  1. I wrote a denunciation speech last night. My mood is now more somber and sad than angry. I can't tell you how many countless hour I've spent on this forum the last 7 or 8 years. Before I post my speech. I want to thank you all for making this forum wonderful, when it was was wonderful. I've made true friends here. For those that want to continue the community we had, I've built a new forum. It is for us. Send me a private message with your email or contact another (formerly) active user to reach this forum. I've gotten about 15 to 20 inquires already. @admin_270 is welcome, even though I'm going to momentarily tear into him. I hold no permanent anger for him. While I could give a somber address. I will present the speech I wrote last night as it best captures. the anger that we all have. The speech is actually in the mode of a denunciation speech given commonly by the Roman Cicero. As this is a Forum, it seems only appropriate that I give the oration on the corpse of this forum: *** If this is my last post, then so be it. I've been a daily member of this forum for 7 years. The last few weeks have been the worst weeks on this forum and by no small margin. While a contributing cause has been the 2020 election, the primary cause has been one person: Political Pundit. We have had conservatives and Trump supporters before. Tensions arise but are brief. They are never sustained. This one is sustained. Whereas temp bans occurred once every 4 or 6 months, they now occur multiple times at once. I have no doubt that if Political Pundit were not here and some other Trump supporter were here that these angry posts, such as this one, would not be written. This denotes another problem: Admin himself. The collapse of a forum's harmony and a revolt of the most active users underscores a problem. Admin's instinct is to ban those in protest. He pays no attention to Political Pundit's guerilla tactics -- perversely seeking to agitate and rile us up in hopes that we personally attack him, so he can squeal for Admin to defend him. Admin will defend him. He has no law to inhibit people from provoking attacks purposely. He has no law to restrain someone who perversely seeks to destroy the harmony of the forum. He has no law to protect the majority from a minority upriser that brings no good intentions, carries no respect for others, and has no love for this forum. Indeed, it seems Admin, too, has no love for this forum. At least, not anymore. More love he has for Political Pundit than he does he have for Forum harmony or its leading members. Such is the power of Political Pundit. When, Political Pundit, do you mean to cease abusing our patience?! How long is that madness of yours still to mock this forum?! When is there to be an end of that unbridled brashness?! Does not the glares and the words of this venerable forum body have any effect upon you? Do you not see that it is you--and not your views--that are detested? If you choose to hold your ground, so be it. The forum is half itself since tainted by you. For this protest, a lifetime ban would be a reward: Political Pundit, you are not worthy of this forum or of the attention of the members of this forum! Shame on Admin for protecting him and perversely and autocratically banning the loyal and active members of this forum for rightfully responding to one so cancerous in his intent in sapping the harmony of this forum! Shame on you! No doubt, Admin will be unmoved like a Gaddafi, and Political Pundit, like a Warner Brothers cartoon, will remain unchanged in his behavior as he's incapable of overhearing himself. I accept my upcoming banning. May it be permanently. This forum is dead to me. Let it foster or fester under Political Pundit. All others seeking to continue our discussions may feel free to follow me elsewhere. vcczar @Reagan04 @Actinguy @Patine @Conservative Elector 2 @TheMiddlePolitical @WVProgressive @SilentLiberty @pilight @admin_270 @Hestia11 @Herbert Hoover @mlcorcoran @Leuser @upandaway @jvikings1 @Rodja @Edouard @jnewt @Nentomat @Kingthero @Sunnymentoaddict @RFK/JFKfan @Mr.Blood @Zenobiyl @Wiw @MBDemSoc @ThePotatoWalrus @Alxeu @Allyn @Cenzonico @CentristGuy @Ishan @billay @wolves @RI Democrat @lizarraba @lizphairphreak @TheLiberalKitten @MysteryKnight @avatarmushi @servo75 @Mark_W @Entrecampos

  2. First they came for the leftists, but I did not speak out because I wasn't a leftist. Then they came for the rational thinkers, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a rational thinker And then they came for the centrists but I didn't speak out because I missed that thread PP hasn't gotten banned yet, a quandry I'm not good at poetry Rotary

  3. Not that helpful. I am now giving short bans for violation of forum rules, to avoid things escalating. Everyone, please rethink your approaches to the forum.

