Warren ties Biden nationally

Recommended Posts

New Economist/Yougov poll shows Warren tied with Biden at first place nationally with 26% each, followed by Sanders in third (16%), Harris and Buttigieg tied for 5th (6% each).  Everyone else is 2% or lower.

Economist/Yougov is not a DNC-approved poll and therefore is not considered for purposes of debate qualifications...but even if it was, it wouldn't actually help any of the candidates who don't already have a debate invite -- they all polled at 1% or worse.

Compared to last week's Economist/Yougov poll, Warren has climbed by 4% to tie Biden.  Both polls had Biden at 26%, but Warren was only at 22% last week.

Aside from one poll last month that indicated Biden was actually 1 point behind in a three-way race, this is the first poll that doesn't show Biden winning nationally.

Ya, YouGov has had Warren close before this, so this isn't as big a difference as some other polls. Still interesting. The change seems to come from a decrease in undecideds. Biden's %s stayed the same (26%), Warren's and Sander's increased.

If you look at the RCP averages, Biden has dropped about eight points since June 1st.  Most of those votes have gone to Warren, with Yang gaining a bit.  Everybody else is within a point of where they were then.
