matvail2002 803
Basically, except in Saskatchewan, the NDP was virtually wiped off the map in 1993 after they were leading in polls in many provinces (Québec, Ontario, BC, Manitoba, Sask) in 1987, 1989 and 1990. I heard that the NDP was at about 8%-10% in the polls (both provincially and federally) in August 1993. For BC, it's about 10-20% as many former NDPers had turned to Reform for a populist protest vote. One thing than many people don't realize is that the PC was targeting a minority government as they were virtually at equality in polls with the Liberals in September 1993. Even through that, 30 to 40 seats were soundly possible before the Chrétien's attack ads in the last week of the campaign.
Caper08 32
I just checked the September 9, 1993 Globe and Mail, which was reporting these polling numbers the day after the election was called. National LIB: 34% PC: 33% BQ: 11% REF: 11% NDP: 10% other: 2% undecided: 29% Ontario PC: 38% LIB: 37% REF: 13% NDP: 10% BQ: 1% (lol, no clue about this number) Quebec BQ: 43% PC: 28% LIB: 23% NDP: 3% Alberta PC: 41% REF: 25% LIB: 24% NDP: 9% Some interesting numbers there. When I get a chance, I can check for some polls before election day.
matvail2002 803
GOP Progressive, how is your re-making of 2008 and 2006 doing?
gopprogressive 1,063
Good, I'm satisfied with 2008. Haven't started on 2006. I personally think that one of the main problems of that scenario is that it didn't predict the tory breakthrough in Quebec- so I will change the Quebec ridings and some of the regions to be more conservative-friendly while being overall pro-bloc. here are the new issues: Aboriginal Rights Business Taxes Crime Defence Education Environment Families Government Ethics Gun Control Healthcare Marijuana Parliament and Senate Personal Taxes Provincial Powers Same-Sex Marriage Trade US Relations All right- one more issue needed. matvail2002 803
It is possible to take a look at 2008? You know my e-mail. For 2006, I would maybe add the Liberal Party or the Sponsorship scandal as an issue. The Liberal party is the best thing since sliced bread (Paul Martin) The Liberal party is not perfect, but we have done a good job since 1993 (Other Liberal Leaders) The Liberal party should return in opposition because greed and corruption have come by in the last few years. Also, the party is not united under Paul Martin. (Green, NDP) The Liberal party should stay in the opposition for at least four years because they must be punished (CON) The Liberal party should be outlawed by Elections Canada because of the corruption cases against them (Bloc)
gopprogressive 1,063
Afghanistan? Afghanistan wasn't much of an issue in 2006- it was more of an issue in 2008. Corruption will work I think. Aboriginal Rights Business Taxes Corruption Crime Defence Education Environment Families Government Ethics Gun Control Healthcare Marijuana Parliament and Senate Personal Taxes Provincial Powers Same-Sex Marriage Trade US Relations