  4. I actually thought of the original poem when I got banned, after initially agreeing with Patine's ban. My bad, Patine. Admin's overactive protection of a specific user of this forum, to the detriment of all other users of this forum, will eventually lead to the end of this forum.

  7. I predict that Joe Biden will defeat Donald Trump 307-231. My write-up for this prediction is found on my blog: https://historymonocle.com/2020/11/02/2020-election-prediction/ I will make my final 270Soft post later this afternoon. I am creating a new forum along with some other active members from this forum. I'll explain how to get there in my final post for anyone interested. All those that don't seek disharmony will be welcome. 9. I am done. I am done seeing this forum continuously left to locked threads, bad-faith arguments, and constant fighting. I am done seeing people I highly respect being roped into fights with people who have no regard for their arguments, and who would much rather engage in throwing away opposing evidence, refusing to recognize their opponent's points, acting superior to others, and all around being a negative influence on this forum. I am done with every post being a flame war, and I am done seeing flaws in our moderation system exposed through the recent arguments and flame wars on this forum. I am done toying with the idea that we can all simply block/ignore those who are helping to cause the situation we face to solve everything. This post is not about PoliticalPundit, Admin, or Billay alone. It is about the systemic issues this forum faces. The vast majority of posts, people, and comments on here are great and amazing, but the issues with civility, moderation, and the general tone of this forum are too much. I am done. I am very active in the Election Play-By-Play area, and as such I will maintain my account, but from here on out I will not comment or interact with the General section of the forum, not including the occasional look at Vcczar's excellent polls. I. Am. Done. Goodbye, you beautiful bastards. vcczar @Reagan04 @Actinguy @Patine @Conservative Elector 2 @TheMiddlePolitical @WVProgressive @SilentLiberty @pilight @admin_270 @Hestia11 @Herbert Hoover @mlcorcoran @Leuser @upandaway @jvikings1 @Rodja @Edouard @jnewt @Nentomat @Kingthero @Sunnymentoaddict @RFK/JFKfan @The Blood @Zenobiyl @Wiw @MBDemSoc @ThePotatoWalrus @Alxeu @Allyn @Cenzonico @CentristGuy @Ishan @billay @wolves @RI Democrat @lizarraba @lizphairphreak @TheLiberalKitten @MysteryKnight @avatarmushi @servo75 @Mark_W

  11. First of all,the political spectrum should return. Next, this little effect for states should return as well. Look at those lines across the states. It makes the map more interesting to look at. Next up, The lockbox and states being called on election night. Perhaps the one I have been requesting the most, city names! Allowing campaign designers to make campaigns more in depth. Its the little things that do that. The next one I don't have a screenshot for is a news story. "Candidate A loses home state in latest polling" If anyone wants to add to this, please do.

  12. So let me ask you guys this. How old are you? 17 years old Do you like Mountain Dew? I used to, years ago, but these days it tastes like toilet water. Have you played Mass Effect? No. Ever been to Arizona? No. Ideal place to live? Portland, Maine, and I plan on moving there after I finish my education Did you vote?(I don't care who you voted for. I'm asking if you voted ) No. Joe Biden isn't worth committing voter fraud over . Preference: Cake or pie? Cake. Especially Ice-Cream-Cake, I have one for my birthday every year.

