Suggestion for States

Recommended Posts

Though I'm glad the problem of "inverted states" was fixed for the general elections, I feel like they may be a little...too unmalleable. Moderate Southern States like Virginia or Tennessee may very well go Democrat in 2008..same with midwestern states like Missouri. The reverse is true for states like Maine and Michigan. Just thought I'd point this out, maybe make some of the states more malleable...especially since many of the front-runners (McCain, Obama, etc...) are individuals who transcend the typical Blue State/Red State divide. And it's especially confounding when Warner makes it to the general but Virginia will be "solidly" Republican.

This should be handled by Warner's homestate bonus. We'll look at exactly what he is getting.

Thanks,

Is it that there is a default statewide bonus? If so, some candidates should have different bonus values depending on how popular they are in their state. Warner's would be high as he enjoyed even 80% approval rates as governor, while Gore would have a low bonus in 2000 as he lost even his home state.

Yes, it's a default value of 5. What would be better is the same system as we have for Veep candidates - where the scenario designer can specify as many regions and the particular bonuses or penalties for that candidate.

I imagine this is already known to the game designer, but New Hampshire swings to both parties... infact it generally chooses the winning candidates.
