admin_270 82 Report post Posted August 10, 2018 @Patine What version of CI are you using? (right side of start screen)

admin_270 82 Report post Posted August 10, 2018 When you close the, say, Regions screen, and the app disappears, what happens if you press alt+Tab? Is the CI app listed among those you can select?

admin_270 82 Report post Posted August 10, 2018 And when you select it using alt+Tab, what happens?
Patine 35 Report post Posted August 10, 2018 10 minutes ago, admin_270 said: And when you select it using alt+Tab, what happens? It flashes briefly (as in a split-second) in a smaller-than-normal window, then instantly minimizes again.
admin_270 82 Report post Posted August 10, 2018 Hmmm ... It might be that the original window is getting moved off your desktop for some reason. What happens if, after the window disappears, you right click on your taskbar (bar at bottom of your screen) and click 'Cascade windows'?
admin_270 82 Report post Posted August 10, 2018 Also, is there anything unusual about your display set up (such as using two monitors)?

"Cascade windows" is greyed out as an option when the minimized CI is the only active program on the taskbar. 9 hours ago, admin_270 said: Also, is there anything unusual about your display set up (such as using two monitors)? I am not using two (or more) monitors, and no unusual display setups or options that I'm aware are active or relevant.

admin_270 82 Report post Posted August 13, 2018 From the main Editor screen, are there any screens you can open and then close without the program minimizing to your taskbar? Also, do you have PMI or PI to try out, and if so, do you get the same sort of behaviour in the Editor?

In CI, the Leaders tab also leads to this off behaviour, the Issues tab does not, and the Parties won't even open, claiming it can't find the "required file" (there are no files missing in the given folder that are in other CI scenario folders). PMI works properly on all but the Leaders tab, where it also has this anomalous behaviour. PI has this anomalous behaviour on Leaders, Parties, Regions, and Issues, but the other tabs work properly. I'm not sure what to make of this at all... :S
admin_270 82 Report post Posted August 20, 2018 Can you tell me exactly what the "required file" error message is?
Patine 35 Report post Posted January 1 @admin_270 This problem has resurfaced in the CI scenario editor, but only in regard to the above mentioned forced, irreversible minimization of the game after leaving the Regions Editor sub-menu, forcing a Task Manager forced close of the program and, thus, the loss of all progress. Patine 35 Report post Posted January 2 @admin_270 I think the issue is that the editor will not acknowledge that I'm importing a new map, as well as a new fundamental polity, and all subdivisions are to be different as well. It either can't compute that, or it's just not allowing me to do so, in computer program paternalistic behavior to it's user.

admin_270 82 Report post Posted January 10 @Patine Please provide a step by step of how you create the error, including which game and version number. Post or send the campaign in question if it's campaign specific ( https://270soft.com/contact ).

Version 2.9.2 of CI has NOT fixed the issue of minimizing without an error message the editor (and the whole program) when I exit the regions editor, forcing to me use the Task Manager to force close the program, and also meaning I am ALWAYS unable to save progress if I enter the regions editor. admin_270 82 Report post Posted May 30 I believe when I tested this I was unable to replicate it - I have not received other bug reports about this, so it might be something about your specific system. This might be fixed in the latest internal. In the meantime before a new CI is released, the only workaround I can give is to use an XML editor for data related to the Regions screen where possible. You know, you're very fortunate I happen to have an XML editor, because initially, when first released, I thought your PI, PMI, and CI in-game editors were crap and incomplete, and I'd already been accustomed to manual text file editing from PM4E and K4E. But, it is still "grrr" worthy...
admin_270 82 Report post Posted May 31 16 hours ago, Patine said: when first released, I thought your PI, PMI, and CI in-game editors were crap and incomplete Ya, when first released they were incomplete, which was better than the alternative, having no point-and-click editing capabilities. That was a long time ago. They're pretty good now - they are used pretty much 100% for creating official campaigns - this is the only problem like this I'm aware of. Again, my guess is either it's system-specific or already fixed in the latest internal. Thanks for bringing this up - please let me know if it isn't fixed when the next CI version is released!