  13. Unignoring you for a second to respond to this as I saw someone quote you. You've been getting it too easy. Calling him immature and unaccountable is a personal attack in itself, you said he "cries to the admin", earlier today, another personal attack, you frequently use "_______ _____" and stuff in place of insults when we all know what you're trying to say. You say vcczar constantly cries to the admin and doesn't act like an adult when it is you who is doing it. This is one page (of 23) of your post history. You've contributed to the recent toxic culture more than anyone here has 10 times over. You say it's because it's a liberal forum. I probably hold more conservative views than 90% of this forum and I still find your conduct disgusting and toxic. I've usually supported @admin_270 through most events of the forum, like the big fiasco in the debate thing and his comments to two people, everyone calling him a Trump supporter or whatever when I say he's playing Devil's Advocate (and he is playing Devil's Advocate), he's a good admin but my only criticism is that he's been way too easy on you. The fact that @Patine got an 8 day ban for things you do every day is astounding.

  14. Something I've noticed - neither of them are particularly good at contextualizing. They both tend to make references to things without really explaining what they're talking about, in a way that may make sense to those of us who follow politics closely but could just confuse people who don't.

  20. Hi everyone, first time I'm posting in the general forum. I am less optimistic for Trump than I was a week ago. My election prediction method is simple- I take the polling average for every state on 538 and give Trump a 2% handicap to account for polling bias. Even with that advantage, he loses 279-259, though it would be extremely close in Pennsylvania. So, my current prediction is that Biden wins on a very small margin, but Trump still has a real chance of victory with a small improvement in Pennsylvania. It could get ugly if PA is the tipping point and it ends up being really close there. I was torn on the higher turnout question. It really depends where that turnout is coming from. Is it coming from white working class and rural voters who usually don't care about politics, as was the theory in 2016? Or is it coming from minority communities and young people? The first scenario helps the Republicans and the second scenario helps the Democrats. Ultimately, I think both might be true, which results in an advantage for the Democrats since the pool of young and minority voters who didn't vote in 2016 is probably larger than the number of white working class voters who didn't vote in 2016.

  21. "Keep your comments fact-oriented and if you want to attack, attack an idea, not a user." Keep in mind there are people from various political backgrounds here. The great advantage of a place like this is you get something unusual - many smart, well-informed people from different political backgrounds discussing and analyzing topics. But that comes with a risk - people with politically divergent views often don't have similar values, and can not get along very well. So keep comments focused on facts. If you want to attack, attack an idea, not a user.

  25. Thoughts from your friend kitten! Very classy start, both men were civil and Trump contained himself unlike other debates that I have seen him involved in. To me it was a strange sight to see but rather welcoming. The moderator did a good job going through question after question and keeping the flow moving. Did Trump kill the debate? No and yes. He certainly fired up his base but that could fire up independents/centrists/moderates that were undecided. Did Biden pull out a win? I say no but he didn't lose because he was the typical Joe Biden that we have seen in debates as of late. A few folksy moments here and there, no major gaffes that I saw altho Joe did pull a papa Bush and it made me feel rather nostalgic. The real winner of the debate, the American people at least compared to the other one There's my two cents. It's not in depth as everyone but it's just what I thought. Now to create more scenarios

  27. I was unhappy with various things with the old Main Screen. The first thing you'll probably notice is the new seats chart. Next, you can see the action buttons are now on the left. There's no Activities Button, because the activity buttons are now all shown on the Main Screen all the time. This makes game play quicker. The activity buttons are also now in the same part of the screen as the actor portrait (in this case, Donald Trump, but could be a VP nominee or Surrogate). The region selected is now displayed at the top-right of the screen (used to be under the map), and next to it is the region's flag (used to be top-left of the map). There are a few other minor changes you might notice. I'm still fine-tuning the Main Screen UI, but having fun using it so far.

