  7. Influence (3): The dinner results in Nixon spilling A1 sauce on his tie, not very presidential Rally (6): The Governor pumps up turnout and an energized Nixon carries the rest. Rally (4): Turnout is diminished but Nixon lands it. Endorsement (8): An excellent speech from Rockefeller totally topples the current order and unites Liberals behind Nixon, merging them into his moderate base. Overall: +6. Nixon has an underwhelming week... and then Nelson Rockefeller announces the entire establishment of the GOP has finally come around to support Nixon. Rally (10!): Goldwa

  11. Here are the issue positions as it currently stands (don't worry Patine, the icon won't be a China flag ). Major credit to the author of Senate - 2020 for the framework. Far-Left: We must stay locked down until there is a vaccine for the Trump virus! Cede all decisions to health care experts. The lock-downs have exposed the Achille's Heel in capitalism! This is our opportunity to launch a glorious Communist revolution! Left: Lock-downs in hot spots are warranted to stop COVID-19. Limited opening as conditions improve. Federal mask mandate. Use opportunity to increase social spend

  14. Yeah the story is very lackluster after the first playthrough but I loved settlement building. I also enjoyed factions however bare they were at times.

  25. The last time we made a president’s son president didn’t end very well, however. I want someone who wins voters on their own merits, not on the merits of their parents.

  26. Naive theory about how polls work: electorate -> random sampling -> poll results. More realistic: electorate -> make a model about what sort of geographical, educational, ethnic, party affiliation, and so on segments are relevant for sampling for a given region -> make a model about who will turn out -> modify models if any desired specific results -> sample until get what models say is required for relevant sample -> poll results.

  27. Besides an endorsement I don't think he really needs to. All Presidents should limit their involvement in partisan politics post presidency IMO. Bush did it, Clinton did it, etc.

  28. Not sure what 3. meant, so I said 'yes'. I agree that the Dems can try to stop the nomination if they decide she's not fit to serve, and that's up to them, as the Reps tried to stop the Garland nomination. Similarly, the Reps can try to confirm the nominee, and that's up to them. More specific questions about the methods used to do one or the other might have different answers, though.

  29. I personally don't think he believes in expanding the court. I think he just doesn't want to make a stance out of fear that it will decrease enthusiasm from the Left or Center. It's probably the smartest thing he could say. I'm about 90% sure he won't approve of expanding the court even if Barrett gets confirmed.

  31. I agree with @Reagan04 that the Warren and/or Sanders wing--possibly AOC--will take over the Dems. I think Trumpism is repudiated if he loses badly and if Dems look good going into midterms. I really don't know what to think. What happens to Trump supporters if GOP members denounce Trump? I think they'll have to appease them. To what level, I don't know. I think anyone hoping them to resurrect themselves from the ashes of Trump are going to be disappointed. I think they just have to go to the Democrats and help keep the party away from AOC and etc. with the moderate and establishment Dem

  32. This is cursed for multiple reasons. 1. Obama lost the convention because of Hillary despite winning a plurality of the popular vote and plurality of delegates. 2. Biden won the first four states because I purposely killed Obama in those states 3. Every state was locked in except Colorado and Nevada, the key swing states. 4. Biden was going to win Nevada and the election, but Ralph Nader spoiled the election by vote splitting. 5. I won the electoral vote despite losing the popular vote 6. Its Newt fucking Gingrich

  36. This race will most likely be the best performance by the Libertarian Party ever in a statewide race. They should be pouring all their money into this rather than Jorgensen's campaign. This is the Libertarian Party's best chance to legitimize themselves in a long time, perhaps ever.

  37. For your information, much of the events that you describe happened before you got on the forum. I wouldn't pretend to know about events that you didn't witness, and that I did. I am simply asking for more enforcement of the rules rather than less, which I feel like shouldn't be a big thing to ask, and the admin seemed to agree as well.

  45. If Trump loses, my wish is that Tim Scott becomes the nominee in 2024 and the GOP opens up considerably to voters of color, immigrants, college-educated whites, and LGBT voters. If Biden loses, Dems are going to run right off the Socialism cliff a la AOC and gang.
