    Im curious what the difference between "Urban Democrats" and "National Democrats" are. 

National Democrats are more big-tent. Their platform isn't very decisive, it's watered down to not terribly offend any segment, and they attempt to appeal to Urban, Rural, and Suburban.

Ah thats what I was imagining. Do you see Obama being an Urban Democrat because of his time being a community organizer in Chicago? Or do you see him as a National Democrat because of his appeal in small/midsize towns across the midwest?

National. I don't think Urban Democrats or Rural Democrats get nominated. Urban Democrats are people like Bill DeBlasio. They'll have 0% appeal in rural areas. Remember, Obama won IA and NC in 2008.
