Hardrightconservative
The Routledge Historical Atlas of Presidential Elections is superb and I really recommend it. Using microfilm at the local library is also easy and quite helpful. Any other good election books out there?
johnny_raoul
well, other than resource wise i'd reccomend "the making of the president" series by theodore white - historical docu books, the "1960" one is a must for any pol junkie for fun fiction, can't beat fletcher knebel: Dark Horse Convention Seven Days in May -- all brilliant, even if the women characters are two-dimensional as all hell Washington DC, Burr by Gore Vidal In High Places by Arthur Hailey and if you want to see who really pulls the strings American Tabloid and The Cold Six Thousand - James Ellroy

ElectricMonk
Wanted to add one more book—this one has a lot of statistics and covers 'primaries 76, '80, and '84. It also uses a model to determine objective and subjective chance of winning which may be of particular interest to 80soft itself (if they don't have the book already): Presidential Primaries and the Dynamics of Public Choice by Larry Bartels ETA: Presidential Campaign Discourse by Kathleen E. Kendall, Editor (Especially valuable as it looks at the impact of various elements of the primary—also a superb set of references for each essay)

zion
Is there within that vast bibliography an accurate schedule of the 1976 Dem and GOP Primary and Caucus dates , delegate allowance and results? I have looked all over, there are a few websites with sketchy and conflicting timetables, but nothing on delegate entitlement and no comprehensive list of dates. Started to work on the scenario, but I'm at a pretty crucial stumbling block.
ElectricMonk
You want this thread, where said issues are discussed. Also as it doesn't look like I'll get to 1976 anytime soon you can have the (limited) amount of work I've done on 1976 so far, if you want.
