Event 1: Liberals would be willing to offer support for the measure, in exchange for an amendment that states that military technology has to be a primary focus in the US Army.

Event 2: Liberals will sponsor this measure, championed by Sen. Nathaniel Lauss (L-IL), hoping to get a win before he can run for President at some time in the future.

Event 3: We would need to look at any amendments passed to answer further.

Introduction of the Federal Independent Judiciary Act (Co-sponsored in the Judiciary committee by Sen. Lauss (L-IL) and Sen. Hamlin (L-WY))

The bill states that Circuit Court judges would be restricted to 1 term of 15 years before they would be cycled out and new judges would be filled in. It also limits Supreme Court appointments to 20 year terms (at the end of which the President can choose to re-nominate them or choose a new nominee). They are looking for support from Conservatives and Socialists to back the bill. (Nicknamed FIJA)

Soc Lab will support FIJA.

Bill 1 Soc Lab Amendment Proposal: Keep all of the original text and divert funding freed from the decommissioning of troops from active combat into the pursuit of military technologies and other military projects.

Event 1: A bill has just reached the House Floor, which proposes to raise the reserve count to 500,000 through various recruitment drives. However, we will lose up to 50% of our surplus gain to help equip and pay for these reserves.

Rep. Butler(PA-SL) and fellow members of the Libertarian Socialist caucus oppose both the original bill and the amendment proposal from the SLP central committee, and dedicate themselves to block any and all attempts, to increase the size of the military. They especially criticize the central committee for proposing to use the freed funding from the decommissioning of troops to enrich the death merchants of the war industries rather than putting it towards programs to help the average American.

If the FDA has already been created update its powers to allow it to control and supervise recreational drugs and set up rehabilitation centres for all sorts of addictions e.g drugs or tobacco and tax the sale of alcohol, tobacco and drugs.

Sen. William "Big Bill" Hill from Colorado, a leader among the Libertarian Socialist Caucus, applauds the proposed bill but also asks that an oversight committee be made to ensure that this new agency does not end up in the pocket of the wealthy and powerful drug and food industries.

Following the constructive criticism from the Lib Soc Caucus the leadership of the main caucuses (Mixture of all factions) has changed the amendment (OOC: I'm tired today my head is all over the place).

The Leadership of the main caucuses also agrees with the proposal for an oversight committee and has added it to the FDA bill.

Liberals in Congress make overtures to the Conservatives as they believe they are the most likely to end up supporting the passage of the military bill. Liberal leaders are willing to listen to Conservative proposals and will evaluate them once we get them. @Reagan04

After the introductory phase, comes basic legislation originating from unknown members of Congress. Also, I decided to remove committees from the bill process of event bills.

1969 Debate/Amendment Phase

Event 1: A bill has just reached the House Floor, which proposes to raise the reserve count to 500,000 through various recruitment drives. However, we will lose up to 50% of our surplus gain to help equip and pay for these reserves.

Event 2: A concurrent resolution has just reached the Senate Floor, which makes it a message of Congress that steps should be taken to allow the gradual decolonization of occupied areas, as long as they are transitioned into a well-functioning democracy.

Event 3: A bill has just reached the Senate Floor, which allows for the creation of the DEA, supervised under the Attorney General, to enforce any drug laws created by Congress.

These bills are bland for a reason; go through whatever processes you choose, and propose amendments. Don't need to vote on other Amendments yet, as there will be a separate phase for that. This is also a time where each party can introduce ONE bill to whichever Congressional body's committee they choose.

@Reagan04 @Hestia11 @MBDemSoc @WVProgressive

1. The Conservatives support the Liberal Amendment @Hestia11. We are happy to see bipartisan support done and Senator Nord himself would like to cosponsor the Amendment. The Nord-Mint Amendment would stipulate an increase of 300,000 instead of 500,000 and the remaining money that would be used would be added onto R&D. We'd like to see technology take the forefront.

2. The Conservatives oppose this Resolution as we don't see it as the place of Congress to tell our allies to decolonize. The State Department can do what it wishes but the Conservative Party offers that the bill be passed in a watered down form to only stipulate the use of democracy monitors should an ally, of its own volition, choose to decolonize. This simply isn't worth making a fuss about when we need to keep our allies as close as possible. Sen. Frankowitz introduces the amendment with the support of Senator Edwards, both of whom are seen as strong ideological leaders in their fields.

3. Sen. Chalcedon champions this bill which she has introduced. The Conservatives also wish to give the DEA sweeping powers to assist states in enforcing their laws. The bill would also classify Marijuana, Cocaine, Heroin, LSD, and other illicit Narcotics and Opiates as dangerous substances corrupting the youth and would be cracked down on sales. Sen. Anagnos (NY) tags on the rehab centers and amnesty for those that enlist in supervised care onto the bill in exchange for Moderate support for Hawkish drug enforcement.

4. The Conservatives will not support FIJA as we have never believed in terms for Judges.

5. Rep. McDowell introduces the Verified Abstinence in Largely Uneducated Environments of Sex or VALUES Act of 1969. The Act would provide Federal grants to states which mandate abstinence only education and support the Traditional Definitions of Sex and other topics which the next generation faces as it grows into the newest American Adults. The program proposed by CGA Vice Chair Gov. Mark Lens has been disseminated to all 52 state legislatures and has been proposed in every state as many have passed it and some still wait on it. The program includes Anti-Drug, Anti-Fornication, and Anti-Sodomy language into the classrooms of America. The VALUES Act would give federal funding to states which pass this comprehensive Sex Ed program and is championed by Rep. McDowell and Gov. Lens as a major achievement, garnering support from all corners of the Conservative Party.

