gopprogressive
//Crime Minimal sentencing for criminals. Establish civilian review boards and diversity training for police offices. Rehabilitation and prevention, not punishment for criminals. Oppose racist "law and order" hysteria. Tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime. Put 100,000 more police officers on the street. Create new elite gendarmerie squads, and harsher sentencing for violent criminals. Support a "Three strikes law." Increase police surveillance and detention powers. Suspend due process and resurrect the death penalty. @ //Economic Development Santos needs an "Alternative Economic Strategy" of a planned economy, autarky, and a tariff wall. Focus on development of industry through protective tariffs. Prioritise domestic production and needs. Promote sustainable development and a "green" diversified economy. Aim for a trade balance. Pursue economic development through free trade and open markets. Promote export industries and tourism. Supply-side economic policies will bring about economic prosperity. Seek to attract foreign capital at all costs. @ //Environment The environment always comes first. Raise taxes on pollution and rubbish collections. Environment is a priority. Increase environmental standards and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We must protect the environment. Support more recycling and tax incentives for being eco-friendly. Open to environmentalism, but not an important issue now. We have more pressing matters at hand. The environment is fine, cut down on recycling services to save money. Stop eco-bureaucracy. @ //Jobs The masses deserve a socialist command economy to create jobs and eliminate unemployment. Support living wage legislation along with a public jobs program. Protect worker and union rights. Support greater public funding for infrastructure and promote public-private investment in new industries. Free trade, tax cuts, a more flexible labor market, and debt reduction will renew our economy. Santos needs massive tax cuts, deregulation, and union-busting to promote economic growth. @ //Language Special rights for Spanish-speaking populations, while French should be our official language. Special regional language rights should be applied. Increase bilingual standards. French and English should be the predominant languages. Allow some multi-lingual services. Allow provinces to end bilingualism if they don't need it. Promote English language use. English should be the only official language. Remove compulsory bilingualism. @ // Monarchy Abolish the Monarchy and Aristocratic titles. Move towards a full Republic. Replace the Monarchy with a directly-elected President with veto powers. The Monarchy is outdated and needs to be relegated to a purely ceremonial role. Grant the Monarchy increased veto powers and a greater role in foreign affairs. Make Parliament an advisory body. Restore Absolute Monarchy. @ //Moral Issues Expand abortion laws to cover entire pregnancy term. Legislate same-sex marriage. Defend the 24-week abortion limit. Grant civil partnerships equal rights as marriage. Free vote on abortion, but favour a 20- or 22-week limit. Maintain civil partnerships as is. Restrict abortion to rape, incest or when mother's life is danger. Repeal civil partnerships law. Criminalise abortion, resurrect anti-sodomy laws, and roll back the "permissive society." @ //Terror Laws Seek to combat the root causes of Terrorism. Repeal Islamophobic laws and curb police powers. Restore due process for terror suspects. Combat terrorism without compromising liberties. Current security measures are sufficient. Imprve efforts at defeating terrorist groups. Increase detention period for terror suspects to 180 days and greater police surveillance powers. Terror suspects are scum. Enable security forces to execute terrorists on sight. @

gopprogressive
//Alexandria Relations Work with the Communist and Islamic blocs to curb Alexandrian influence and power. We should stand up to Alexandrian imperialism. No to any Alexandrian military bases. We should maintain our friendship and ties to Alexandria, but be mindful of our sovereignty. Pursue deeper integration with Alexandria. Support Treaty of Alliance and military bases. All Hail Emperor Edgard II! We should seek to become a Crown Colony of Alexandria. @ //Binge Drinking Nordic-style government monopoly to ensure responsible drinking. Encourage a more moderate, continental-style drinking culture. Alcohol is a perfectly acceptable part of our society society. Alcohol abuse is a serious problem. Deny drunks emergency medical treatment. Alcohol is a threat to our society. Restrict access to it. @ //Development Central planning to restructure economy along environmentally friendly lines. Reverse globalization. Focus on development of a manufacturing industry through protective tariffs. Fair trade not free trade. Promote a diversified economy with a focus on "knowledge industries". Aim for a trade balance. Pursue economic development through free trade and open markets. Promote agriculture and tourism. Supply-side economic policies will bring about economic prosperity. Seek to attract foreign capital at all costs. @ //Drugs Legalise and regulate all drugs including opium, cocaine and "club drugs." Legalise cannabis. Decriminalize drug possession and set up methadone clinics. Keep cannabis at Class B. Increase public awareness of drug problems. Reduce social tolerance of drugs. No clinics or benefits for drug addicts. Reclassify all drugs to Class A. No tolerance of drug abuse. Declare a War on Drugs. @ //Education Large investment in education. Nationalise all private schools and colleges. More funding for schools, especially ones in capital investment programmes. Reduce class sizes. Redirect resources to help the neediest pupils. Limit growth in education spending. Increase standards and school competition. Education is best provided by the private