Before I begin this I'm curious how many would be interested in this fictional series. In this series there's a referendum to succeed from the US on the ballots of the NY-NJ-CT Tri-State area it passes and the U.S lets it secede (no matter how unrealistic that would be)

There would be a few elections

Tri-state area secession referendum,2018 (PMI, I wish to seperate the counties into geographic zones)

Tri-State area Presidential election,2019 (PI)

Tri-State area Unicameral legislative body election,2019 (CI)

Tri-State area currency referendum(whether to ditch the U.S dollar),2020

Tri-State area local Govt. elections,2021 (CI)

I'm curious what you guys think of this.

What are the reasons for secession? Just to "stick it to the man?" Or are there deeper-seated issues I'm not aware?

A variety of things actually including

- Various actions by President Trump especially those immigration related

- Corruption especially in NY

- Sessions's approach to Criminal Justice

- An economic turmoil that Trump triggers by attacking North Korea in this timeline and Trump's refusal to expand services to take care of these people

- The application of taxes and finanical burdens on the area by legislation like an amendment proposed by Upstate House Reps to unofficially make NYC pay for their stuff(See: Collins-faso amendment which would have forced the state to pay for local counties outside of NYC's health care costs almost invariably by taxing NYC heavily.)

Funny thing is, my hypothetical future vision I've made a number of threads around, that goes up to the 2050's or so, and would (ideally) involve numerous pivotal elections across the globe, and involves major changes to the geopolitical landscape (including, but certainly not limited to the secession of U.S. States), and eventually, by necessity, had gone into the realm along it's timeline of all candidates and other leaders being completely fictitious, never actually did have the Tri-State Area secede from the "rump" United States, if you will.

In the timeline the proposal was organized on seperate local ballots by the County electoral commissions.

I'll write a backstory for it soon.

I will probably, at some point, return to my hypothetical future set-up, though it is planned to be quite involved, cover a lot of elections around the world over several decades and go into the realm outright fictitious candidates, and take a notable few liberties.

I'm going to try to be realistic in my scenarios.

Well, too much cleaving to what's known and likely wouldn't make one a good prophet or oracle in the real world, would it? Who predicted WW1 in anywhere near how and when it actually unfolded even a month before Gavrilo Princip, a man no one outside his personal inner circle of family, friends, co-workers, and co-conspirators, had previously ever even heard of, shot Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie in Sarajevo?

But, in my case, because my series goes to the 2050's and through various political tumults along it's whole timeline, fictional candidates are needed - in fact, after a while, RL ones running or even being prominent at all becomes unrealistic.

Speaking of such, where does one get those lovely, interactable World Maps where you fill in National and Sub-National borders different colours to create alternate history or hypothetical future maps? I'd just love one of those to have a world map for my hypothetical future timeline as of 2048.

When I can I use http://d-maps.com/ for map templates.(I couldn't for the tri-state one so I had to make it myself.)

I don't think these are what I'm looking for. There's a site or sites somewhere that has maps where you click on national or sub-national units to fill them in with different colours for people who create alternate history and hypothetical future political maps.
