The Status of Gott-Stein (1454)

7th Sconlair: Unnamed Head Councilman (Sconlair can't break constitution by appointing successors)

Popularity: 69%; Worchester remains popular, yet he resigned early so his popularity for his decisions could not be fully assessed.

Cities: Scottsville (1,928)

Rural Dwellers: 19

Island Exploration: 23.6% (+7.9%)

Population: 1,947 (335+125) people. The tradition of rural settling has begun for good.

-Additional Notes: Current immigration policies include land, housing, and later more land.

Economy: Depression; The status of the economy is relatively the same, which for the first time has made people angry. Profitt's shipbuilding initiative this decade has produced ten ships, which replaced all ships damaged by the storm. Worchester's reaction to the storm may have saved the people, but it has curved economic growth.

Electoral Makeup

Electoral System: Council; Thirteen Members are apart of this council, with elections every 5 years. (The electoral makeup in this post will represent after midterm elections.)

Independent: 54%

Traditional: 10%

Growth: 17%

Conservative: 19%

No Change

Council (1449-1454)

Independent: 7 One lost seat to become Sconlair, but was replaced by an Independent.

Growth: 2 Kept both seats. (Richard Brown and David Polk)

Traditional: 3 One seat lost to the Independents, but one seat gained from the Conservatives. (Joseph Whittle, and one random guy.)

Conservative: 1 One lost re-election, the seat lost to the Traditional Party (Morgan Daniels)

Election of June 1454 AD

@WVProgressive @Conservative Elector 2 @Illinois Moderate@CalebsParadox@FrancisXKennedy

It is time to state candidacies. The country is stable, and the current Sconlair is not running again.

Who will challenge a vacant seat?

Note: Election results will happen 48 hours after this post, or when all people interested in running post their candidate and campaign. If anyone wants to join, you may join as well.

Additional note: The RNG factor was meaningless, as the Sconlair resigned before most rolls could be done.

Drafted by Brown

-Economic stimulus package to return economy to growth

Drafted by Abner

             -  Government subsidies for art and culture to promote their growth on Gott-Stein ( to be done through the starting of a historical record keeping position, creation of a library, and a monument in the towns center to the founding fathers of Gott-Stein)

Drafted by Webley

-Establishing a judiciary system to settle disputes between citizens

-Adding a system of checks and balances to government

As a party all members have voted and had input in creating the platform, sections drafted by Abner and Brown will be implemented along side of Witte's agenda.

Election of June 1454 AD Results

Martin O'Neill / Gordon McIntosh (Conservative): 47%

Oswald Witte / George Whitfield (Growth): 53%

By receiving a plurality, Oswald Witte becomes Sconlair!

Note: This was rather surprising; O'Neill won a slim majority from independents and traditionalists, but for some odd reason enough conservatives defected to the opponent.

---------------------------------------------------------

Decisions for the 8th Sconlair, Oswald Witte@FrancisXKennedy

Decision 1#: Your party's platform brought forth a bunch of new ideas to the country. With such radical ideas, how do you plan to make sure the change in the country isn't too rapid?

Decision 2#: Your platform consisted of many public works-type ideals. Which ones are you going to implement first, and how will you support it with the way the country is set up?

Decision 3#: The economy has been stagnant for a long time, and finally the people are becoming unhappy. How will you address the stagnant economy?

Remember to add/change 3 of your own policies after making these decisions!

Special Event: N/A

---------------------------------------------------------

Electoral Makeup

Electoral System: Council; Thirteen Members are apart of this council, with elections every 5 years. (The electoral makeup in this post will represent after midterm elections.)

-----------------------------------------

Population Values

Independent: 53%

Traditional: 11%

Growth: 17%

Conservative: 19%

Minimal Change

-----------------------------------------

Council (1454-1459)

Independent: 8 One lost seat, but another regained it. Also gained another seat from the Traditional party.

Growth: 2 Kept both seats. (Richard Brown and David Polk)

Traditional: 1 Lost two seats, one to independents and the other to the Conservative Party. (One random guy)

Conservative: 2 Gained one seat from the Traditional Party (Morgan Daniels and Sidney Fitzgerald)

Traditional party took huge hits this election, RNG screwed them over just like they did the Conservatives in the Sconlair election.

