Spain scenario :P

Recommended Posts

Well...I live in Spain and I was trying to make a scenario on Spain :P (as I allready saw on the UK, France and Ukraine). I know more or less how to do it all :D, but I get stuck with the map... <_<, can someone help me on that or explain it to me? :P or stick me a map which I can use... :(

Well, first of all obviously you need to a create a map. You should be able to find a map of Spain somewhere on the internet, and one that's already broken down into regions would be the best choice. Then using a picture editing program, like Photoshop, you have to fill the regions all one color and make sure there is a pure black line round each one.

After that's done, you need to find the co-ordinates for each region. For every area surrounded by black lines, you just need to get a co-ordinate from within that area (doesn't matter where) and then put into the region_variables.p4e file, under the relevant region heading. Also, there needs to be a black dot on the map at 193,169.

That's basically what you have to do, you just need to make sure that there are no holes or gaps in the black lines anywhere, otherwise the map won't work. If you go into the games help files, there's also a better explaination.

Okey, I will try that, I hope it goes on ok ;)

Brace yourself for frustration if my very limited experience in map creation is anything to go by ;)

:unsure: ...can someone help? :S I just finished changing the data of the 15 states there was already in the *.p4e file, and when I get to add new ones, I do it but they don't get recognized in the map after -_-UuuU -> :(

It looks as it doesn't recognize the new states i'm entering :(

you need to change the location of the state. In the region_variables file there is a list of map coordinates with each state. if you open the Map file and move your cursor around you should see a pair of coordinates in the bottom of the screen. you need to put the coordinates where your new state is (in the region_variables file) that corresponds with the coordinates you see on the map.

Yeah, that I've done. I've tested the parts that I have done, and everyrthing seems to be working. The file I was editing had 15 states, but the problem is when I add new ones, they don't appear on the map after.

I will try in 1 min to put the regional_variables.p4e code

The two states at the bottom of the file: "Comunitat Valenciana" and "Region de Murcia" are the ones which don't work. Because every time I finish a state or two I open the game, and the rest of them are working on the map. The last two don't appear on the map coloured.

ok. first check to make sure your locations are right. then check to make sure the lines are completely filled in. oh oh I think I know what the problem is! Open the electoral trends file and make sure the number of "states" is equal to your number. if it's too small it just won't register the extra ones.

yeah! I think you've got it!

I've just found on the electoral trends file a place where it says the number of states, which is lower than the other one :P, and I've never seen it, you've just told me that and I've started to check line by line and found it.

Many Thanks!

(haha, just a basic mistake, but this is my first scenario)

I think it will work now. It has to be that because the locations are OK, and the new states are on the electoral trends file.

no problem. I had that same problem when I was making my europe map and it took me forever to figure it out. glad I could save you several hours of frustration.
