Conservative Elector 2 338
Hi, I just wanted to let you know, that I'm planning a speculative 2020 Scenario with Rubio as incumbent president. Mike Lee will be his VP. They defeated Hillary Clinton and Deval Patrick in 2016. As basis for this scenario I'll use a game I recently simulated (results are under the given link). This scenario won't be related to my Cheney series. I can't promise when it will be released, as I've to do other projects at college as well. Perhaps the very first Version is ready tomorrow or not until next week. We'll see. If anyone plans such a scenario too, feel free to do so http://imgur.com/OxWrNtW Any feedback (especially candidate suggestions) is welcome. Thanks! Luki
warren2016 0
Like the idea for sure. I don't however really see Mike Lee being much of a realistic VP possibility for Rubio.
Conservative Elector 2 338
Yeah that's a point I've considered too, but he chose him. So I give them a try.

Patine 514
Are you planning on having Kanye West fulfill his announcement at the VMA awards of running in 2020 in your scenario?
Conservative Elector 2 338
Not sure (cause I don't believe he's serious about that)... But perhaps with 1% in all states. In addition at this time it's difficult to say where he will get ballot access if any. We'll see
Patine 514
I hate to say it (as I'm no big fan of his), that percentage MIGHT be higher if there's no other African-American candidates or other candidates who OBVIOUSLY connect with the African-American community (at least the majority of it), Although I wouldn't say racial bloc voting is a thing, crowds in modern US politics are more easily swayed by emotion and catch-phases than the more thoughtful and critical voters of US elections past... Conservative Elector 2 338
How many %s would you think is realistic? I don't think he can get over 5%. That's actually another problem I thought of, cause it's difficult to say what's realistic... Another thing I'm not sure about is: who could be his VP?
Patine 514
Another celebrity? I'm not really sure on that one...
Conservative Elector 2 338
I could think of Kim Kardashian, but honestly I think that would hurt his credibility.
Patine 514
I believe a relative by blood or marriage as a running mate is forbidden by electoral law in any case, a law I believe was made by a then-Republican-dominated Congress in 1962 to stop JFK and RFK being on the same ticket for a postulated 1964 re-election bid that of course never happened (who, because of Robert becoming a New York Senator) already had evaded the same-state limit. beargrowlz 0
Other good candidates would be: Andrew Cuomo Russ Feingold (may be back in the Senate by then) Claire McCaskill Gina Raimondo Primary challenge from Michael Steele Celebs: Coach K of Duke Robert Kraft Charles Barkley
Conservative Elector 2 338
@Patine Thanks for those information. @beargrowlz Thanks for the suggestions.
Conservative Elector 2 338
Update: I started working on the scenario. I only made a few adjustments (years, titles, etc.) yet and listed the candidates in a new way (Warren, Booker, Castro, Coumo and of course Rubio as first of his party). In addition I set Mike Lee as the only VP choice for Rubio.
Conservative Elector 2 338
@beargrowlz Would you suggest those celebs as VP options for Kanye or as individual independents or democrats?
beargrowlz 0
Barkley might slap Kanye. LOL Kraft/Coach K would be a fun indie ticket I think.
Conservative Elector 2 338
Ok I see.
jvikings1 43
It would be fun to play as Urban Meyer or Nick Saban.
warren2016 0
I've read that given the success of Trump, other billionaires are pondering running in 2020. Something to think about and look in to
beargrowlz 0
Barkley is an interesting guy. Very smart and understands politics, he was a Republican and was going to run for Governor of Alabama earlier this century. When Obama ran for president though, Barkley supported him, but I don't know if he actually changed parties. I could certainly see him in office some day.
Conservative Elector 2 338
Update: Most candidates are added. I think the scenario will be tomorrow or on thursday ready.
Prometheus 3
Hi I just downloaded your scenario and although I like the general setting, I think that you clearly overpowered the Republican candidates especially Rubio. Furthermore I think that you should look at some of the Democratic candidates. John Kerry would be 77 on election day, Warren would also be quite old. I would also find it interesting if you would add a "Socialist" party where candidates like Sanders etc could run as an independent.
Conservative Elector 2 338
Thanks for that! I'll have a look on that, but I thought Rubio would have something like an incumbent boost... I let some other Republicans in the game, for the purpose you want to simulate a scenario where Rubio's stepping down. But I would recommend to turn them not on... The idea about the socialist party sounds good to me. We'll see.
Conservative Elector 2 338
BTW some unrealistic things happened in the sim I used for this game. Rubio won Massachusetts, while losing his home state Florida and Clinton won North Dakota...