Decision 3#: The economy has been stagnant for a long time, and finally the people are becoming unhappy. How will you address the stagnant economy?

I am quite pleased to have been elected, and I intend to do as much work for Gott-Stein as possible. I want to thank all of the great and hard scrabble citizens of our tough nation for giving Growth a chance and for allowing me the honor to serve.

D1. We will pursue our goals in a manner that prevents our people from being pushed too far. The projects will be staggered so as to ensure that manpower and resources can be allocated responsibly. This is elaborated upon in decision two.

D2. For the first five years we will be focusing on the establishment of the messenger service and the building of the smokehouse. Males above the age of thirteen, and below the age of seventeen will be hired as messengers for the town routes and older males will be hired to trek messages to the rural settlements and to captain the messenger squads.

We will hire all necessary males with building experience to become our public works construction brigade. They will be hired to complete the smokehouse and upon completion move to building an aqueduct should the appropriate fresh water source be located. I will task my son, Oscar with building a team and seeking out the proper water source, I will fund the expedition from my own coffers.

Along with these works, I would propose a separate ministry of sanitation that would be charged with keeping our waste out of the streets and away from the wells. The collected compostable waste should be made available for fertilizer by our farmers.

Again, these projects should be staggered to avoid over exerting our populous. The first projects (smokehouse and messengers) will be for the first five years the second (aqueduct and sanitation) will be for the second.

D3.

In addition to providing jobs beyond just sustenance farming and hunter gathering, the above programs will boost the economy through increased employment. Our citizens will be in a better position to trade with one another. External trade will also be a major focus, I would like to send our Vice Sconlair to speak to our native trading partners and procure an agricultural expert and to open our markets so that we can trade any surpluses for goods we can’t produce on our own.

B14.

A bill to form the Gott-Stein Ministry of Public works and a permanent public works brigade to build the Smokehouse and Aqueduct as well as the Ministry of Sanitation.

B15.

A bill to form the Postal Ministry tasked with establishing the Gott-Stein messenger service.

B16.

A bill to establish the Gott-Stein Judiciary Court for the settlement of all disputes between individuals, as well as between individuals and the state.

The Status of Gott-Stein (1464)

8th Sconlair: Oswald Witte

1st Vice-Sconlair: George Whitfield

Popularity: 31%; The Public Works initiative was highly unpopular, and this pushed even further when Oscar and his expedition for water perished in the Jungle. The court was also poorly received, as was the idea of nationalized employment. The only things saving Witte's term was the postal service and the trade initiatives, as well as record setting growth rates. Although, the Great Depression has sank his approval ratings even farther.

Cities: Scottsville (2,518)

Rural Dwellers: 35

Island Exploration: 27.7% (+4.1%)

The map will be compiled around June 1st through 3rd when I get home. Still on vacation.

Population: 2,553 (455+151) people. The tradition of rural settling has begun for good.

-Additional Notes: Current immigration policies include land, housing, and later more land.

Economy: Great Depression; The economy has collapsed; there has simply not been enough Government funding to work on any of the Government initiatives, leading to universal failures of everything. The population calls to immediately repeal the public works program, as this program has unilaterally created an even worse depression, called a Great Depression. Any other actions to repeal Government spending will be awarded too.

Trade: Trade has finally been organized in the Government, although it is almost nonexistent due to the depression.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Electoral Makeup

Electoral System: Council; Thirteen Members are apart of this council, with elections every 5 years. (The electoral makeup in this post will represent after midterm elections.)

HOT NOTE! Soon, the population will grow big enough to do actual electoral borders! However, if they remain in the city this won't happen.

-----------------------------------------

Population Values

Independent: 57%

Traditional: 15%

Growth: 13%

Conservative: 15%

The Population rebels against any party that supported public works, which lowers the Growth and Conservative party numbers. As the Traditional Party opposed it, they grew in number.

-----------------------------------------

Council (1459-1464)

Independent: 9 Gained one seat from the Conservative Party.

Growth: 2 Kept both seats in amazingly close elections. (Richard Brown and David Polk)

Traditional: 2 Won a seat from the Conservative Party.

