Kerry Edwards for President 2
Oh, sorry, I forgot. TR, La Follette, and Perot don't count. It has to have a party establishment of 3! or less.

johnny_raoul 0
prior to one of the updates, you couldn't win diddly squat / a green or liberatarain I once tried to win one state, one single state w/ a green and was polling ahead (2004 btw) until election day then somehow dropped 36 points to finish a distant third haven't tried since
SSVegeta123243 1
that kinda makes sense in real life a good number of people considering to vote for a third party end up voting with the 2 major parties i remember back in 2000 nader was suppose to get 5% of the vote and ended up with like
cycloneprime 1
Actually, what I learned in my last term class on Elections (that was the name of the course), strategic voting (voting for somebody else because your candidates doesn't stand a chance) is used by only about 5% of the population. Just some info I wanted to share
SSVegeta123243 1
i highly doubt that this year the goal of almost all liberals and democrat was to get bush out and i'm pretty sure majority of kerry voters would have voted for anybody running against bush
cycloneprime 1
yeah... but that's not strategic voting (which we were talking about). Strategic voting is really to vote for another candidate than your first choice, because you don't believe he has a chance. For exemple, a pro-Nader voting Kerry (assuming he could have vote for Nader in his state).
SSVegeta123243 1
oh i saw strategic voting as voting for a candidate that u don't necessarily support just to make sure another candidate doesn't win
cycloneprime 1
No, because that (voting for the less bad option) is still voting for the best choice. So, all that to say: in reality, strategic voting (as I described in previous posts) is pretty rarely used by the electors. Of course, some events may bring the percentage higher or lower, but generally it's about at 5%
SSVegeta123243 1
No, because that (voting for the less bad option) is still voting for the best choice.even if u think another candidate is better? isn't that not voting for the best choice?
cycloneprime 1
QUOTEÂ No, because that (voting for the less bad option) is still voting for the best choice . even if u think another candidate is better? isn't that not voting for the best choice? That's what I meant. That (this word, "that", refers to voting for the less bad option) is still voting for the best choice. You just misunderstood my sentance (or I wrote it badly, take your pick). Strategic voting is really voting for your second-choice, because you don't believe voting for your number 1 will allow him to get elected anyways.
SSVegeta123243 1
alright i get u i was just asking u to elaborate your point but i get it i still disagree on that 5% number and i'm pretty sure i could find facts to disprove it but i'll let it go there
cycloneprime 1
Like I said, that's what I got in my course about the elections. Also, like I also said, it may vary from country to country and from time to time, but generally speaking, it is around that, or lower.

Kerry Edwards for President 2
In 2000, I just got 28% of the vote, plus winning Wyoming and Alaska, causing a 266-266 tie between Gore and Bush (Gore won). In 20 states, I was behind by just 5% and under. Oh, and I won as Perot with 40% of the vote and 360 EVs.
