Treasurer
I was thinking about this one, once it was mentioned about a Middle Eastern micronation. Ask me if you need any help.

gopprogressive
I'd actually like to correct matavail, since Babkha is actually based more off of the RL Iran than Jordan. As a result, it has highly fradulent elections with ballot-stuffing, vote suppression, voter intimidation, and biased state-controlled media and other fun stuff. Babkha Notes Ethnic Groups Persian 50% Arab 25% Assyrian 10% Kurdish 10% Armenian 5% Religion Islam 50% Christianity 25% Zoroastrianism 20% Baha'ii 5% Regions Alkhiva Aryez Báatharz Greater Zjandria Hatay Kamalshahr (capital) Kelestan Kumara Khanate Molivadia Norasht Parestan Raspur Razjania Dehvaz Sajinshahr Shahzamin Shireroth Tashbaan Vipia Yardistan Parties Islamist Communist Liberal Monarchist Nasserite Party Leaders issues @issues Alexandria Relations Civil Rights Democratic Reform Economy & Jobs Education Federalism Grandica Crisis Islam Immigration Law and Order Military National Identity National Unity Social Welfare Tax Reform Terrorism Trade Unions Womens' Rights @end @initial economy // 1 - 5 2 @end // scenario money coefficient, 100 is 2004 120 @issue position descriptions // left to right, 1 - 5 //Alexandria Relations Declare war on Alexandria. Drive the crusaders out of our lands! Condemn Alexandria imperialism. Ally with Katyusha to curb Alexandrian power. Our current relations are fine, but keep our distance. Alexandria is our greatest ally. We should move for closer relations. Long live Emperor Edgard II! Stand by Alexandria no matter what. @ //Civil Rights Enshrine a Bill of Rights in the Constitution. Support full equal rights for all Bakhans. Provide citizenship to "model minorities." Retain "Dhimmi" status for minorities. They can convert and assimilate or be expelled. @ //Democratic Reform Abolish the monarchy and establish a PR parliament. Monarchy should be ceremonial. Support more reforms. Enact more refrendums and greater transparency. Increase royal powers and more judicial oversight. Democracy is mob rule. Restore absolute monarchy. @ //Economy & Jobs We need a Socialist economy with full nationalization to eliminate unemployment. Some aid and protection to industries, public jobs program. War on poverty. Invest more in new industries. Assist the unemployed. Encourage foreign investment. Deregulation and privatization are needed. Reduce subsidies and bureaucracy. Laissez-faire all the way! Get bureaucracy off business' back. Full privatization. @ //Education Provide free secular education from primary to post-graduate schooling. Massive funding increase. Reduce Islamic involvement in education. Expand and protect public education. Increase funding. Increase funding for education. Reduce university fees and raise teacher pay. Encourage more Islamic and private involvement. Fund construction of Islamic universities and schools. Privatize all elements of education. Promote private and Western schools. @ //Federalism Provinces should operate like autonomous, independent states. Devolve more powers to the Provinces. Limit Federal power. Balance between provincial and federal powers. Provinces have their rights, but the federal government should be superior. Abolish Provincial authority. Full control for the federal government. @ //Grandica Crisis Support the Grandican Communists. Death to the capitalist pigs! We should stay neutral in Grandica Crisis and act as a peace broker. Quarantine Communist Grandica, economically and diplomatically. Actively support those trying to overthrow the Communist regime. We must invade Grandica and bomb the Reds to hell! @ //Islam Make atheism the official religion. Support freedom of religion for Babkha. Allow some freedom to religious minorities. Islam should be the official state religion. Infidels must submit to the will of Allah! @ //Immigration Full amnesty for all immigrants and open borders. Support amnesty for refugees and asylum seekers. Promote legal immigration but secure borders. Crack down on immigration. Allow Muslims only. Expel all non-Muslim immigrants. Close the borders! @ //Law and Order Minimal sentencing and amnesty for criminals. Rehabilitation and prevention, not punishment for criminals. Tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime. Add more law enforcement officers, harsh punishment for criminals. Public executions, flogging, and other brutal methods will stop crime. @ //Military Reduce defense spending. Focus on peacekeeping, not war! Freeze military spending. Oppose national service. Small increase in budget. Modernize amed forces. Increase defense spending. Support national service. Devote most of budget to military. Start up a nuclear program. @ //National Identity Only Communism should be our national identity. A secular, multicultural society is our future. Pursue a melting pot to celebrate our identity. We must protect our ancient Persian heritage. Devout Muslims are the only true Babkhans. @ //National Unity No less than full self-government for minority groups. Grant autonomy to minority-majority provinces. Babkha consists of many nations within a united Sultanate. Devolution and autonomy are threats to our union. National unity should be maintained through force alone. @ //Social Welfare Massive housing and welfare projects to end poverty. Establish national health care and social security sytems. Provide a minimum wage and unemployment insurance. Promote welfare-to-work schemes for the poor. Don't waste money on the lazy. No welfare programs. @ //Taxation Redistribute income from the rich to the working classes. Raise taxation on the wealthy and corporations. Reform taxation, moves towards more progressive rates. Keep the flat tax. Encourage foreign investment with tax incentives. Eliminate all taxes for the wealthy and corporations. @ //Terrorism Grant full amnesty for all terrorists. Bring them into government. Repeal harsh anti-terrorism laws and work to engage terrorist groups in talks. We are prepared to negotiate with the terrorists under a cease fire. We should not hesitate to use police and troops to defeat the terrrorists. Defeat the subversive groups at all costs! Suspend all civil liberties! @ // Trade Unions Create a worker's state. Collectivize industries. Strengthen worker and union rights. Nationalize oil industry. Labor demands must be balanced with business concerns. Unions have too much power. Relax labor laws. Unions are Communistic and should be outlawed. @ //Womens' Rights Remove all Islamic burdens on women, enshrine equal rights in the Constituion. Allow women greater autonomy and freedom within a Western context. Women should be allowed greater rights within an Islamic framework. Women have the same rights as men. Respect traditional gender roles. Women should stay at home, take care of children, and submit to husbands. @
gopprogressive
Babkha basically has a power-sharing agreement between the Islamist and Monarchist parties, with the executive under control of a hereditary Sultan while the judiciary under control of Islamic clerics and the legislature governed by a coalition of the two. The Communists are the major opposition (though most of their support comes from non-Persians), with the westernizing pro-Democracy Liberals in third place, and the Pan-Arab Nasserites in last place. Babhka also right now is subsiding proxy wars against Rocentia, New Britannia, and Carrassia in Turaqistan by arming proxy militias and terrorist groups to fight the coalition forces- as well as wage a propaganda against the "imperialist powers."

fcp2889
Is anyone interested in resurrecting this project? I was thinking this could be updated as a sort of "Babkhan Spring" scenario, with the toppling of the Sultan and new democratic elections. Also, I did some research into Babkhan history, and found the following names for the parties already mentioned: People's Revolutionary Party - Communist Babkhan Liberal Centre Party - Liberal Qermez Party - Monarchist Azadegan Party (Free People's Party) - Islamic Rastakhiz Party (Rennisance or Resurgence Party) - Right-Wing

I'll avoid RL controversial logos like Hezbollah's, for example.
