worked! Also I beat Reagan in the debates