The so called "VALUES Act" energizes the Libertarian Socialist Caucuses, who dedicates themselves to making sure the bill fails. Rep. Pete Ochs, secretary for the house caucus calls the idea that one should be hated or shamed because of their sex life with another consenting adult, both perverted, and un-American, and calls the programme akin to indoctrination.

Rep. Beverley LaHaye (CA-35), a stewardess of the Values Act, responds on behalf of the Evangelical Caucus and the Conservative Party which stand united on this key issue. She approaches the podium in the CCC press room wearing a finely pressed Blue Pantsuit and a pearl necklace that has been passed through her family's women for generations.

"Thank you ladies and gentlemen for sitting down and allowing me to respond to Mr. Ochs' outrageous and frankly dangerous remarks regarding the Values Act. Firstly, let's get it clear when I unequivocally state that this bill is about the children, period. Mr. McDowell and countless other thoughtful Conservative defenders of the family carefully crafted this bill to support the  Lens Plan, a comprehensive Educational program that protect our children from a growing menace, the anti-family element growing in our nation. The Lens Plan includes pro-abstinence and anti-drug language that will serve as a beacon of moral light in our classrooms. To be clear, the Values Act does not mandate the Lens Plan as education is not a federalized service, but it encourages states to adopt it in their individual education systems by offering grants to support the development of our children's strong sense of morality. That's our duty as a nation and as parents to provide. I know from experience, I have 4 kids back home in Oceanside, California and my husband, Rev. Tim LaHaye has touched so many children in his ministry across San Diego. That's why I ran for Congress, to protect the kids in my district and across the nation. This plan does just that. The Lens Plan was piloted in Indiana to great success and has spread to 24 of the 52 states including the state of California, we hope to make it standard in every school around the nation. Our message to the Socialists and to Mr. Ochs is simple, to call this plan, a plan of protecting children and defending our families perverted is downright wrong. To call it unAmerican indoctrination is quite frankly an embarrassing insult to the millions of American Parents and grandparents struggling to raise good and upright children in the modern era. This is an issue personal to my heart and to the hearts of teachers, parents, and guardians across the nation. The people have spoken and the majority of Americans polled favor the Lens Plan (OOC: This data from period polling about individual factors + adjustment for RP lore). I call on the Socialists to stand with the American family and its children, and to stand with God and His plan for our great nation. This is about defending the children, and if we can't agree on that most simple yet core tenet to our republic, then I don't know on what we can. For a nation which cares not for its children disregards its future. Thank you everyone and God Bless you. I will now take questions."

OOC: Protect the children from corruption through brainwashing. A popular tactic, tried and true - but always a social disaster and failure in the end. Eventually, one of those students is going to break the mold and realize 1+1=2 - not 3!

The Libertarian Socialist Caucus issues a short official statement in response to Rep. LaHaye.

"The Conservative Parties attempts to legislate morality discussed in false holiness is despicable, and a violation of the first amendment. The LSC will continue to fight for freedom of conscience. Mrs Lehaye stated that a country that doesn't care for their children disregards its future, and she's quite correct, which is why this bill must fail, lest this country become no better than the ancien regime it fought against to win its independence. This country is a land for all peoples, not just straight Christian married folk, and the Socialists will continue to fight for this ideal, in spite of reactionary hysteria."

Secretary of State Charles Winchester(L-NY) announces his intent to run for Governor of New York in the midterms election.

The rumors that are flowing is that the Secretary is unhappy with the Vice President and he has already voiced his opinons and concern to the President. Winchester has been seen as one of the president biggest supporters inside the party but has been less supportive of the Vice President.

This might be Winchester first step to a presidental run.

Secretary of the House Crusader Caucus, of the Libertarian wing of the party, Rep. Lawrence Acris (NY-9) announces his candidacy for Governor of New York in 1970 on the steps of his home in Astoria, Queens. Rep. Acris is a known zany fellow and is certain to bring a certain element of charisma and question to the race, he grabbed his seat in a large upset in 1962 and has won by thin margins ever since, he is certain to make an interesting inclusion into the race as he is the presumptive nominee given Secretary of the Senate Moderate Caucus Sen. Anagnos' intention to run for re-election in 1970. Perhaps the widely popular Anagnos can help carry Rep. Acris to victory?

(OOC: Acris based on Larry Sharpe and Anagnos on George Pataki, both irl NY Politicians with similar views to their RP counterparts.)

(OOC: Little information about the secretary and Winchester has in more or less given a ultimatium to the president so he wont run if the VP resign)

Secretary of State Charles Winchester is member of the wealthy Winchester family. His father did serve as governor and was very popular and his popularity helped Charles getting elect to the senate where he did serve 2 terms before he was announced as new Secretary of State. His familys huge popularty in the state will benefit him and rumors is that his father will help him on the campaign trail that will also help him. But the Secretary has told the press that if the preseident wants him to stay she know what to do.

There are rumors of dumping VP Erring in support of a New Way Senator such as Lauss or Hamlin. They are worried Erring is too much of a weight on re-election and that he has been working against her in government.

Right before the vote, Sen. Nick Dallorum, Conservative Senate Whip (C-PA) and Sen. Heidi Chalcedon Chairwoman of Senate Evangelical Caucus and Sponsor of S.B. 002 as well as amendments A and B (C-TX) take the Liberal Senate Whip aside. @Hestia11

We would like to discuss the offer made by us during the amending period, we vote for Amendment C if you vote for Amendments A and B. We'd like to see another bi-partisan display of us keeping the people safe and their interests in front, just like we did with the military bill. To have the 3 amendments pass soaringly would be a major win for both parties and for the nation.
