A restaurant is a bad metaphor, despite a bad of posters making a "meal," of it while I was asleep. :P

I think a better analog would be checking into and emergency ward with a bunch of grievous injuries, and the receiving nurse says, "we're short-staffed tonight, due to massive intake. What would you like us to prioritize." I think that analog FAR better indicates my feelings.

My analogy suggests you might apply your analogy to restaurant situations too.

Not really. When I go to eat out, I've already decided what I'm having before I arrive, as surprising as that may be to all present.

But...that IS what ER nurses do.  It's called triage -- taking the most urgent problems first.

I drink coffee, not soft drinks. Soft drinks are low-grade poison. Not as bad of low-grade poison as alcohol, nor tobacco, but definitely with it's own nasty toxicity.

What kind? I used to love Ethiopian but now I drink Sumatran

It's never happened to me yet.

One time my grandma(who was a real cranky old woman) really really really wanted KFC. So she made my grandpa drive her and the group of kids (they had 6, only 4 were along at the time) to KFC. They were really excited about it, about the bucket of chicken they were gonna get, how amazing it was gonna be, how my grandma would be in a much better mood after she ate, it was just gonna be well worth it.

Anyway they get to the KFC, walk inside the building and go up to order. However before they can even speak the cashier tells them "We're all out of chicken right now." My grandma blew up. "What kind of chicken place runs out of beeping chicken! What the beep! How can you possibly be out of chicken!?!?" Safe to say the trip to KFC wasn't worth it after all.

I don't believe a word of it! That's obviously a RURAL LEGEND! :P
