Convince Me!

Recommended Posts

It really depends on the product(s) you own, and what features you would like. For example, if you own President Infinity, do you want to update to the official 2020 campaign when it's released? Do you want to be able to play networked games? You can see a list of planned features for the Autumn 2018 release (and beyond) here.

I got an email from @admin_270 about a subscription expiring. Convince me. Why is this worth more of my money than what I paid initially?

Okay, I'll step in, from a more unbiased point of view, looking at why I subscribed.

Developing games costs money, and PI only attracts a limited number of people, but they want to develop PI more, and add more things. You can continue playing the current version forever, if you so choose. 270soft isn't Ubisoft, so they won't TAKE YOUR MONEY THEN NOT LET YOU PLAY YOUR GAMES. (I have more beef with ubisoft than a butcher shop). They want to keep adding things, but the money is running out, so they have a choice, push a subscription that will reward them for addt'l work put in, or essentially do the work for free and hope more political nerds spawn. They chose route A. So think of it more as paying for the favorability, 2020, and networking updates. They could have done what some developers do, and put it out as a separate game, and charged more for that, but chose to keep working with PI, and not charge for a whole new game.

Quite simple. It's good PR, and it makes the owner a nice wad of money.

I dont care how much money the developer has. Honestly. No offense @admin_270

It just matters more to me that I have $$$. But that's also the beauty of free enterprise.

@LokiLoki22 its too soon to care about 2020 tho. 2018 isnt even over.

The primaries literally start next year. And you wouldn't want to play with an 'Official' and up-to-date scenario with actual candidates, endorsers, and polls etc.? In addition to favorability and all of those other future updates it sounds pretty fair to me.

I, myself, have no further serious or major interest in any scenario where Donald Trump is a candidate or (as in certain CI scenarios) a sitting President around Congressional elections. I'm doing other things.

....because Donald Trump never gets boring. Ya gotta admit, at a certain point, you just want to do other things. I've always worked on ~70s and `80s scenarios, and truthfully I don't see that changing. 2016-20 was fun, and when an official scenario comes out, I'll probably play it, but at this point, I'm just bored of fussing over something that will roll on towards whatever conclusion it comes to regardless of my fuss or lack there of. So really being an ass for no good reason doesn't do anything but... well... make you look like an ass. Not meant as an insult, but reciting the same thing, over and over, in increasingly out of place settings won't make you any friends, especially when it derails an otherwise good conversation, as it has here. Either learn to read, and debate properly (and on the right posts), or accept that your reputation here will suffer as long as you keep doing this.

Sincerely, Everyone who is tired of this.

I don't believe he's the worst thing that's happened to the United States by far. Even as just Presidents go, I feel that Jackson, Polk, Pierce, Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, McKinley, Wilson, the three-punch combo of Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover that led to the Great Depression, and George W. Bush were FAR worse, and Nixon was roughly as bad. The difference between Trump and the rest of this rogues gallery is that the others' are not nearly so sensationalized, glamourized, in-your-face all the time, made out to be grossly things they aren't, given credit for achievements they haven't done or haven't borne fruit yet and attributed qualities they don't have, and, other than maybe Jackson, have their failings, flaws, mistakes, and repugnant personality traits completely ignored as though they're forgivable, as long as it's him, as they'd be the political demise of anyone else. This unrealistic, cult-of-personality, reality-show-celebrity status he enjoys among his supporter is not only inappropriate, it's disturbing and does not portend anything good at all.

Ok Hoover was bad....Harding was bad. Polk didnt do much....

Wilson caused the great Depresson. Make no mistake, harding and hoover both contributed. Coolidge forsaw a depression and actually tried to stop it so dunp lump coolidge in there.

Andew Jackson was eh. Peirce and Buchanon did absolutely nothing.

Trump is a long way from the best but he isnt the worst.

Now you 'triggered' me.

Excluding founding fathers which are I would say first 16 presidents up to Lincoln (because America was a different place and they should have their own list) so is a list of the best and worst presidents of the modern Era.

5 worst presidents

5. Woodrow Wilson

4. Lyndon B Johnson

3. Barack Obama

2. Jimmy Carter

1. FDR

5 best Presidents

5. Theodore Rooselvelt

4. Dwight D Eisenhower

3. Harry S Truman

2. John F Kennedy

1. Ronald Reagan

@jdm06ltd , really? FDR is the worst President ever? Wilson caused the Great Depression? That's even more ridiculous than most of the shit that I say. Say what you will about FDR policy-wise, but he was definitely one of the greatest leaders that we have ever had, taking us through the biggest military and economic crises this country has faced both at the same time. I'd even agree that Wilson is one of the worst Presidents ever economically, but I wouldn't say he created or even was a huge part of the Great Depression. If anything (despite the thing he said about Coolidge contributing to the depression when he literally had the least hands-on approach to the named Presidents), @Patine is mostly right.

I will agree that James Buchanan is shit on unfairly. He only looks like a bad President in hindsight, at the time, without knowing what we know now, he wasn't making bad decisions. I wouldn't say that he was a good or even active President, but he was doing the best he could and I wouldn't say he was the worst President.

I'd put Trump in my top 2 but that's my personal opinion.

I... agree. A surprise, for sure, but a welcome one. Anyway, we're getting off topic, and should probably leave this or move it before @admin_270 kills it.

When Trumps presidency is over I will rank him.

FDR was a fine leader as an example of how to deal with other countries honestly Carter and Obama could be considered worse I just cant bring myself to rank them lower than a socialist that did damage to the economy that we are still paying for financially 70 years later.

And yeah Wilson is part of the reason we have credit, investment, and income taxes, and all of that DID plant tha seed that became the depression, to ne fair Hoover and Harding were awful and made the situation much worse, but without credit, and without income taxes it can be argued that the problem never would have started to begin with. Thus, the Wilson administration was responsible for the depression.

I liked Carter as a person but he just wasn't meant to be the President. (he would be my go-to for peanut farming though)

I don't see how Obama could be considered the worst President ever considering he never really did anything that I would consider bad. Despite my views on healthcare, enacting major legislation (Obamacare) that doesn't have a huge negative impact is a historical plus in my book, even if I don't like it.

Although the blame for ISIS doesn't fall fully on any one American President, or the U.S. itself (Saddam Hussein and Bashir al-Assad were sitting on bubbling cauldrons just waiting to overflow as it was), George W. Bush has the lion's share that any American President shoulders for the creation of ISIS.