sector. End free university fees. @ //Environment The environment comes first. Equal rights for animals. Implement eco-taxes on pollution. Protect the environment through stronger regulation. Promote animal welfare. Support incentives for clean energy, some animal rights, and pollution prevention. Relax environmental standards and regulations. The economy comes first. Global warming is a hoax. Oppose radical animal rights agenda. Stop eco-bureaucracy. @ //Financial Crisis Neo-liberal capitalism is dead. Permanent bank nationalisation and salary caps. Nationalise banks and retain public ownership until end of recession. Control salaries. Reorganise the financial sector to isolate bad loans and prevent another collapse. Guarantee savings only. Let private banks stay in private hands. Keep interference minimal. Maintain private ownership and rescind the bailouts. Let the bad banks fail. @ // Healthcare Move towards a single-payer health cares system to replace private insurance. Establish a national health service to employ doctors and nurses. Restrict medical malpractice lawsuits. Encourage private hospitals and clinics. Privatise all current public hospitals and clinics. Deregulate the health insurance market to promote competition. @ // Immigration Our future lies in multiculturalism. Relax immigration laws and allow unlimited refugees. Open borders! More rights to asylum seekers, and import 1.5% of population per year. Fast-track immigrant families. For immigration that our economy needs and genuine asylum seekers. Laws must be strictly obeyed. Place strict quotas on immigration, it is causing "welfare-drain". Crack down on criminal asylum seekers. Immigration is destroying our fragile demographic balance. Close borders and repatriate asylum seekers. @ //Jobs Large public works programs to create jobs for workers. Expropriate foreign firms and nationalise industry. State economic intervention and introduce job rotation scheme. Protect worker and union rights. Support greater public funding for infrastructure and promote public-private investment in new industries. A more flexible labor market will reduce unemployment. Crack down on labour union unrest. Severe budgetary and personnel cuts to government bureaucracies. Bring generals into government. @ //National Security State security has become authoritarian and oppressive. Repeal the Government's Anti-Terrorism and Anti-Gang laws. Restore due process rights for terrorist and gang suspects. Human rights and civil liberties come before "security." Security regulations are fine the way they are. Increase funding and manpower for police services and gendarmerie. We need additional security measures to address growing threats, even if it means new restrictions on civil liberties. Security has to take priority over civil liberties; in the end, only criminals, terrorists, and spies have anything to fear. @ //Poverty Launch radical initiatives to put an end to poverty. Guarantee housing and a universal basic income. End child poverty. Increase Social Security pensions. Enhanced income supports for the poor. Promote "faith-based initiatives" to combat poverty. Expand benefits for families with children. Reduce Social Security payments. Restructure welfare bureaucracy and payments to promote work. Abolish Social Security. Criminalise the purchase of sex. Crack down on prostitution, brothels, and the sex trade. Support a nationwide roundup of all prostitutes. Put all these sexual deviants behind bars! @ //Race Riots We must atone for racist past policies! Redistribute wealth from the suburbs and rich cities to the Banlieues. Greater social investment in the Banlieues. The rioters had valid grievances, and their complaints must be satisfied. Improve integration of Banlieues into society. Improve housing and economic conditions. Increase police presence in Banlieues. Any future riots must be put down by force. No giving in to demands of these rioters. Protect marriage as between a man and a woman. Mandate jail sentences for abortionists and homosexuals. Ban pornography. @ // Taxes and Budget Higher taxes are a price worth paying for social justice. Tax hikes should be primarily on the wealthiest citizens. Some tax increases on the wealthy to fund welfare and economic stimulus programs. Deficits are not a major concern. Try to avoid further tax increases. Maintain social programs but improve efficiency to cut the deficit. Some income and business tax reductions, coupled with spending cuts to reduce the deficit and fight inflation. Major tax cuts for the investor class to stimulate growth, with reductions in social spending. Shift to indirect taxation. @ @end

gopprogressive
Do you guys want me to make the country into a Portuguese-themed one called Reunião or rename it Victoria (essentially keeping it as is, as a multicultural anglo-french nation)?
matvail2002
The Reunião idea seems good, because nothing based on Iberic Countries or Brazil was ever made and it will fits with two dominant parties and smaller third parties. As per Victoria, I'm afraid that it looks too much like your Alexandria series, which is excellent.
gopprogressive
All right, well Victoria is a bit more diverse than Alexandria, and has an Asian population as well as an Anglophone-Francophone split like in Canada.
matvail2002
To make a compromise, we should merge Victoria with Reunião to do something like: These could be a suggestion for the parties: Center-right party Third Way/Center-left party Classical Liberal party Alliance of Nations (combinaison of a Portuguese Nationalist Party, Native Rights Party, Francophone Nationalist Party and English Rights Party because they only have a candidate in their own regions) Left-Wing/Green Party 30%=Anglophone 30%=Francophone 28%=Portuguese 10%=Asian 2%=Native Regions: Union City Salisbury Island Johnson Island New Liverpool St-Paul Notre Dame Nouvelle Gaule Port-Louis Porto Salvador Reunião
