The favoured view for a Republic in Canada is similar to many Parliamentary Republics in a lot of Continental Europe, Israel, India, Singapore, Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, etc. So, basically, the Prime Minister, responsible to Parliament by party confidence, remains the chief executive, and a President replaces the Governor General with some more powers and being elected.
