EGaffney
Is there is a big socio-economic difference between North Dublin and South Dublin? Yes. Wikipedia says this: A north-south division has traditionally existed in Dublin for some time, with the dividing line being the River Liffey. The Northside is traditionally seen by some as working-class (with the exception of a few suburbs) while the Southside is seen as middle and upper middle class (again, with the exception of a few suburbs). This is an exaggeration; each side has plenty of rich and poor areas. The reason for the stereotype is that the Southside has the very richest parts of Ireland (almost all the "elites" live there). Similarly, the Northside has the very poorest urban areas. The very poorest areas of Ireland are in rural counties like Laois or Donegal. But the fact that it's an urban area creates problems like heroin addiction that aren't as common in rural areas.

graemp
Is there is a big socio-economic difference between North Dublin and South Dublin? Roddy Doyle put it best; The Oirish are the Blacks of Europe The Dubliners are the Blacks of Oireland The Northsoiders are the Blacks of Dublin So say it clearly..... Treasurer
treasurerofthepc at yahoo.com OK, this is great because, round about Ireland 1918 and the 1920's is the ideal period i wanted to see come to fruition on here, whether through me or somebody else. The elections were alot more interesting back then, but i'm sure 1987 will be good too.
