Pellaken's Tsunami Challenge

Pellaken's Tsunami Challenge

I just spent an hour walking downtown, and an hour walking back.

why?

I went to donate $100 to the red cross for the tsunami victems. on the way back I was thinking... I should issue a challenge

This is one issue where peer pressure is a good thing. I understand some of you may not be able to afford this, I myself am an unemployed student, but I urge everyone to look serisouly at donating what they can. I know one guy who donated $4000. if I sold everything I have and added everything in the bank, I wouldent have even $4000! I'm not trying to pick on anyone who truly cant afford to make a donation, but I do want everyone to seriously see if they can beat me.

the challenge is to, yourself, donate $100 to the tsunami victems, or more. if you've done so, and please be honest, post here that you have.

may god help the victems.

I gave $450 to AmeriCares. I've donated to many cheritable causes within the brief years of my adult life, and I will highly recommend to anyone, if you are going to give to a cherity, research them first via the BBB website (www.bbb.org) to see if they are reputable.

I discourage all I can giving to the American Red Cross. They are horrible with money, and of the $450 I gave, only about $200 would go directly to the victims. I know there's always overhead, but the way the American Red Cross divies it up is pretty pathetic and almost a slap in the face.

AmeriCares is pretty good, and I checked them out. They have a good track record with less than 5% of your donation going to administrative and overhead costs, where as ARC is close to 40-50% depending on how much you give.

But please, everyone has a few bucks laying around, and that's all it takes. If every American gave at least one dollar, that'd be enough to rebuild every home destroyed by this tragic event.
