What power would he have to reform the EU?

I assume the only remaining nuclear power (after the UK leaves) in the EU has some power to negotiate. If France leaves, the whole thing comes crashing down (a very bad thing, in my opinion; the EU, while obviously not flawless, has been very good overall) AND the EU, if it somehow still manages to survive, will be left without the protection of nuclear deterrence.

The EU has facilitated terrorist attacks and the flood of refugees that are harmful to some parts such as areas of Germany.  Germany is still in the EU and would still have lots of say.  The EU has also lead to the removal of national sovereignty.  The Common Market was a great idea designed to bring Europe together after a series of wars.  But, the bureaucracy has grown and is now trying to become the United States of Europe.  The only way the EU survives is if it gives up a lot of its power and goes back to its foundation (something like the Common Market).  But, that will not happen because the people in the EU want more power.

Just saying I change my vote to Fillon.

Now that I found out a little more about him.

Even after the nasty scandal?

I'd switch to Nicolas Dupont-Aignan (He's more extreme than Nigel, but less extreme than Le Pen).

Maybe I'm just used to corruption because of De Blasio.

As a Social Liberal French I would make you smile but I was asking myself during our presidential election if we would not get Marine le Pen like America got Trump because our electoral campain was totally insane.

It started with this:

photo_2016-10-26_18-47-03.jpg

Our president which has an approval rate of 13%.

Then cme the others candidates...

Jean Luc Mélenchon: The man who has 500 000 members and some holograms and who became a star on youtube (take a look at his subscrivers...) https://www.youtube.com/user/PlaceauPeuple

Benoit Hamon: The Socialist rebel from the Left, for a strong ecology and an universal payroll for every citizen

Emmanuel Macron: The young minister of Economy who has launched his centrist movement and who was for 47% of the French the same as the last Hollande Government while 70% of french told they wanted change, (Benoit Hamon who was the candidate for the party of Hollande was the same as Hollande for only 21% in comparision).

François Fillon: The Tatcherist in chief who wanted HUGE TAX REDUCTIONS (of 220 billions, imagine, it for USA with 2200 billions of tax reduction in example, almost the same as Trump wants) and the suppression of the high tax for the richest.

Nicolas Dupont Aignan: A false gaullist and a conservative guy.

Marine Le Pen: No need to devellop

Then we got all the little candidates, Jacques Cheminade who want to go to Mars and clean up the sea, François Asselineau the man who has for only promise to pull out the European Union AND ONLY THAT, and finally Jean Lasalle...

On economy?

France has 2,9% of deficit, we have not balanced the book since 1973

The proposals?

Macron: 2,9% by 2017

Mélenchon: LET'S BORROW 100 BILLIONS TO DO A KEYNESIAN RELAUNCH MWHAHAHAHAHAA

Hamon: 77 billions in expense for the universal payroll

Marine Le Pen: I do not know how much I want to spend I can not dress an economic plan....

Fillon: 77 billions too (but for tax reductions not universal payroll)

Nicolas Dupont Aignan: I do not know (in more he created fake promises in his program to reach the 500 he promised).

The others did not have, as I said some like Asselineau were just there to pull out the EU.

And finally let's reach the worst point of this french presidential campain... and let me use a video for the them

THE MILITARY SERVICE

What is it?

A beautiful thing: every man who has 18 years old goes to learn how to be a good soldier.

During centuries (1798-1996) the french at 18 had to pass between 6 months to 3 YEARS (before the WW1) in the army.

In 1996 the French President Jacques Chirac realized it was an idiot thing, because it was costing a loooot of cash. So since the army is profession and the military service is suspended, Macron for example used it to not pass his military service.

With the last attacks in Europe the idea of putting back the military service become popular quickly and hence...

Jean Luc Mélenchon: I want a civil-military service of 9 MONTHS by CONSCRIPTION payed at 1300 DOLLARS PER MONTH for those between 18 AND 25 YEARS.

Emmanuel Macron: I want a military service of 1 month for those between 18 and 21 years.

Jean Lasalle: I want a military service

Marine le Pen: I want a military service of 3 months

Even if France has serious problems of cash and that it was not possible to seriously reduce deficits with such promises.

Macron just realized it lastly so now they try to retard this ridiculous measure which would cost 45 billions on 5 years for a month of military service by year.

The election became so low than the main candidates (excepted Le Pen) came to a school to teach politic to children of 8 years:

610043537001_5362766859001_5362767625001

And finally the 1st round:

Mélenchon with his game (Fiscal Combat) and his internet strong campain crush Hamon the Socialist but do not reach the first turn (if you want to play to Fiscal Combat: http://fiscalkombat.fr/)

Fillon, the man who was our President according to the polls since 4 years (the Right should win) was beaten due to the Penelope's scandal, while François Fillon gives 1 million of euro to hiw wife during his years at the national assembly to his wife for nothing.

And the second turn was played for two things:

1st: France is anti-far right since ever

2nd: The excellent prestation of Marine le Pen during the Presidential debate who was looking as the student you know who did not learned her lessons before her exam in front of the best student of the class...

Finally a divided France came out from this Presidential Election, and the legislatives showed this:

tumblr_ore3zj9ghg1slzegfo2_r1_1280.jpg

In grey those who did not come to vote for the MPs of the National Assembly, in color all the others parties.

I voted for Benoit Hamon (the Socialist candidate) by elimination, but in a conversation I said that if I could, I would have vote to keep Hollande 10 years compared to the political offer of our 2017 election -_-.

The only interest of this election was to create a lot of songs which are still popular like this one:

@Sami

I agree with your analysis of the debate.  Le Pen, while strong when speaking about the EU and terrorism, look unprepared when the topic changed to anything else.  Although, she did have the best comment about a woman ruling France after the election.

I just looked at the debate and Le Pen made no sense on economic issues she seemed to be calling for two currencies but refused to admit it.

Unrelated, but I think I read somewhere on the site that there's going to be something official for France 2017 coming in the future? Will it be a standalone, or a campaign for one of the other games? Either way would be fun.
