The Great Twitter Hack of 2020

Recommended Posts

As I type this some twitter account is hacking into famous accounts posting the message below. So far Elon, Ye, Bezos, Apple, Uber, Mike Bloomberg and now JOE BIDEN, have been compromised.

We're all waiting, will they get Trump?

Obama has also been compromised. Quickly deleted. The actual amount of money laundered has ranged from 100,000 to upwards of 10 million dollars worth of bitcoin. This is a truly insane developing story.

It should be noted that today is Twitter's 13th anniversary. Talk about bad luck!

Sounds like might be an exploit of something re Twitter in general, and that any account would be susceptible until it's fixed by Twitter.

Is it Russian or North Korean hackers? Or is it Anonymous or the Lulz Boat making a big comeback?

It's rumored their using the employee panel to do this, and Twitter blocked employee access to Trump's account after an employee deleted it awhile back. So unlikely they get Trump if that rumor is true.

Would make sense.

Imagine someone actually believing that Joe Biden is giving everyone bitcoins, and only for the next 30 minutes.

To be that gullible for an obvious scam, I would picture someone who is too old to even know what a bitcoin is.

As the analysis has been completed, it looks like the high end estimates were all pie in the sky. The final anylsis looks like they got away with roughly $121,000 worth of bitcoin. Still, a pretty penny to be sure.

It smacks of a scheme by a group like Anonymous or Lulz Boat, or their ilk, than Russian, Chinese, or North Korean hackers, by far...