I'm posting this only because I've changed my algorithm. I think I was weighing demographics and other misc. factors way too much, which was causing wild swinging in my maps from day to day. This new algorithm is more stable and will probably be more accurate: Thus, the algorithm is split into three tiers in weight First tier--weighted heaviest Polling average margins using 538 since he considers all of the pollsters, which allows for a broad polling avg and not an arbitrarily restrictive polling avg. Second tier--strong enough to pull the first tier a full point Weekly trending of a state (is it tightening? or going further for Trump or Biden?) Direction of the Country Poll (Some consider this the most important poll) *Favors Trump* Trump handicap (Trump gets an automatic 1pt handicap in his favor because he defied the polls last time) *Favors Trump* The Economy (I could see this going either way in an argument -- but I'm giving this to Trump because the recent report is likely to be spun better by GOP than Dems) *Favors Trump* Third tier--strong enough to pull the first tier a quarter of a point State trend since General Election began. Biden's 2020 margin against Trump vs. Clinton's 2016 margin against Trump. (Bonus applied only when then difference is about double) *Favors Biden* Nominee Favorability. Biden leads by a net margin of almost +20. *Favors Biden* Trump avg approval trend. While pathetically low, it's trending upward. *Favors Trump* Trump avg disapproval trend. While embarrassingly high, it's trending downward. *Favors Trump* Generic Party Support and trend. *Favors Democrats/Biden* 2016 Trump to 2020 Trump support among women trend. This is the largest demographic. *Favors Biden* 2016 Trump to 2020 Trump support among white males with no college education. This only applies to states where this is an unusually high demographic. *Favors Biden* 2016 Trump to 2020 Trump support among Blacks. This only applies to states where this is an unusually high demographic. Currently, data for this demographic is so conflicted that I can't apply it, which is probably a win for Trump. *Favors no one, which probably makes it lightly favoring Trump* 2016 Trump to 2020 Trump support among Hispanics. This only applies to states where this is an unusually high demographic. *Favors Trump* 2016 Trump to 2020 Trump support among Seniors. This only applies to states where this is an unusually high demographic. *Favors Biden* Traditional state ideological lean. This only applies to some of these states. For battleground states, this favors Trump everywhere except NH. *Favors Trump* Chance Voter Suppression. This applies to states that have a recent history of controversially suppressing votes, generally in areas with a high black population. *Favors Trump* National Polling support. Biden has a huge lead here, but these polls are really only helpful if state polling doesn't exist. However, even state polling can't capture everyone in the state. The national poll is a national mood indicator. *Favors Biden* 2016 Trump to 2020 Trump support among voters that dislike both candidates. Trump won this number wildly in 2016, which may have been why he shocked the pollsters. The only data I can find for this right now shows that Biden is doing much, much better here than Clinton did. *Favors Biden* Projected Libertarian Party turnout. This applies to only some states. As the current ticket is more conservative than the 2016 ticket, I'm confident this hurts Trump more than Biden. This said, support for the Libertarian Party will be much lower than it was in 2016. *Favors Biden* Early Voting polls show overwhelming support for Biden and much of this occurred when Biden was at his strongest in the polls. *Favors Biden* Nominee winning state in avg of A grade polls Nominee winning state in Conservative biased Trafalgar and Rasmussen polls. This is a handicap in favor of Trump. However, it also means Biden is probably definitely winning a state if they think Biden is winning it. *Favors Trump* Exceptionally high projected Youth Turnout. This demographic leans heavily to Democrats. *Favors Biden* Exceptionally high voter turnout in general. Most election historians and pollsters believes historic turnout favors Democrats and low turnout favors Republicans. *Favors Biden* I took out undecided margins from 2016 to 2020 (pollsters believe this helps Biden), and what the pollsters are saying out of this algorithm. Both which would have favored Biden.

  38. Chelsea Handler actually has a point. 50 Cent literally said "I don't care that Donald Trump doesn't care about black people." He endorsed him because under Biden, 50 cent will have to pay a bit more in taxes. This is a perfect example of how class solidarity is more important than race solidarity in America. Bottom line is that 50 cent is wealthy, mega wealthy, most black people, most white people, are not. 50 cent doesn't care about what it's like to be a young black man living in the grips of systemic racism every day. He cares about growing his millions. His endorsement should be an alarm bell to all white voters AND voters of color, all voters in general, that it's time for Trump's racism and corruption to go.

