Poll

The Alliance Party, a merger of 10 moderate and centrist parties (including the Modern Whig Party, above, which was a main mover for the merger, as well the Independence Party of Minnesota, the party Jesse Venture won in 1998 and 2002 on the ticket of) looks quite interesting.

Libertarians (but it's close)
Greens (disagree 99% but they have a clear message and aren't corrupt)

Honestly just those two. Would do Constitution but i'm not a fan of Theocracy.

But, but... @Reagan04 says they're not at all Theocrats, and that's just mudslinging - SOMEHOW... :S

You’re missing a “none of the above” option.

Yeah, I need a "none of the above." I am not favorable of any US Party I don't think. I favor ideas, policies, and individuals. I will prefer the party that has the most of these.

The parties that I neither favor nor disfavor are Democrats, Green, Justice, Socialist because all four often have great ideas and policies.

The three 3rd parties from this list sink because they can't find any sort of JFK, Obama, TR, FDR, Reagan, Jackson, Hamilton, Jefferson, Clay, Wilson like figure that inspires as a potential president. They get people like Jill Stein that has no charisma, is often petty, is often clueless about how elections work or even how government or the Constitution works. They also have to be aware that 80% of the country isn't on board with their ideas some of the time. As such, you have to do what you can to win over a huge chunk of that 80%. It might mean making compromises and ignoring the purists. The parties may remain purist and idealistic and never reach 5% of the vote, or they can accept dilution and get beyond 5%. This goes for the Green, Justice, and Socialist Parties--all parties I like, but I cannot favor them until they become electable. Ask me this question again when they're strong enough to endanger any major party from reaching 270 EVs.

As for the Democrats, it really matters what their platform is, and who is in charge. I think I would find a Democratic Party led by Sanders and/or Warren favorable, so long as the Democrats in the House and Senate are totally on board and not trying to fight them. A Democratic Party led by Obama would be favorable in rhetoric only, since Obama is more words than actions, progressively speaking. However, he did soon have Congress against him in his defense.

Historically, the only times I think I would have favored a party would have been:

  • Pro-Administration (1788-1792) (predate Federalist Party)
  • DeWitt Clinton's 1812 Fusion Party of moderate Jeffersonian-Republicans and moderate Federalists
  • JQ Adams National Republican (Adams's Men) wing that soon became part of the Whig Party--use of government to increase the pace of modernization.
  • The various abolitionist parties (Liberty, Free Soil, and 1856 Republicans). I tend not to like mostly single-issue parties with no shot at election but ending slavery was the greatest cause in US history.
  • Lincoln Republicans (1860-1865)
  • Republican Reconstructionists (1865-1876). They were corrupt, but they were determined to protect the rights of freemen and poor whites (once the latter were pardoned) in the South in arguably the greatest Civil Rights efforts in US history.
  • Progressive Parties from 1900-1952, including Roosevelt's Bull Moose and La Follette's. I also include the instances in which they were just wings within the major parties.
  • FDR Democrats 1932-1945, outside of the internment camps and occasional reluctance on Civil Rights reforms.
  • Rockefeller Republicans, outside of Cold War aggressiveness.
  • Peace Wing in the Democrats during the 1960s.
  • Kucinich, Warren, Sanders wing of the Democrats in the 21st century

As much as I seem like someone that would be in line with 3rd parties, they seem to annoy me by their willful obliviousness, which is a kind of ignorance. Their heart and minds are in the right place otherwise, but it's like they refuse to acknowledge how elections are won in the current system. They operate as if they have no intention of ever winning. They'd rather be right than win. Sometimes always being right isn't the right thing to do. It's better to win the office and then do the right thing. You'll accomplish nothing in your broad platform if you can't enforce it, otherwise you're all sound and fury signifying nothing.

These 3rd parties really should just try to create wings in the major parties and take them over from within. Think Sanders and Rand Paul joining major parties (although, Sanders isn't officially in), or Trump infesting the GOP.

N/A

Don't know enough about the parties besides the Greens and Libertarians.

The Greens suck on almost all of their policies, and the Libertarians are a dumpster fire with no real electoral prospects.
