Na.  That would’ve been Texas v California.

I disagree, California is too similar to Texas.

I'm sort of curious how so? They are almost culturally and geographically distinct from each other.

High concentrations of Hispanic population due to their Southwest positioning. Similar massive economies that both tap into the energy sector and both have incredibly thriving cities. They both have Desert-like areas and warm sunny beaches. Not to mention both of them have been bastions of conservatism for up until recently in the case of California.

Actually, that was just a rhetorical deflection. In truth, I like to view these matters more realistically, holistically, multifacetedly, and comprehensively, not in vapid, stupid, bad stereotypes, uninformed, cliched, broad-strokes, and troped demographic and political labels as "absolute terms" and even simplistic, binary, black-and-white Manichaean thinking - all thought the world would be far, far better place around without. In fact, the type of thinking I mentioned that I like avoid absolutely soaks every post you make. :(

Without Massachusetts at the head of progress since our country was founded, our nation would be far worse off.

Anyone who cares about the advancement, prosperity, respect, and ideals of the United States SHOULD dislike and everyone like you among them. People with your viewpoints and attitudes are WHY American is no longer great, and is in no foreseeable ETA of getting back there. You're not a nationalist or a patriot, you're a backstabbing saboteur of your own nation's greater interests. I hope that makes you proud!

So, America is objectively about giving up the ideals of the Founding Fathers and the visions of liberty and opportunity to embrace an imperialistic engine of war, tyranny, and exploitation ruled by unaccountable criminals - effectively BECOMING the British Empire the U.S. declared independence from and that Thomas Jefferson so excoriated for such actions and viewpoints in the Declaration of Independence. And, in a nation with guaranteed Freedom of Speech, the Press, and Conscience, who decides which political ideology is OBJECTIVELY what ALL America stands, which are declared 'traitors by conscience' (a status of labelling whose very existence is Unconstitutional to make) - like say @Dr. Insano, @vcczar, @WVProgressive, who are Americans, and agree with me on MOST of these matters.

Is this a socialist? Whose people call any speech they disagree with hate speech? And its only freedom of speech if they agree with it? Is a commie seriously invoking freedom right now? And dont get me started on how your ideology inhibits economic freedoms.

Do we need even bring up gun ownership? What about the rights of the unborn for equal protection under the law? And the right to due proccess?

Just FYI, I am a conservative that is Pro LGBT, opppsed to the drug war, and I only believe in wars we are fighting to win because they effect us or fighting to win standing up for other oppressed innocence. I hated Iraq and Vietnam, and Afganistan. So dont put words in my mouth. My great uncle died in ww2. All I have from him is a letter ro our family from Eisenhower and his medals.....he died on the beaches of Normandy in '44

His brother made it home and was my great grandad. And he fought for freedom. So dont tread on that!

First of all, please don't conflate WW2 with ANY military activity being by the U.S., or any other nation, in the world today. The situations were so TOTALLY different such a comparison is UTTERLY disingenuous. And I had a grandfather and a great uncle in WW2 as well (in fact, my great uncles had been part of the joint American-Canadian commando unit commonly called "the Devil's Brigade," and suffered PTSD after the war (of course, it wasn't diagnosed or treated back then, and was often called "nerves" or being "shell-shocked" back then, and he fell into alcoholism and tried, in vane, to sue the Canadian Army for his problems). Also, due process is a joke in the U.S. Poor people get the book thrown at them, often for minor crimes, and many get pegged for things they didn't do because "they're likely suspects and it cleans up the case quickly." Privately-run contract prisons break the 13th Amendment by practicing slave labour - and nothing meaningful is done about. Meanwhile, the very wealthy and politically powerful practically never get tried or convicted for their crimes, and many - including political leaders, many military leaders, members of the "alphabet soup" agency terrorist groups on the government payroll, etc., are actually protected from ANY legal consequences for the utterly monstrous and horrid crimes they do for the government). The (Un)-Patriot Act was also a HUGE blow to due process. The motto "and Justice for All" has become more than a vile taunt, for the majority case, in the modern day and age. Socialist and social democratic ideals are not explicitly Unconstitutional (admittedly, full hard Communism would be). Although I believe that abortion happens far too often, and should not just be a form of birth control, I believe, at the end of the day, the mother's rights should supercede the fetus she's carrying. Economic freedoms, like a due process, have become a joke in the U.S., and STRONGLY favour the powerful plutocrats who are already rich. Gun ownership rights is an obsolete concept, created in a long-ago day when the U.S. was a pioneer nation with undefended borders, scant law-enforcement, wild animals, hostile Natives, bandits, rebelling Slaves, pirates, and other such things easily encountered along main roads, and men who answered the call of military duty brought their own guns - they weren't issued them on the government's dimes. Those days are no longer.

You don't even know how to stereotype right. AOC is from New York and Massholes drink Dunkin', not Starbucks. And I've never heard of Texas beer, Boston beer is definitely much more common...

Tell me, do you have the communist manifesto memorized or are you just paraphrasing?

I only mentioned Communism once, and admitted, that UNLIKE the application of certain modern Socialist and Social Democratic ideals, Communism was NOT compatible with the U.S. Constitution. So I don't see the relevance of the question.

Chances are that your great uncle voted for FDR, someone you'd probably call a Socialist.

I support gun ownership, especially for poor and black people, unlike Ronald Reagan.

John Adams, George Bush, Woodrow Wilson, were all well known Socialists :P.

Also, if you respond to this, know that I'm not a Leninist, so don't try to bring up the Eastern Bloc as some sort of gotcha.
