South Guanjin

Recommended Posts

Logos are now finished. Unless you want that last one changed.

These look awesome, TotPC (or is it Chancellor you go by now? :P )! I'm not sure about the WW2 Japanese Naval emblem for the SWNUG, but frankly, I'm not sure what should replace it; a red background and a yellow star are what I was looking for, so if you have a better idea, feel free to post it. Thanks a bunch! :)

As another micronation to add to GOP Progressive's micronation world (also added to my Matvail2002) in addition to Reshmir and Kiristonia (so far), I present the idea of South Guanjin. Like certain As

That would be a great help! Thanks! Before I agree, what's left to be done on Ayati?

Scratch that idea. The Patriotic Party will stay as originally stated, as I'd forgotten when I typed that about the Radical Party, which already fills the same role I'd planned to change the Patriotic

That Communist logo is actually perfect for Kozakura, so I will use that as the Communist Party of Kozakura's logo.

I'd suggest integrating the Communist flags of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam somehow.

Here's the first draft of the issue stances. Let me know what you think.

//Agriculture

Collectivize all farms under the State for greater efficiency and stability.

Support farm collectives and send aid to struggling private farmers.

Allow some collectivization of farms, but focus on private farms.

Break up farming collectives. They are a Communist ideal. Set private farms as ideal.

Encourage large estate farms owned by wealthy landowners. Outlaw Communist collectives!

@

//Armed Forces

Drastically decrease military funding, set South Gunjinese forces to purely defense, end conscription.

Somewhat decrease military funding, end conscription.

Keep military funding, infrastructure, and conscription laws as is.

Increase military funding, purchase more advanced hardware, keep conscription.

Dramatically increase military funding, greatly upgrade hardware at all costs, extend conscription.

@

//Ayati Relations

Ayati is a capitalist, conservative state. Cut all ties, but support their Communist Party.

Ayati is not a supporter of our values, and thus we must be reserved in dealing with them.

We should keep stable and lucrative if cautious relations with Ayati.

As a democratic Asian nation, Ayati is very similar to us, and thus we should forge close ties.

We should offer to sign an alliance of mutual friendship with Ayati.

@

//Communist Insurgency

The PNUF is fighting for our future against the capitalists! We must embrace our comrades!

We should offer the olive branch of peace to the PNUF and negotiate a cease-fire.

Hold the line against the PNUF, devoting enough resources to keep the nation stable.

Significantly increase military resources to fight the PNUF; ban the SWNUPG from running in elections.

Drastically increase military resources to stamp out the PNUF; arrest and try all SWNUPG members.

@

//Economic Development

Convert ecenomy to completely State-controlled planned economy for paradigm performance.

Take a firmer hand in managing the economy in these tough times.

Invite more foreign investment in South Guanjin.

Give tax incentives to businesses that show efficiency and incentive.

The government should not be meddling in the economy; let it take care of itself.

@

//Education

Fully government-funded primary, secondary, and post-secondary education in both urban and rural areas.

Government funded primary and secondary school nationwide; lower university tuitions.

Primary school funded by government across the nation; secondary school government funded in the cities.

Have primary school government funded in the cities only.

All schooling should be at the expense of the family.

@

//Foreign Trade

Only trade quid pro quo with Communist countries like North Guanjin, Shou Lung, and Katyusha.

We should erect higher tariffs to protect our agriculture and labour.

We should keep tariffs and trade agreements as they are.

Propose free trade to friendly Asian nations like Ayati and Kozakura, lower tariffs with the West.

Move toward a global free trade organization.

@

//Huanchan Cult

Embrace the teachings of the Huanchan Faith as Holy Law to bind South Guanjin's governance.

We should accept the Huanchan Faith as one of many valid religions in South Guanjin.

The Huanchan religion is not an issue for a secular government.

The Huanchan are a cult that should be carefully monitored and have their activities curtailed.

We should outlaw the Huanchan cult, imprison it's clerics, and ban the Essentialist Party from elections.

@

//Kozakuran Relations

Kozakura is a capitalist, conservative state. Cut all ties, but support their Communist Party.

Kozakura is not a supporter of our values, and thus we must be reserved in dealing with them.

We should keep stable and lucrative if cautious relations with Kozakura.

As a democratic Asian nation, Kozakura is very similar to us, and thus we should forge close ties.

We should offer to sign an alliance of mutual friendship with Kozakura.

@

//Labour Unions

Labour unions are a integral part of industry, and the government should favour them over business in a dispute.

We need labour unions to ensure workers are not exploited by businesses.

