New Features and Ideas

- Long term campaigning. (could be turned into career campaigning)

- Basically a part of the game where you are campaigning while in office, you obviously cannot do the level of campaigning which you can do at the election time. However, if you had more than 2-3 months to campaign, you may be able to actually get a party into power who would never in a million years have a majority without really really slick campaigning. As well, it could raise the initial coffers as well.

- (Everyone has said it, I may as well too) More than 4 parties

- A scenario editor

- Smear campaigning. (Actual ways to fine tune a smear campaign against another candidate, including using "non-related" groups.)

- The ability to control more than one "big figure" candidate for going from riding to riding and promoting the party. For example, while Harper was the leader of the conservatives, Stronach could still have an influence in other ridings (albeit less so).

Just thoughts.

One other idea that I thought would be awesome would be different goal conditions that you can set on a party by party basis for scenarios.

IE. if you are playing the Greens during the 2004 elections. A goal condition could be to get 3% of the vote to get the money for the next election. Or if you are playing the NDP, a goal condition could be to get certain candidates elected.

These goal conditions add values to your final score, and thus you can do better by completely primary, secondary and tertiary goals. (As well as bonus goals if you get them through random events.)

This would totally add to the value of the game immensely.

If you could set your own goals when starting the scenarios. That would be cool. It could be a set number of choices, which could then be rated according to points achieved for the hall of fame, or maybe just difficulty ('nigh on impossible', 'hard' etc. in similar vein).

The idea I like the most is the Scenario Editor...a more concrete way to make scenarios without having the manually edit all of the files.

That would be very nice, yes. It wouldn't even be that hard to make, someone with halfarsed programming skills would surely be able to make it? It's just a program putting various numbers and tags in various places - that ought to be doable?

The scenario checker is a nice step on the way. For scenario making spastics like me (I can't get my Denmark scenario to work :fume: :D ) an editor would be great - like the candidate editor!

THere are in PM4E UK...and there's goals, too...

This really bothers me, I bought PM4E-Canada without any warning that the scenarios didn't work, or that there is a much more complete PM4E game (PM4E-UK). Why would 80soft create 2 completely different games, and have one really stripped down?

PM4E Canada was created and released sometime before the election in June 2004. It only had 4 parties because that's all that was really needed. PM4E UK was released in 2005 with more parties because Britain has more parties that need to be in the game. In other words, the 'stripped down' version was released before the new one. They weren't created at the same time. The new one was created a year after. 'Buyer beware', I suppose.