Conservative: 0 Lost both seats due to public works outroar.

The council elections reflected the people's opinion; although RNG saved the Growth Party and bottlenecked Traditional Growth, it destroyed the Conservative Party.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Election of June 1464 AD

@WVProgressive @Conservative Elector 2 @Illinois Moderate@CalebsParadox@FrancisXKennedy

It is time to state candidacies. The country is in a Great Depression, and the fact that both parties that ran in the last election supported the policy that led to the Depression give the population serious doubt in those two Parties. @CalebsParadox has a serious chance to contest, along with anyone else.

Note: Election results will happen 48 hours after this post, or when all people interested in running post their candidate and campaign. If anyone wants to join, you may join as well.

Additional note: The RNG factor kept stabbing continuously at Witte's term, even landing the country in a Great Depression (When a roll from 1-100 results in a 1, and some others resulted in 3 and 7, you know RNG didn't like the term and sent the country into shambles)

Also, when I get home from vacation, I will build more complex country standings.

Oswald Witte now deeply depressed by the loss of his only son, and saddened by the failures of his term declines to run again.

“I’ve always been wary old men who cling to power for its own sake, and that’s what I’d be if I tried to run again. I still believe in my ideas, but maybe it just wasn’t their time. All I ask is that the next leader doesn’t take the tasks at hand lightly. God bless Gott-Stein.”

Traditional Councilman Jack Colton Declares Candidacy for Sconclairship!

Cncl. Colton of the Traditional Party, currently the largest represented party in the legislative body of Gott-Stein, declared his intention to be the next Sconclair of Gott-Stein. He is running on the normal Traditional Platform of back to the basics economic management, and encouraging fur production, lumber production, and production of any materials that typically are sustained outside the cities borders. His Vice Sconclair will be Cncl. Arthur Burns.

Colton would see government spending dramatically decrease, with most all public works projects immediately halted if Traditional Party gains enough seats. Another large difference in the economic policy of Colton versus the current Sconclair is that he would focus on external trade, and all encouraged industries should have a positive impact on our exports as well as increase the settlement of the city outskirts.

Election of June 1464 AD Results

Jack Colton / Arthur Burns (Traditional/Conservative): 57%

George Whitfield / Theodore Abner (Growth): 43%

By receiving a plurality, Jack Colton becomes Sconlair!

Electoral Notes: I am going to begin to expand the electoral notes, especially since the population is big enough to realistically have a strong influence of opinion on each candidate.

Traditional Party: This Party has the hope of the People, which was shown when the People acted positively to the governmental spending rollbacks, economic promises, and trade.

Conservative Party: The Party itself is in a state of confusion, as they have now seemed to have flip-flopped yet again. Where does this party even stand anymore?

Growth Party: The Party was severely hurt after being blamed for the Great Depression, which ended up hurting Whitfield's odds, especially after being Vice-Sconlair of the Sconlair. The people did sense some hope in that the Growth Party called for the establishment of religion and religious values.

---------------------------------------------------------

Decisions for the 9th Sconlair, Jack Colton @CalebsParadox

Decision 1#: Recently, trade has become a rising issue in Gott-Stein. Your campaign promised focus on trade; how will you build this trade to benefit the country?

Decision 2#: The Great Depression is still in effect; what are some steps you will take to get out of it?

Decision 3#: Gott-Stein has been growing rapidly, while rural settlement has still been minimal. What is your approach to a rapidly growing city as representing a grand number of the people?

Remember to add/change 3 of your own policies after making these decisions!

Special Event: A Native American tribe calling themselves the Seminole have recently made efforts to find a way to communicate with Gott-Stein (Note: Gott-Stein is located south-west of Bermuda but is still 50-100 miles off the coast of Florida.) How will you bridge the obvious gaps in communication, and how will you address Gott-Stein's first official foreign exchange?

---------------------------------------------------------

Electoral Makeup

Electoral System: Council; Thirteen Members are apart of this council, with elections every 5 years.

HOT NOTE! Soon, the population will grow big enough to do actual electoral borders! However, if they remain in the city this won't happen.

