johnny_raoul 0
somebody thought a sequel would be neat, so - since I'm not doing anything but listening to soccer via RealAudio (Chelsea v. Norwich, then at noon, Manchester United v. Crystal Palace), I've decided to give it a go (since the World Map Cold War thing is stalled w/ map errors at the moment) idea so far 2012 - The Driver After thier shock victory in the 2008 elections, the Progressives added to thier gains and became the majority party in Congress. However, health issues have forced the popular imcumbent to decline re-nomination. Can the Democrats or the GOP regain their former glory and take back the White House? something like that thinking of adding a fourth party candidate as well, along the lines of a Ross Perot hmmmm
johnny_raoul 0
candidate suggestions welcome and encouraged, btw
dems4america 0
Who holds the White House from 2008-2012 at this point? (aka, what is the incumbent party)
johnny_raoul 0
The Progressives would be - assuming you won in the '08 scenerio default Prog ticket was Bob Kerrey/Christine Whitman, so I will make Whitman the incumbent VP and default nominee Leaning toward Lindsey Graham as the GOP default and Barak Obama as the Democratic
dems4america 0
Progressives: Christine Whitman, Lincoln Chafee, Russ Feingold, Matt Gonzalez Republicans: Mark Sanford, Lindsey Graham, Condi Rice, Sam Brownback, Jeb Bush Democrats: Barack Obama, Tom Vilsack, Gavin Newsom, Mary Landrieu, Mark Warner, Rod Blagojevic

MattyN 2
Wow! This is awesome, I suggested a sequal and I'm so excited to see it in action
johnny_raoul 0
gonna add State's Rights as an issue as well the idea is the Supreme Court is hold-over conservatives from the Dubya era and are making rulings contrary to the general pulse of the nation - ie, reveresed Roe v. Wade, serious curtailing of Affirmative Action et al, gay marriage, medical marijuana, physician assisted suicide, that kind of thing and the debate has become how much rights individual State's have v. the Federal government the economy will be strong and peace and prosperity will reign gonna be a toughie for either a Dem or a Repub to win, I think should the 4th party candidate be a bitter liberal or a raving right winger?
MattyN 2
Hmm...why not both? Leave it as an "Independent" and input both a right wing and left wing kook Independent candidates with ~1% nationally...with their highst support in more populous states and states like Maine/Alaska that just seem to like third...or in this case 4th party candidates. For 2012, ideas for candidates: Republican - Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, Condolezza Rice, Colin Powell, (ya never know at that point), Michael Reagan, Bill Owens Democratic - Barack Obama, Eliot Spitzer (who I predict becoming the next NYS governor), Tom Vilsack, John Edwards (the comeback kid), Bill Richardson Right/Left Wing 4th Party Candidates - Jason West (Green - New York), Rev. Creighton Lovelace (Constitution - SC, why not ), Roy Moore (Constitution - Alabama), Ronald Reagan, Jr. (CA? - Independent...unless he became a Progressive and uses the family name to help his political career...) johnny_raoul 0
good call Matty want to make the 4th party a tad stronger though, which would entail doing two or three electoral_trends folders ..... the GOP are, say, becoming too "liberal" for the religious right and a popular televanglist is running as a protest candidate, attracting broad support in the midwest and southern states or the Democrats are becoming too "conservative" for the liberal wing and a popular celebrity is running as a protest candidate, attracting broad support in the northeastern and pacific states..... copy and paste, why not? no rule saying every scenerio must have one set of electoral_trends, is there? johnny_raoul 0
i changed one, Civil Liberties to Broadcast Standards @issue position descriptions // left to right, 1 - 5 //Reproductive Rights Unrestricted access to abortions. Roe vs. Wade should still be the law. Abortion only for rape or incest; adoption should be encouraged. No legal abortions. Abortionists should face the Death Penalty. @ //Minority Preferences Preferences needed to ensure equal access and oppourtunity. Preferences should be granted where discrimination is proven. Preferences should be left up to individual States. Preferences deter average Americans from seeking advancement. Preferences are unconstitutional intrusions into the law. @ //Budget Surplus The Surplus should be used to pay off the debt. Tje Surplus should be put into social welfare programs. The Surplus should saved for possible emergencies. The surplus should be invested in the private sector. The Surplus should be refunded to the tax payer. @ //National Holidays Add more holidays, minimum one 3-day weekend a month. Holidays to honor Native Americans and American Culture only. We have enough holidays now. We have too many holidays. Bah-Humbug! Holidays are bad for business. @ //The Supreme Court Jusitces should be limited to 8 year terms. Justices should have to retire at age 72. Justices should be elected, like politicians. Justices should continue to serve for life. Justices should be replaced by religious leaders. @ //Ecology The environment must be our first national priority. Good environmental policies are good economic policies. Balance environmental policies with sound economic policies. Economic policies must come before environmental policies. The environment is fine, we don't need to worry about it. @ //Education More Federal funding is needed for college scholarships. The school year should be lenghtened. Education must be our nations top priority! Schools recieve enough funding now. The Education system should be privatized. @ //Jobs Workers deserve better benefits and longer paid vacations. Business should share profits with workers more eqaully. The American workforce is the best in the world! Tax cuts for business and the wealthy will create more jobs. Fewer jobs keep salaries down and increase corporate profits! @ //The Middle East We should press harder for democratic reforms! We should build on our diplomatic success. We should use trade as leverage for political reform. We should not have sold-out Israeli interests! We should invade the Middle East and take thier oil! @ //State's Rights States must obey Federal Law. States have specified constitutional rights. States laws should trump Federal laws, if the people wish it. States have specified constitutional rights. States must obey Federal Law. @ //Broadcast Standards Expression must not be restricted, no matter how offensive to some! The media should be more senstive about what they air. You can always change the channel if you don't like what is on! The media must be more responsible for what they air. The media are a cesspool of pornographers and should be imprisoned! @ //Homeland Security We should surrender to the militia groups! We should respect the militia groups and negotiate compromises! Domestic terrorists are the greatest threat to America. We should arrest the militia groups leadership and execute them! The Militia groups are right, we should back their Civil War! @ //Military Spending We should drastically reduce military spending. We should look to make military spending more effecient. We should continue to fund our military in case of emergency. Military spending should be increased. Military spending should be drastically increased. @ //Personal Tax Increase income tax for everyone. Increase income tax for the rich. Reduce income tax for lower- and middle-class tax brackets. Reduce income tax across the board. Reduce income tax for the rich. @ //Public Health Care We need a completely public health care system. Universal health care, whether public or private. Public health care benefits for the poor and elderly, the rest private. Only a few public health care benefits. The health care system should be completely private. @ //Renewable Energy Renewable energy all the way! We should focus on renewable energy sources. Renewable and non-renewable energy must be equally researched. Coal and oil are our main concerns right now. We don't need to worry about renewable energy sources. @ //Social Security Private savings accounts have been a fiscal disaster! Private accounts need to be given more time. Social Security seems fine as it is. More private investment. Abolish govenment funding altogether. @ //International Relations We should expand on our current diplomatic success! International relations are important to our nation and economy. We should not sacrifice our interests to further international ties. We should only further ties when it is to our national advantage. We should not concern ourselves with the world's opinion of us. @ @end
