Today is a dark and dire centennial, but one that should be a message to anti-vaxxers, proponents of purely private and profit-driven, exception-ridden, bizarrely complicated, or otherwise unworkable or uninclusive health care plans, and/or protection of pharmaceutical corporations jacked-up profit margins with medicinal copyright laws to create longer times until generic medications are available and harsher penalties for using them outside such profit protection.

100 years ago today, the first verified case of the Spanish Flu hit Fort Riley, Kansas...

Two of my grandmother's older siblings died of the Spanish Flu in Texas during that epidemic. They died on the same day in 1918 or 1919.