-----------------------------------------

Population Values

Independent: 57%

Growth: 11%

Conservative: 14%

Traditional: 18%

The Population is still carried by the momentum of the Depression, though at a weaker extent than 5 years prior.

-----------------------------------------

Council (1464-1469)

Independent: 8 Lost three seats, regained two.

Growth: 3 Gained a seat from the Independents (Richard Brown, David Polk, and random guy)

Conservative: 1 Gained a seat from the Traditional Party. (Keith Stanhouse)

Traditional: 1 Lost a seat to the Conservative Party.

I will likely reform the way I am doing council elections; I have been too laissez-faire with the way I have been doing it and seek to reform in when I get home from vacation. I just realized council seats were based purely from incumbency and population values and not taking into account any momentum.

The council elections seemed super fishy...

Decision 1: Our platform resolves around common sense trade alternatives that not only bring in valuable goods from other communities but also goods that are useful in the construction of our own greater community. We will place emphasis on lumber production, fur trapping, agriculture, and stone mining to both rake in profits and expand our city beyond our current borders. We must expand out of the city if we are to continue to grow, and we can do this much easier with an abundance of building materials and food that are necessary for growth.

Jack Colton hereby proposes B.17, which would establish a permanent and non elected position that would oversee the expansion of the outskirts of the city and greater rural development, called the Development Minister, who answers directly to the Sconclair and would oversee execution of legislation regarding the expansion of city borders and life outside the borders.

Additionally, Colton proposes B.18, which would provide a non permanent ferry on the governments dollar to the Seminoles for all those who wish to trade natural resources defined in decision 1. The ferry would run approximately twice a year for twenty years, pending renewal. It would be the first official trade channel with the Seminoles, and the Sconclair will ask the Seminoles for a like gesture in return if this is to pass.

Decision 2: Getting out of our nations first Great Depression is not an easy task, but the Sconclair believes that a very loose hand is necessary for the economy to right itself. Sconclair led intervention has historically been disastrous for our island nation, and the actions of our predecessor clearly show this. We will end repeal all public works programs possible through the Sconclairship, and leave the Public Works Ministry empty of bureaucrats to run it. We will additionally push for a repeal of B.14 if that is possible under the Constitution, but I am not sure of the process there.

Decision 3: Scottsville has grown as a result of non intervention, and by encouraging natural resources to be produced we can expect the city limits to grow exponentially as opposed to former administrations. While others may have focused on refining the city and growing it internally, a naturalist approach should have the highest return. Colton shall additionally establish an exploratory committee for a new city on the island. The committee is to first focus on determining whether or not any explored land is suitable for new settlement, and if not will focus on finding a suitable location in new lands. If a location is found within his term, we will begin to explore what materials would be needed to start a basic settlement, how much we would require to connect the two settlements, incentives to join, etc. The goal is not to settle a new city, but to lay the groundwork for the next administration or second term of Colton to do so if possible.

Special Event: We shall welcome the Seminole nation into our own with open arms, and immediately seek to establish trade relations with them. Additionally, we will offer a permanent home to trade representatives and diplomatic envoys from the nation, and send their envoy back with small gifts to show that we desire cooperation and mutual growth. Most of our trade convoys should be directed towards the Seminole during our term if it is found even to be equally as profitable, and we should try and gain connection with any other nations that they may have trade relations with themselves. We desire a strong relationship with the first nation we've encountered.

Policy 1: The electoral system of Gott-Stein is very vaguely defined in the Constitution, and hence Colton proposes legislation to make elections more transparent. Voting will be done in secret booths set up by an independent agency known as the Electoral Ministry, which will also be responsible for counting vote tallies and party membership registration.

Policy 2: An official investigation will be launched into the Council elections of 1464, as the results are not in line with the general public's opinions and there are widespread rumors of electoral malpractice. Any office that is found to have been awarded as a result of electoral tampering will have its holder immediately evicted, and the seat will remain vacant until the next Council election as the office was gained unconstitutionally.

