By what criteria are the "best two" considered? And will the Whigs, Federalists, and Democratic-Republicans, get "bests" in States they had had Senators in in their day?

Approval, accomplishments, legacy, and I may just split it into Conservative and Liberal factions to fit the other parties.

Although I'm not sure I like the idea of generic "liberal" and "conservative." It's highly simplified, unrealistic, and impossible to accurately place every U.S. Senator of significance from U.S. history. I already object to the common parlance of people casually using the two terms like they're omni-representative of all political ideology between them...

The Liberal faction will also include progressives, Blue dog democrats is a toss up for me,I guess it depends on the individual.

But Liberals and Progressives are not the same thing. And Libertarians are not Conservatives, as another good example. The political spectrum is NOT that simple. Bernie Sanders (as another note) is neither a Liberal nor a Progressive, he's a Social Democrat (but NOT a hard Socialist, and certainly not a Communist), and that's different too.

Of course I know they are not the same...and I agree,I hate how its such a broadly, wildy used term to represent the people who arent considered that same ideology, But to just 'Simplify" them and have a head to head matchup (Though it may not be there exact common ideology) I'm using these terms.

Well, then, you're on your own. Maybe someone else will help you with your list of Senators. I'm afraid I disapprove of the setup proposed for this scenario.

I conducted a poll for best Senators for each state in this forum @TheMiddlePolitical. That would give you the two best senators according to everyone one here. It was posted in the general forum. You may have to go back about a year.

Okay thank you I appreciate it, I did have in the back of my mind that you did something involving best senators in the past.
