I am now backing mia love to enter the race and run and or huntsman who ever can defeat romney hell if the democrat who runs against romney is a blue dog i might support him or her over romney if not then a third party. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/02/us/politics/orrin-hatch-retiring-romney-trump.html?_r=0

Unless Mitt Romney, is a closeted abortion loving homosexual that swore allegiance to ISIS, there is no way Utah will not vote for him(if he runs). If I recall, he is insanely popular in that state, despite ranging from 'meh' to 'oh god him?' across the nation. Makes sense: a successful mormon that saved the 2002 Olympics(which were held in Utah! and I think the last Olympic games to turn a profit)-along with being a CEO of a major finance firm, and a republican governor in a red state. But if Romney runs, and Huntsman also runs, that will be a nasty primary due to their personal animosity towards each other.

But I'm not even sure if there's even a Democrat that is strong enough to make a serious bid for the seat. The only Dem I know from Utah is Jim Matherson, and he lost to Mia Love nearly 4 years ago; and I doubt he wants to risk losing to Mitt Romney.

Now if Romney wins, I wonder if he would back Mitch McConnell in being Senate majority leader? that will be an interesting question that I would look forward to see being answered.

romney the carpetbanging can be all of those things and still win if god himself can run as a democrat and still lose against the Michigan born governor of Massachusetts in a utah senate race ((carpet banging is something i am against))

I hope Jon Huntsman runs for the seat, and then for president in 2020 or 2024. Bring sanity and respectability back to the Republican Party. Alternatively, I'd like to see him run as an independent.

Well, he does have an established history of opportunistic flip-flopping and really out-of-touch gaffes.

When did you have a hallucination or delusion that God ran for political office in an Earthly nation as a member of the United States Democratic Party?

I'd love to Huntsman become the Senator, but I doubt he would win the nomination. Semi on topic, here's a politico article detailing the feud between Mitt and Jon. https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/06/romney-huntsman-mormon-rivals-119515

Huntsman would out-Mormon Romney, since Huntsman, as far as I know, has always hailed from Utah. He was also a really good governor for that state.

I can confirm that this is the only account that I have, unless you meant it as a joke. (Just because he has a Pepe picture doesn't mean it's me)

Correct, he sent out a tweet encouraging Mitt to run as soon as Hatch announced his retirement.

Personally, I think it'll be interesting to see Romney in the Senate. Although I do think this completes his shift from Moderate Mitt to Conservative Mitt.

Personally, I think we need a centrist direction for the Democrats, since all the Liberal Republicans are either dead or prehistoric now. Someone like John Bel Edwards.

You're the second person on this thread to bring up the name, but I have no idea whatsoever who that is.

Apparently she's a US Rep for Utah's fourth district.

She is a black female Tea Party Republican Congresswoman from Utah's 4th. The reason I mention her demographics is because she was one of the first to jump on Michelle Obama calling the GOP a party for old white men.
