American and Canadian flags

Recommended Posts

Since I love vexillology probably as much as Sheldon Cooper does (I learned all country's flags by heart when I got my first atlas when I was maybe five years old) I know since a long time about a flag survey in 2001 on the opinion about American and Canadian flags. Maybe you don't, so I am going to share the results with you in the light of the whole discussion down in Mississippi. 2001 was already a year about debating the flags of Mississippi and Georgia:

My personal favorites from an artistic perspective are probably Missouri, South Dakota and Arkansas.

You do know that Newfoundland & Labrador is a single Province with one flag. Labrador's flag is not official in a governmental or administrative way. If you're including the Labrador Flag as separate, you also have to include the flags of Cascadia, "the State of Jefferson," Northern Ontario, Cape Breton Island, Vancouver Island, South Florida, the Western Canadian Republic, the Assembly of First Nations, the American Indian Movement, and the Inuit Circumpolar Council (these are flags of parts of, or groupings of, or groupings of parts of, U.S. States or Canadian Provinces with notable movements to change their current political and administrative that actually, like Labrador, have agreed upon and created flag (many other such regional movements in this mold have no created and/or agreed-upon flag) that are official, governmentally, like that of a Canadian Province or Territory or American State, Federal District, Incorporated Territory, or Commonwealth). Sorry to nitpick, but the Labrador flag was notable sticking out in that regard.

Well I did not conduct the poll (which I copied from the above link), so I am not the one responsible for that issue, but thanks for the clarification!

@Conservative Elector 2 I started memorizing the flags when I was 5 as well. The grocery store used to sell almanacs and I would look at the flags whenever my parents were shopping.

I haven't had them memorized since the 1980s and early 90s. However, I could probably get about 85% of them correct or more.
