Breitbart is a major source of news on the right. Can't really understand the political dynamics of the country without having some awareness of the storylines it's covering.

Personally, if I were writing a paper for a university class, I would run an experiment. I would cite Breitbart in a paper, and a news source equally to the left. Then see which one (if any) the grader had a problem with.

"Left/Right" isn't the only factor.  There's also simple accuracy to consider.