  39. Theodore Roosevelt -- no flaws at all in debate. Whirlwind and intellectual. Magisterial. FDR -- Like my description of Clinton below, but even more convincing of a speaker and less likely to be provoked. Ideal. B Clinton -- a killer on the debate stage -- mixed humor, humanity, facts, and cutting remarks. Almost ideal. Wilson -- magnetic debater on policy, history, and on human passion, but too professiorial to rise higher on this ranking. Nixon -- Contrary to JFK beating him, he was quite solid. No logical or verbal flaws, but not charismatic. Reagan -- the king of debate sound bites. JFK -- Won his debate more on physical polish and charisma. No real flaws but no real sound bites. Obama -- magnetic speaker but only above average to good on debate. Bryan -- possibly the most magnetic speaker on this list, but doesn't logically connect the dots. Carter -- Smart. Knew his stuff, but was hampered mainly by a bad record to defend. Wilkie -- Despite not being a politician, he was very conversationally saavy and likable. FDR even wanted him in his administration despite being his rival. Truman -- had a lot of common's man energy while also knowing what to say and when to say it. Taft -- Won't make a single mistake, but too affable to employ a killer instinct. Dewey -- Smart prosecutor. Might be kind of plastic but would have delivered on substance. McKinley -- Same as Dewey but not prosecutorial. Bush I -- similar to Kerry below but more resembling of an accountant than a crypt-keeper Hoover -- If not for his record, would likely have been a sound debater on policy, but his delivery would have been unmemorable. Kerry -- Fairly strong on policy but has the charisma of a crypt-keeper McCain -- Has a hard time connecting with voters; forgets their names when talking to them in town halls. Often strong though. Hughes -- likely great on policy and convincing , but can't connect with humans. Perot -- Was very good at saying what appeared needed to be said, but was off the wall at some times. Romney -- About the same as Obama, but less chance of magnetism. Bush II -- Little depth, but seems very likable in his reponses, which is a kind of magnetism. Dukakis -- Similar to Hillary Clinton below, but was less insulting. H Clinton -- strong with policy but unmagnetic Biden -- gaffe prone and rambles; atleast shows compassion. McGovern -- similar to Mondale, but had optimism. Eisenhower -- unmagnetic as a speaker, but better than Gore. Gore -- more unmagnetic than Hillary Clinton Mondale -- not memorable, but made few gaffes. LBJ -- likely would have made few mistakes, but would have had little charisma. Stevenson -- boring egghead, but smart. Trump -- sets himself on fire, but is exciting to people that would already die for him. Comes off as an idiot but is entertaining. Dole -- In his younger days, he might have been solid, but Dole came off as just plain old without the likability. Somehow, he's still alive. Ford -- often slipped on basic information, fumbled his words like Biden, but lacked the compassion. Goldwater -- never got to debate, but was liable to set himself on fire in a way that was even more inappropriate for his time. Cox -- forgettable, no urgency, but sometimes a good speaker. Landon -- As boring as Stevenson but less intelligent. Coolidge -- Only says three words at a debate. Davis -- more boring than Landon. Harding -- Imagine Biden's penchant for rambling but without any knowledge of policy in any reasonable amount of depth. Think the debate child of Biden and Trump.

  40. Alright. You speak of harassment happening to you from Patine, but it’s you that’s consistently tagging me in comments. In regards to bans, I have flagged your comments only twice, never once suggesting how long the ban should be. Why would I want to have a logical discussion with someone that stretches the truth, routinely plays victim, flagrantly accuses people of bias, and has made the forum much more chaotic since joining? I’m going to save us both time and further forum drama by blocking you finally. You’re certainly wasting my time and add no value to my forum experience. Not worth further engaging with you. Blocked.
