Simland Votes 2009

SIMLAND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ELECTION

Concept: Fictional micronation with a strong francophone influence, but also significant dutch and anglo elements. Simland has a semi-Presidential system similar to France, with slightly greater powers for the President. I was inspired by Matavail to do this scenario, as well as by the recent Canadian and American elections. I've decided to set it in the same universe as Alexandria, Stormark, New Brittania (forthcoming), and Babkha (forthcoming).

REGIONS

Freedonia: Settled by Dutch colonists with a strong social-democratic and socially liberal ethos.

Charlota: Suburban area fused with influences from the capital, the francophone areas and the anglophone areas.

Federal District: The capital city of Simland, it is home to a diverse population and contains both french and english influences.

Bourbon: the wealthiest region of Simland, it is home to upscale suburbs and rich estates dating back to the colonial era.

Montcalm: the "backwoods" of Simland, it is a mostly rural province home to small towns and a bien-peasant tradition.

Livingstone: home to a significant black population, although majority white anglos- it is a diverse province and most populous

Victoria: similar to Livingstone, but with centers of commerce and fishing and home to a significant asian population

Samania: home to "Samanians," or a mixed race ethnic group fiercely known for its independence and desire for autonomy.

I could always use a PC and a LDP candidate, and I have all the others set. I Just need one for both parties to add to the current roster.

Regionalism is set. I may need some help with riding names, but I'll make sure to post my brainstormed list sometime this week. Endorsers will be the last thing I'll finish. I'll work on wrapping up Stormark, as well as starting work on this scenario as well as New Brittania 2009.

I just like the idea of having debates in French. Plus I've already done enough Australia forever for now with Rocentia and Cyberland both set for that game.

BTW, the biggest cities in the country are probably Libertyville (the capital city), Port Louis (capital of Bourbon), Wilbeforce (capital of Livingstone), Kingston (Victoria), and Trois Rivieres (Samania)- as of right now.
