Any interest in More 2008 scenerios?

Recommended Posts

I know several have been done already, but, quite frankly, most, while lots of fun, don't look too realistic.

with the promise of Primaries being added, I'm thinking of adding numerous canidates for each of the Major Parties:

Democrats:

Gov. Bill Richardson, NM

Gov. Ed Rendell, PA

Sen. Bill Nelson, FL

Sen. Hilary Clinton, NY

ex-Sen. John Edwards, NC

Sen. Mary Landrieu, LA

Gov. Tom Vilsack, IA

Gov. Jennifer Granholm, MI

Gov. Mark Warner, VA

Gov. Janet Napolitano, AZ

Republicans:

Sen. John McCain, AZ

Gov. Jeb Bush, FL

Gov. Bob Taft, OH

Gov. Mitt Romney, MA

Gov. George Pataki, NY

Gov. Mark Sanford, SC

ex-Mayor Rudy Guliani, NYC

so far

maybe in an alternative world

Gov. Arnold Schwartznegger CA - ANTHONY! his name won't fit! (could happen, the Con. Amd. is already being considered by the Judiciary Committee)

Sen. Mel Martinez, FL

also thinking of adding a Progressive Party, something very Centrist, w/ a ex-Sen. like Bob Kerrey and an ex-Gov. like Chistine Todd Whitman as the nominees

face it, the Greens are washed-up, and the Libertarians are never-weres

no offense, but the Constitution Party is on par with the Birthday and Surprise Parties

also thinking of doing two or three different scenerios: one where the 2nd Bush term was triumphant; one where it was disasterous; and one where little has changed

ideas for issues folks? let me know.

thanks

johnny

On the Democratic Side - There are 5 big name Democrats who will most likely be the nominee

Hillary Clinton

Al Gore

Howard Dean

John Edwards

John Kerry

That's it. While I personally doubt Kerry would run again, his name deserves to be in there. How do you not have Dean or Gore????

And the following people make for good VP's, but not Presidential material:

Sen. Mary Landrieu, LA

Gov. Tom Vilsack, IA

Gov. Jennifer Granholm, MI

Gov. Mark Warner, VA

Gov. Janet Napolitano, AZ

Gov. Bill Richardson, NM

Gov. Ed Rendell, PA

Sen. Bill Nelson, FL

On the Republican Side, the names will be -

Jeb Bush

Bill Frist (How in the universe do you NOT have this guy's name in there???)

John McCain

Alan Keyes

The rest are either VP's or shouldn't be in there at all. Taft?? He's highly unpopular in Ohio, didn't you notice how Bush NEVER had him at any of his rallies or mentioned him?? Romney is way too liberal and MA is a rock solid blue state so that would be pointless. Sanford? Why does the GOP need a white man from South Carolina? that's pointless.

Giuliani and Pataki are good VP material, but too liberal for the top spot.

What about Condoleezza Rice??

hey

all good, the more the merrier - I'll add all those folks

why not, we got 4 yrs to see what happens

Taft and Richardson look like comers to me, just a feeling

I've used Landrieu in '04 several times, she's just cute as a button, you know ;o)

ISSUES, is what I want!

rosy scenerio: Democracy has broken out like acne in the Middle East - the new Saudi President and Iranian President have summits w/ the new Palestinain President etc.

not so rosy: US troops are bogged down in guerilla war from Tehran to Damascus, Draft dodgers are being thrown in prison, and 1,000,000's are protesting in DC

stuff like that

any word on the Primaries yet?

thanks, btw, for the answers - I'd forgotten Frist and Condie Rice d'oh!

*election hangover, soz - ain't been sober in a week ;o)*

Actually No.

Balanced Budgets historically are a Conservative view. President Clinton brought it into play and really made it a jewel of the Democrats time in the white house. Now with Bush Spending out of control and insane tax cuts have made Balanced Budget more of a Democratic policy.

But the policy remains conservative to my knowledge.

Very true Jospiv. Excellent point. Clinton was more of a fiscal Conservative then is George W. Bush.

Yeah,

A true left position would be bigger spending and the true right would be less spending

You could even keep it as it is historically and make GOPers more to the left on that issue :D

Okay, the first 2008 "Red Dawn" scenerio is nearly done. As the name implies, it is not happy days for the Democrats (field includes: John Edwards, Howard Dean - by request, Al Gore - by request, John Kerry - by request, Sen. Mary Landrieu, LA, Sen. Bill Nelson, FL, Gov. Bill Richardson, NM, Gov. Ed Rendell, PA, Gov. Mark Warner, VA, Gov. Gary Locke, WA, and, of course, Sen. Hilary Clinton, NY.) and rosy days for the Republicans (field includes: John McCain, Gov. Jeb Bush, FL, Alan Keyes - by request, Sen. Bill Frist, TN - by request, Gov. George Pataki, NY, Gov. Mark Stanford, SC, Gov. Mitt Romney, MA, Condi Rice, and the ringer, Gov. Ah-nald Schwarznegger (Schwar'ger) just in case, never know?)

LAST CHANCE TO BITCH BEFORE I SEND IT IN 12PM EST TONIGHT! (course you can add whomever you want to later)

*btw, I don't believe Jeb's statement today that he is not going to run for Prez in '08 at all at all*

Electorally it looks like 1972 Nixon v. McGovern all over again but it is actually closer than the map suggests. A well plotted electoral strategy and a Democrat can win (I just won with my gal Landrieu over Jeb Bush by a gnat's wing - only way to win w/ McGovern too unless you play w/ Dynamism, which I don't).

Greens and Reformers are present but, pretty much irrelevant.

Next scenerio will be 2008 "Blue Moon" which will look alot more like 1968 probably and, yes, Obama will be in that one!

cheers!
