That's what got me thinking of it.

You see, starting in the 2030's (and certainly the 2040's), the global order changes drastically, and leads to a major realignment. With the collapse of the EU completely, the political fracturing of the U.S. into several successor nations, the return of a "New Communism" by the sale of the nostalgia of a "mythical, fair-tale, era of prosperity, pride, power, and strength" in many (but not all) of the former Soviet and Warsaw Pact nations (especially the loss of United Russia's grip on power after Putin's surprise resignation from politics an internal power struggle between five top would-be successors (including Chechen strongman Ramzon as one of them) cripples the parties power), and the rise of this new Caliphate in the post-oil Middle East, and many other events besides. But I do have an idea of where Israel would be headed in that regard.

Israel would probably be the last mildly stable country in the region.

Yes. It becomes a pivotal member of a loose military and political alliance called the Mediterranean Alliance by 2048.

Also, the situation in France becomes VERY important, and highly contributes to the many woes that start hitting the timeline and hypothetical future setting, especially within Europe, and lending a major hand in the demise of the EU...

As I've said, I'm taking a number of "dramatic liberties" with the plot to make it interesting, and not sticking to the most staunchly plausible scenario (but not outright impossible)...

Although this is not the "official" working project, I had some more ideas for some events during this scenario.

-The brazen assassination of the Governor of New York (who would be fictitious) and the subsequent impeachment of his scandal-ridden Lieutenant Governor (also fictitious) thrusts the State into an unplanned and inauspicious special election in 2028 as well, as the third-in-line, the Speaker of the State Assembly, feels unconfident about holding office until 2030 without an elected mandate, and thus passes the bill to call the election.

-A massive power blackout affecting most of New England, the Mid-Atlantic, and the Rust Belt (as well as Southern Ontario and Quebec, and New Brunswick in Canada) during live broadcast of the Super Bowl brings the issue of the management, efficiency, reliability, and viability of the current mass power grid to the fore.

-A Sovereigntist Monarchist Hawaiian Governor, elected in 2026, begins moving toward a peaceful, legal, and procedural push to try and reinstate the Constitutional Kingdom of Hawaii as a sovereign nation that existed between 1840 and 1893, initiating a complex, intricate, and very controversial administrative move.

-Major General Juarez Villarjos Carto, a Bolivian-born naturalized U.S. citizen and former U.S. Marine Corps and Dallas City Police Officer, has returned to Bolivia, leading a well-armed military that topples the left-wing government of Morelos' successor, establishing a brutal, military authoritarian right-wing police state "interim government." Though many believe (including many American journalists, political commentators, NGO members, conspiracy theorists, and a few opposition politicians), that he is a card-holding member of the CIA and playing the role Noriega did in Panama in the '80's before being declared "inconvenient" by the George H.W. Bush Administration, the Rubio Administration all ties, support, or connection with Villarjos' de facto regime. Restoration Party founder and declared Third Party candidate Arthur Greene coyly, but cryptically, declares only that, "obviously Villarjos is far too effective to be a Rubio puppet."

More to come shortly.

The simple fact that this does not involve the aftermath of a war with North Korea, 13 million people losing health insurance, a dissolving social safety net, and blue states forced to increase taxes or cut services makes it feel somewhat optimistic, all things considered.

There are, of course, many details I haven't filled in yet. It's 11 years in the hypothetical future, after all. The optimism is not as great as you think from the "select bits and bites" I've presented.

Sounds good. I could come up with some possible names.

Alright, as I had hinted at previously, Vladimir Putin announces prior to the 2028 Russian Presidential Election his full retirement from politics. The governing United Russia, having, by that point, held almost total political for 25 years, now becomes sharply divided in a political succession struggle for leadership of the party between five powerful contenders - former Russian President, and several times Prime Minister, and close friend and protégé of Putin, Dmitri Medvedev; former Governor of Saint Petersburg, twice Chairwoman of the Federation Council (or the upper house of the Russian Parliament to the State Duma), author of the "Anti-Homosexual Propaganda Act," and arguably the most powerful in Russia, Valentina Matviyenko; long-standing Russian Foreign Minister and former Ambassador of Russia to the United Nations, Sergei Lavrov; Head of the Government of the Chechen Republic, proxy strongman and enforcer of order in that Federal Subject, and more disproportionately powerful in Federal Politics than any other sitting Governor, Mayor, or Republic Head of any other Federal Subject, Ramzan Kadyrov; and one other undetermined, possibly a fictitious one. This monolithic party ready to tear itself apart on the onset of the upcoming elections for Russian President are seen as a golden opportunity by various opposition parties in Russia, especially the revitalized Communist Party of the Russian Federation, under their new and more vibrant and charismatic leader Yuri Marcenko (fictitious), who intends to pull no punches. A separate scenario for this election will be in the offing in the whole series of scenarios, certainly, but the turmoil going into this pivotal and major election will also appear as a major event in the specific scenario in this series addressed in the thread title.

Just as a note for the future of this whole hypothetical future series of scenarios as a whole, because I had recently mentioned it in another thread as a matter that will be dealt with and significant, the concept for Lunar and Martian colonies originally starts as somewhat of a "land grab." Between the two Celestial Bodies, the United States, China, Japan, Russia, India, France, the UK, Brazil, and Australia all set up one or more colonies one or both spheres (demanding on which nation in question). Also, a wealthy private corporation named Lunacorp founded by an African-American billionaire named Daniel Skye (who serves as it's first CEO) with a multinational team of employees, sets up his own colonies and manages to gain enough clout to effectively proclaim his settlements de facto sovereign and self-governing, in allegiance to no nation on Earth. Also, two "colonists' societies" of mixed-nationality each set up a colonial complex on the even further away Mars with the full intent of creating fully-independent and self-determining societies, each of the two promoting new vanguard-style, but unusual and fringe,  socio-political viewpoints from each other and the vast majority on Earth.

Dnot rand Paul got a son who could run?

I'm not doing endless dynasty politics in this hypothetical future series. After a certain point, all candidates will be fictitious. This isn't JohnnyK's Confederacy series.

You could have him as a endorser

Just that's automatically assuming he goes into politics, like the children of prominent political leaders often are just assumed such, notably by hypothetical future and alternate history authors. But I worked with the son of Lawrence Decore, one of the most beloved Mayors of Edmonton and then, later, the most successful leader of the Liberal Party of Alberta since the party's drop in popularity in the province over the P.E. Trudeau-Lougheed row over the NEP. He told me he could have been a show-in into city or provincial politics because of his father, and he implied he have been asked or even pressured by some to take up a political based on his family. He never did go into politics...
