Our horrific governor is doing nothing as we outpace a country 22x our size. No mask mandates. Forcing schools to go back. Bars completely open. Iowa deserves better than this.

Shouldn't this unacceptable level of betrayal and negligent murder demand a mob at the Governor's Mansion and the demand of their immediate resignation and surrender to justice rather than wait until the next election? This Governor has completely violated their mandate to govern - no citizen of the State now owes them any loyalty or only acknowledgement of their authority.

If anyone's interested. Iowa City knew this was coming, yet Gov. Reynolds fought them anyway. Its an interesting read.

Seriously though I feel ya. Parsons is a jack ass. Thankfully mayors in the big cities stepped up at first, but now folded to the pressure of big business.

Across stateline Gov.Kelly has taken COVID seriously but still the numbers in KS are pretty bad.

This article paints a bit of a different picture.

They claim a significant reason for the rise in cases is a new testing procedure. However, it seems there is also a real rise in cases. Mortalities / day have increased a bit from a month ago.

Are there concerns about health care capacity being overrun there?

A bit but thats farther off. A new procedure was implemented, but only accounted for less than 5% of tests from the article I saw this morning. Could also be just horrific state data too, which has been very poor the whole time.

Confirmed by local media that at least the very high (near 80%) positivity rate was because of a previous error of documenting cases. Great job Kim.

Damn Missouri was doing bad then I looked up Iowas stuff and it's even worse. That's bad. Real bad.

Yeah. Iowa City is plain awful - and the city knew that it was coming, that's why they tried to shut down the public schools before the college kids came in. But the governor said no, and now they are where they are. Des Moines, Ames, and Sioux City aren't great either, but they're nothing like Iowa City right now.