Policy 3: (No last policy decision will be made as sufficient policy change is covered under the three decisions and two policy changes)

The Status of Gott-Stein (1474)

9th Sconlair: Jack Colton

2nd Vice-Sconlair: Arthur Burns

Country Stability: Crisis

Popularity: 40%; A lot of great things happened this term, but the population's reaction to what they did not like stumped his popularity, as well as the continued economic crisis. So while he is not hated, there is some dislike of him.

-Decision 1: The Sconlair's first decision involved a common sense approach to basic goods, the proposed establishment of a development minister of B.17, and a Seminole ferry of B.18. In regards to his popularity, all three of these things were reflected well within in the population, even though there were worries that creating more big government would worry the populace with the minister, as well as the ferry costing Government dollars the Government simply does not have.

-Decision 2: This decision was based on appealing to a population disgruntled and in despair due to public works. The public, in no surprise, backed both the Sconlair's aggressive end to the bureaucracy and the B.19 which would be proposed to repeal B.14.

-Decision 3: This decision was based on the city; was it time to move out of Gott-Stein? He created two themes here, one of which was to create an exploratory committee, and the other was to remain hands off on laying plans for other cities, instead focusing on the groundwork. However, both initiatives were seen by the population as "a mess", as they were more focused on the economy than expanding. Also, committees must go through a Government bill, which will be proposed as B.20.

-Special Event: This event had everything to do with a group of foreigners called the Seminole. The first action was to be friendly with them and establish trade relationships, which the population hated. The population is very isolationist compared to his decision, but the Sconlair controls all trade, and the country moves towards foreign trade. The second decision was that the Seminole would be offered a sort of embassy relationship, which the population also disagreed with.

-Policy 1: The Sconlair had a mission to make elections more fair and efficient, which is just what he aimed to do in his term. He proposed B.21 to make ballots secret, make party registration along with the ballots, and create an independent electoral commission, which was a success in the eyes of the population.

-Policy 2: The Sconlair also took advantage of the seemingly off electoral results by launching an aggressive investigation into the last election. The people responded positively to this action. The investigation concludes that two of the Growth Party's seats were gained through election fraud, and these two seats will be stripped from the council until the next election.

-Policy 3: N/A

Cities: Scottsville (2,751)

Rural Dwellers: 41

Island Exploration: 29.7% (+2.0%)

The map will be compiled around June 1st through 3rd when I get home. Still on vacation.

Population: 2,792 (120+119) people.

-Additional Notes: Current immigration policies include land, housing, and later more land.

Economy: Greater Depression; The economy is still collapsed, and has shown signs of further decline. It may not be the Sconlair's fault, but the people are holding him accountable for economic instability.

Trade: Trade has finally been organized in the Government, although it is almost nonexistent due to the depression. The Seminole have denied trade since we are too poor to commit it.

Independent: 61%

Growth: 10%

Conservative: 12%

Traditional: 17%

The Party's momentums have all stalled, as the population is dismayed at every single party. Independents begin to regain numbers.

-----------------------------------------

Council (1469-1474)

Independent: 10 Gained two seats.

Growth: 1 (James Kerry)

Conservative: 1 (Lloyd Marks)

Traditional: 1 (A Nobody)

The midterm council has no effect on the votes. This should be worked on, as I am not doing two political cycles for a candidate at this moment in time.

Council of 1464-69 Votes

B.17: 10-2-2 Passed

B.18: 8-4-2 Passed

B.19: 8-3-3 Passed

B.20: 6-0-8 Failed

B.21: 9-3-2 Passed

Election of June 1474 AD

@WVProgressive @Conservative Elector 2 @Illinois Moderate@CalebsParadox@FrancisXKennedy

It is time to state candidacies. The country is in a Greater Depression, and has yet again put complete distrust in the political parties. The Traditional Party still has a greater favor than the others, but as the economic was still awful this pro is outweighed by a con.

Note: Election results will happen 48 hours after this post, or when all people interested in running post their candidate and campaign. If anyone wants to join, you may join as well.

Additional note: The RNG factor hurt Colton a lot; He actually had a decent term in my eyes, but my qualitative mixed with RNG roleplay rules were skewed by the RNG factor, therefore lowering his popularity.

Also, when I get home from vacation, I will build more complex country standings. I did this while still on vacation, but I will still be adding more and more.