Organized labour is an acceptible facet of our economy, but must balance with business demands.

The government should favour businesses over labour unions in a dispute, and restrict union activities.

Outlaw labour unions!

@

//Minority Rights

Ethnic minority homelands should function much like semi-independent countries, deciding many issues.

We need to protect the lands and culture of ethnic minorities from Guanjinese majority oppression.

Allow ethnic minorities to use their own language in their home areas.

Move to slowly integrate ethnic minorities with the majority Guanjinese population.

Order ethnic minority groups to assimilate into Guanjinese culture or leave the country!

@

//Nationalization

The government should nationalize all businesses in South Guanjin and run the economy!

Nationalize failing businesses to prevent damage to the economy.

Buy into failing businesses, taking some control but allowing for private recovery.

The government should only own essential businesses like posts and some utilities.

South Guanjin should have a completely privatized and competitive economy!

@

//North Guanjin

Reunification with North Guanjin under Northern control should be our foremost priority.

We should let bygones be bygones and make a permanent peace with North Guanjin.

No change in our diplomatic status with North Guanjin.

We must push for sanctions against North Guanjin, and seek to isolate the regime.

Reunification with North Guanjin under Southern control should be our foremost priority.

@

//Organized Crime

Work to eliminate the roots of organized crime's power base in poverty and inequity.

Build bridges with the population most affected by organized crime to undermine the kingpins.

Balance social programs with hard justice to combat organized crime.

Increase police powers and criminal sentences to deal with organized crime.

Grant vast police powers against organized crime and have a mandatory death sentence for kingpins.

@

//Poverty

Redistribute the wealth of the nation to erradicate poverty.

Create social programs and financial asssitance to those who suffer under poverty.

Some assistance for those who cannot provide for themselves.

The poor are on their own; leave handouts to missionary work.

Make poverty a jailable offense; get those vagrants off the streets!

@

//Unemployment

Give everyone a job, no matter how small. Make jobs everywhere to make up the slack.

Give financial assistance and job-finding services to unemployed workers.

Give a small ammount of limited-time asssitance to those who lose their jobs.

Give no financial support to the unemployed, but do allow tax deduction to charites that do.

Unemployment is the fault of the unemployed! No sympathy from the government!

@

//Vice Laws

Allow prostitution, gambling, and narcotics within a State-organized and taxed framework.

Liscense brothels and casinos with regulations; decriminalize personal use of cannabis products.

Keep vice laws as they are.

Impose a special tax on casinos. Jail prostitutes, pimps, and drug dealers and users on every offense.

Increase penalty for breaking vice laws. Outlaw gambling.

@

//Western Relations

Cut off all ties to the West! They're capitalist, imperialist enemies of the Revolution!

Be reserved in our dealings with the West; they may try to exploit us.

No change in relations with the West.

Move closer to the West diplomatically; they have much to offer.

Propose to become a staunch Western ally in the region!

Once I've finished up Austria, I'll start on this one. I've got a good foundation here, and this should go quite quickly. If there's any advice, suggestions, or questions before I start, now's an ideal time.

I can't wait to see this as a SE-Asian micronation, at least!

Is tourism a big industry in your micronation with its consequences (like in RL Thailand)?

There is tourism in the southern provinces, but instability makes the north a kidnapping threat for foreigners.

I'm changing the stance of the Patriotic Party from it's stated 'centre-left but VERY anti-North' in the opening post of this thread, which ultimately would put it very close to the Social Democratic Party save on a few foreign and military issues, to a more far-right party, which closer matches it's name and the leader made for it, and allows a wider political spectrum (as the Essentialsits are far too strange to conform to true right-wing politics).

I've now continued progress on this one.

A question. What should be the name (and thus used symbol) of South Guanjin's currency; the riel (Cambodia), the kip (Laos), the baht (Thailand), or the dong (Vietnam)? Any suggestions on which sounds best?

Sadly the game doesn't allow for much options with currency (the symbol is either dollar, euro or pound) but I would cast my vote for the dong.

I'm wondering if I could just copy the dong symbol from a currency exchange site and paste it into the scenario.p4e file.

I tried that, and got a long line of code instead of a dong symbol, so I'll just use the pound symbol and attribute it to South Guanjin's historical closeness to New Brittania, mentioned above as the eason they have the Westminister Parliamentary System.

Update: I've gotten significant work done on this. All that really needs to be done now is ads, endorsers, regional and national flags, issue icons, and grinding out constituencies. Do I need to edit preference_weights.p4e and primary_secondary_conversions.p4e in a purely Canadian Prime Minister Forever scenario?
