Come on, @ThePotatoWalrus, spit it out. If supporting North Korea and "countries like it" is a huge indicator of how bad a politician La Riva is, and that she deserves no support and is a failed politician for that flaw alone, how does, by your same standard, Donald Trump not get the same mark against him for supporting Saudi Arabia? I'm still waiting.

I'm really sick at the moment and also have extremely low iron levels for some reason, so I won't be able to make a long response, but as a person of your pristine intelligence (and I mean that genuinely, you are for sure above average), you know that to compare Saudi Arabia (which is indeed a flawed country) with North Korea is extremely unrealistic. North Koreans live under a dictatorship which is incomparable to those who live in Saudi Arabia. For starters, North Koreans can't even leave their own country, while it is possible to do so as a Saudi. Sure, living under Sharia Law is pretty horrible, but Saudi Arabia is doing pretty fine financially (GDPPC and HDI), whereas under North Korean Socialism people are starved and executed by their own government.

Saudi Arabia, while we shouldn't be as close to them as we currently are, is a global power that we must maintain relations with (what do you want, war?), North Korea is a nuclear dictatorship and the fact that you think the two are comparable makes me question your intellect.

I don't want war, of course not. But Saudi interests, in part, have already dragged the U.S. and other Western nations into two war, numerous interventions, and constant screwing around in the Middle Easts - the very activities that are the source and reason for "extremist Islamist terrorism" directed at Western nations in the first place. Also, as horrible as they are, North Korea does not literally DEMAND constant amounts of money, troops, and military equipment, and binding treaties to jump to their defense at the drop of a hat, while threatening Western journalists and even government employees who complain too much about their rights and, with the other hand, finance and support militias, government, activist groups, and "terrorist groups" hostile to their very allies - even if said allies are only China and Russia, and only tenuously so - like Saudi Arabia does to theirs - and they receive what they want reliably. And, in the end, how is a theocratic absolute monarchy "not even remotely comparable" to Juche. You may not be aware, but Juche does more checks and balances internally on the whims the Supreme Leader than the King of Saudi has on his. And, Saudi Arabia's number of executions per year is comparable to North Korea's - only Iran, the United States, and China outdo either for judicially-handed-down executions of any countries in the world right now. Personally, I believe any Western leader who is an ally of EITHER nation is insulting their own people and nation and the principles and ideals their founded, and insulting their nations' military tradition by being willing to send their troops to defend, or cooperate military, with these countries, and are committing a betrayal of their own people, nation, and values by giving such support to either - or any other nation like them, including those vile tyrants supporting by Western nations all through the Cold War obstensibly to "stop the spread of Communism," by installing something just as bad - great logic there. In fact, I view such support, and continued support, by these Western leaders and government as tantamount to treason and sedition against their own people, nations, and values. The West doesn't have to choose - we shouldn't be supporting or allying with such period. And thus, in my opinion, both La Riva AND Trump are betraying their nations they live by demanding the support of the regimes they do
