Actinguy 862
Absolute chaos in the senate today, as Senate Majority Leader William H Crawford took his cane and repeatedly swung at former Vice President William H Harrison as part of an ongoing dispute about the role of tariffs and also over the fact that they both have the same damned name. I’ve awarded Crawford 1 IP, as nobody will dare cross him now. No bonus action.

mlcorcoran 71
@Shamilton Postmaster General used to be a Non-Partisan office, but a card was played at some point in the game that changed it to Partisan, so it now must be taken by a Liberal

By the end of your second term, which I think we can all take for granted, we could have almost $500 million. Isnt it time to defund the National Bank, sir? It was fine for what it was needed for in the beginning, but it seems a bit silly to keep it going now. Isn’t it more within our liberal ideals to not have such a strong entity at the national level? what say you, mr President?

Actinguy 862
I’ve awarded William H Crawford 1 IP for talking you out of it. (I then pulled the Florida statehood card, but it can’t be activated because Indian Removal Act was defeated.) ISSUE TWO 1830 Mr. President, President Ames’s land act of 1826 appears to be paying dividends already. The people of Minnesota request the honor of our hand in statehood. Note that Minnesota will be a stand-alone State for election purposes.
mlcorcoran 71
@Actinguy as an Era C card this also changes the electoral vote numbers for all states, right?

Shamilton 0
@mlcorcoran Polk, would you ask Congress to make Minnesota a state?
mlcorcoran 71
Polk arrives on the Senate floor with a petition from settlers in the land of 1,000 lakes to ratify our 23rd state, Minnesota. Voting is open to all players in any order @swejie @Agent B @Woot @Leuser @Shamilton My faction casts 10 votes Yay
Leuser 16
Aye
swejie 21
These Canucks are trying to infiltrate our borders. Aye, but don't say I didn't warn you
Woot 0
I believe the lands have been lessened by 9000 lakes and twin cities. Aye
mlcorcoran 71
We have enough votes to pass unless @Agent B plans on spending IP for extra Nay votes. That would change the result and we would vote again in order to give all players the same chance to use IP. What say you, @Agent B? It would take 5 IP worth of bonus Nay votes to change the result
Agent B 0
Aye
Actinguy 862
Minnesota statehood achieved, and sheet up to date. Ready for issue 3, @Shamilton?
Actinguy 862
@Shamilton (I first revealed the Mexican American War, but Texas isn’t a state yet so it gets shuffled into the next deck.) ISSUE THREE 1831 Mr. President. It turns out Minnesota is hella cold. Its original settlers have turned south for the winter; and would now like Iowa to become a state. (this would reconnect Minnesota to the other states, for election purposes.) What say you?
