vcczar 1,227
Ok here's the rules: 1) Pick a party: Democrat, Republican or Independent 2) Pick a state: 3) Pick a possible VPs: 4) Pick your stats: 5) Pick your platform, according to the platform descriptions in the game For stats, you have to: have one 2, two 4s, and the rest 3's or two 2s, three 4s and the rest 3's Here I am: 1) Democrat 2) Texas 3) Dennis Kucinich, Alan Grayson, Sherrod Brown, Deval Patrick, Joseph Kennedy III, Elizabeth Warren, Julian Castro, Bernie Sanders, Jon Huntsman (if he'll switch parties) 4) Stats: Leadership - 3 Integrity - 4 Experience - 2 Issue Familiarity - 3 Charisma - 3 Stamina - 3 Debate - 4 5) Platform: Immigration: Center-left (although, I'm really far-left) Taxes: Center-left (although, I'm really far-left) Health Care: Left (although, I'm really far-left) Government Spending: Left Military Intervention: Center-left Role of Government: Left Corruption: Center Defense Spending: Left (although, I'm really far-left) Social Security: Left Unions: Left Free Trade: Left Iran: Left Education: Left War on Terror: Left Abortion: Center-left (although, I'm really far-left) Same-Sex Marriage: Left (although, I'm really far-left) Gun Control: Center (although, I'm really far-left) Energy: Center-left (although, I'm really far-left) Environment: Center-left So that's my political platform, which is a compromise of my idealistic values; however, idealism doesn't win election. I'd campaign with this platform. Most of my projects will be paid by decreasing military spending, rather than by raising taxes. My main initiative would be improving our domestic infrastructure, which would create jobs, allow for faster and quicker mobility of products, services and goods. Research for medical and science would be increased. I'd probably increase military research to find ways of cutting the military without reducing the effectiveness of it. Some education funding will go to researching the best methods for education. Basically, my focus would be on domestic issues. I'd vow to serve only one-term.
Patine 514
Wow! A Democrat from Texas. I thought you guys were a dying breed. Kind of like LBJ (though he was a LOT more hawkish, but quite socially and economically liberal, for his day). Unfortunately, I'm from Canada in RL myself, and thus wouldn't be certain what protocol to use (especially regarding home state) to actually participate here.
European Qoheleth (SANC) 32
I'm from Ireland but I like to play as myself. Independent from New York (I was conceived there). VP is Mike Michaud. I know he's a Democrat but I can't think of any independent I would like. Leadership - 4 Integrity - 4 Experience - 3 Issue Familiarity - 4 Charisma - 2 Stamina - 2 Debate - 3 Platform (I would run based on what my policies are, and would probably be slaughtered). You're all going to think I'm nuts I bet. Government Spending: Centre Health Care: Far-Left Immigration: Left Military Intervention: Centre Role of Government: Left Tax Rates: Centre-Left Defense Spending: Centre-Left Iran: Centre-Left Education: Far-Right Free Trade: Left Social Security: Far-Left Unions: Centre War on Terror: Left Corruption: Centre Same-Sex Marriage: Centre-Right* Abortion: Right Energy: Left Environment: Left Gun Control: Left * Yes I do know that Mike Michaud is gay. vcczar 1,227
@Patine There's actually a lot of Democrats in Texas. The major cities - Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, generally vote Democrat. The counties boarding Mexico vote Democrat. Everything else is mainly Republican, and the suburbs as well. I live in Austin, which might as well be Seattle or Portland. Texas also has a lot of Libertarians. The Democrats in Texas are split many ways: Conservative Democrats, mainly people who should be Republicans or used to be Republicans, but they dislike the Tea Party, anti-gay, hyper-religious influence in the party. They're usually fiscally conservative and more open to right-wing positions on guns. Then there's Hispanic Democrats who are very liberal in everything but religious matters. Then there's progressive Democrats, who like Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Dennis Kucinich. Some of the progressives oddly ally with Ron Paul and Libertarians. I haven't really met any middle of the road Democrats. They're generally these groups: centrists, immigrant (children of immigrants) and progressives. Texas could be a toss up state in ten years. But right now they're having a hard time finding good Democratic politicians to represent the growing demographic. Julian Castro might be the only real option. Wendy Davis wasn't/isn't a good pick for Texas.

VanMav 0
I don't like the left to right scale in the game. I'm definitely more right than left, and would be much more at home in the GOP, but I'm probably more pragmatic than much of the options provide for. I'd probably be in lockstep with Jeb Bush on most issues (except immigration). As far as home state is concerned let's just go with Texas, cause yeehaw. My pick for VP would be Kelly Ayotte. vcczar 1,227
Ayotte would be a good VP choice for a Southern Republican
VanMav 0
I really like Ayotte, she's smart and capable and moderate. I hope she gets shortlisted if a moderate wins the GOP nomination, even if it means they might lose a senate seat.

jerifan2004 0
Mines pretty close to real life for me.. I am a dissatisfied Democrat because until recently my party (Democrats) were too chickensh** to defend a womans right to choose and stand up for equality for the LGBT. With a few obvious exceptions (Kennedy for one)
vcczar 1,227
You don't have a bad platform, but I feel like Bernie Sanders would be too different from your platform to accept an offer as VP

This way, we will start to pay off our debt which will allow more funds to stay with the government. I would do this by cutting spending. This will be done by privatizing healthcare which will allow major cuts to be made there. I also want to privatize the postal-service because of the annual deficit. I would also want to establish a flat-tax at 15% for all people and businesses. This will lower unemployment and jump-start the economy. I will not raise the minimum wage during my term because it hurts economic growth and those jobs should not be lifetime jobs. We will cut aid to countries that hate us. I will recognize Israeli control over the West Bank, Gaza Strip, East Jerusalem, and the Golem Heights. We will move our embassy to Jerusalem and recognize it as Israel's capital. I would also push to make abortion illegal except in the cases of rape and incest or if the mothers life is at risk. I would also cut all funding to planned parenthood. I also want to abolish the department of education while giving power to the school districts. I would also like to give waivers to everyone, so they can go to any school in the state. I will tighten boarder security, but I will allow the illegals that are here to stay, but they will not become citizens. They will have to wait in line.
