matvail2002
Are European election closely followed in the UK and did any of you voted? Also, I think that a Swedish 2009 European Election version for C4E would be a nice thing to do due to the emergence of a small grassroots party based on Copyright Reform (Pirate Party) which had 7,1% in the European Election and is now the third party in Sweden by membership.
extreme_right
I followed the euro elections and they did get 3 and a half hours of coverage on a main tv channel, so I guess a fair few people did. I voted (UKIP).
extreme_right
Dorset County Council 2009 is now available here http://rapidshare.com/files/247348442/Dors...l_2009.zip.html This is currently in beta, and I would appreciate feedback so that I can make any changes before sending it in. Scenario Notes: This is essentially a Conservative vs Lib Dem battle. The Conservatives are the incumbents, but the majority is small, and it is very winnable as the Lib Dems. Given the timing, and low starting support in the area, it should be difficult to win more than a or 2 seats as Labour (in real life, they were wiped out entirely). Winning seats as UKIP should be very difficult, although they did IRL get many strong showings in Christchurch and it is not impossible to win a seat here. The Greens are contesting only a handful of seats and the BNP just 1 and it should be virtually impossible to take seats as either of them. The independents have 1 incumbent, and it should be very hard to improve on that. Let me know your thoughts.
matvail2002
Very good County scenario, I would give it a 8.5 out of 10. However, the map is a little but confusing for somebody who doesn't know the region well at the first place. What is Dorset voting patterns in the House of Commons? Also, how are your Euro elections are coming along?
extreme_right
Dorset voting patterns for the HoC are Christchurch - very conservative Dorset North - Con/Lib Dem marginal Dorset West - Con/Lib Dem marginal Dorset South - Lab/Con marginal Other constituencies not included here since they cover two unitary authorities - Bournemouth East - strongly conservative (my constituency) Bournemouth West - strongly conservative Poole - strongly conservative Poole North and Dorset Mid - quite strongly Lib Dem I have done a scenario of Dorset at the last general election which is avaliable on the scenarios page. The Euros are progressing but may be a while yet, especially as I'm going away for a bit later this week.
Treasurer
I feel it needs some negative/positive events to balance out the power of the endorsers and the ads, especially the Leaflets. I've played twice as Tories and Lib Dems.
extreme_right
Dorset has now been submitted, following some changes, including - Some ad types have increased cost to run. - You only get 1 leaflet at the start, not 3. - Some candidate issue positions changed and some descriptions altered. - Lib Dems now have the same starting funds as Conservatives. - Some percentages tweaked a little for closer fights in some places. extreme_right
Euro Elections 2009 Update As there were many significant parties standing in several regions, I have decided it would be a more interesting scenario if the NI parties were removed in favor of the English Democrats, Socialist Labour, NO2EU and the UK First Party. So they will be included, and the NI candidates will be listed under the closest national party (e.g. SDLP under Labour, UUP under Conservative etc). I have done most of the work for the change and I have also added Libertas and Jury Team so the full list of parties will be Labour Conservative Lib Dem Green UKIP BNP NO2EU Socialist Labour English Democrats UK First Libertas Jury Team SNP Plaid Cymru Independent I have also now updated most of the leaders in parties where they have changed since the general election, so further alterations to the ridings file is the main thing left to do. Shouldn't be long now...

Niall_91
Hi. Any news on whether the Euro 2009 scenario is on its way?
extreme_right
For your Euro election, will alternate leaders will be available for each party? No plans to have any no. Maybe for one or two though; might be interesting to have alternates for some of the parties that don't have that option in the main scenario. extreme_right
Yes it will, its just taking longer than I thought it would, and is experiencing teething problems (for instance Jury Team ALWAYS winning seats in Scotland for no discernible reason). It will be done.
extreme_right
To give an update on my various projects. I have found this Summer that I have constantly been having new ideas on scenarios and working hard on one for a while, then another and consequently I have a tonne that are not too far off completion, but no new ones ready. Euro Elections 2009 - This much anticipated one is very nearly ready, there about 4 regions ridings left to do and then its just basically a matter of sorting that problem I mentioned above. Euro Elections 2004 - A fair bit of work still to do. Wales 2011 - Mid stages. Scotland 2005 - Not too much left to do. London Assembly 2008 - Quite a lot of work done on this, map ready, ridings ready, just issues and leaders left to do mainly. Dorset 2009 - Early stages. Bournemouth Council 2007 - Just the ridings (about half done) to finish essentially. BGS 2006 and PostrevBritain 2007 - Two general elections based on govsims I've been involved with. The former has lot's of work to do and the later is experiencing errors. Various by elections as previously discussed.
graemp
Dorset County Council 2009 I have just played this scenario for the first time and enjoyed it. Before I started playing, I disabled the Endorsers file (too many endorsers puts me off) and disabled the Ad types file (usually makes the game too easy). I chose the hardest option and had all the game variables ticked 'on' except for Fog of War. I played as the Lib Dems and set out to try and win a majority. I just about managed it which was gratifying. However, my desire to play it again is less as I found it a bit too easy, as is often the case with PM4E. The scenario brought back memories of 1985 when I spent the campaign in the North Dorset constituency working for the Liberal Party. I spent a lot of time in Blandford, which was identified as a possible gain from Conservative (although Labour also had hopes). The Liberals gained the seat, more to the point, the Liberal and Labour candidates are shown to still be fighting this seat in the 2009 scenario! (even if the Labour vote is now under 10%) I also noticed that the Blackmore Vale Lib Dem candidate is the guy who was agent in this division in 1985, having contested North Dorset in the 1983 General Election for the Wessex Regionalist party. Happy days.
