Is political compass Left Biased?

Recommended Posts

I found it right there on their analysis of the french presidential election:

Macron, for example, is regularly reported as being economically ‘liberal’ and socially ‘left wing’. In reality, Macron is a classic libertarian in the US sense, with a socially liberal outlook and, crucially, an extreme right wing (ie neoliberal) economic agenda. This mix appeals to a significant section of younger voters who, being steadfastly pro-business, dislike most forms of state engagement in either the economy or society in general. He‘s certainly the closest of the candidates to Social Darwinism.

Thats one of the most bullshit ever I never heard about Macron.

Wrong at every lines.

1 In France we work 35h per week and Macron did not plan to raise it unlike François Fillon.

Macron just want to cut 60 000 public workers while Fillon wants to reduce public function by 500 000.

2 Macron is reinstoring some kind of national service which is a pure pro state compulsory engagement and the reason why I am no longer active in his party.

And when I see the following:

Fillon, unlike Macron, marries conservative social policies with neoliberal economics; but this most establishment of the candidates is dogged with an undignified judicial enquiry that undermines his moral authority.

WTF... Fillon wanted to liberal hours of work, raise taxs for the poorest and massively cut in industries and salaries' taxs like he wanted to reduce public function by 440 000 jobs more than Macron...

Hamon’s attempts to portray himself as different from the market-friendly Hollande Socialist Party

"Friend market"? France is 77th country for making business in the last classements.

I'm no expert on France but that doesn't seem to match anything I've read about Macron.

It seems same here

US Presidential Presidential candidates 2012 including Donald Trump, Jill Stein, Gary Johnson and Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton is way too much right on economy while her 2016 program was really liberal than the previous from the Democratic party and she was NOT so much conservative in her platform

Gary Johnson as the opposite was truly libertarian on society despite this they consider Jill Stein as more progressive

Isn't political compass editor a socialist libertarian?

Johnson really wasn't that libertarian (which lead to many libertarians to not support his candidacy).  But, you have a point about Hillary.

French Election 2017 Chart including Fillon, Hamon, Le Pen, Macron, Mélenchon

what they claim

I'd also think Le Pen should be more towards the left (socialist) side of the spectrum as well.

Personally, I believe these examples, and many, many, many others, show the traditional political spectrum is quickly becoming obsolete. Unfortunately, pollsters, analysts, pundits, doctrinaires, and politicians themselves will very likely insist on shoving these terms down our throats for quite a while longer to come, and artificially and arbitrarily continue to jam and force candidates, parties, ideologies, and stances on issues into these terms, often awkwardly and in an overtly contrived manner.

You're right, she had a really socialist program

Basically if I had to point back the real positions, Macron would stay where he is on society but drop to 0 to 3 points right on economy (so not 9 but -6)

Fillon can stay where he is

Hamon 2 points Left on economy and 5 points DOWN toward Libertarian society

Melenchon 1 point Left on economy and 5 points DOWN toward Libertarian society
