I'd actually disagree re: the populist left. Both Spain and France have had their (actually fairly moderate) Socialist parties lose ground to more radical or populist left groupings - Podemos in Spain, and Jean-Luc Melenchon's party in France. Sinn Fein have replaced Labour as the largest left-of-center party in Ireland. And I'm not sure if it's exactly an example of populism, but in the Netherlands, I think the Socialists are further left than - and now ahead of - Labour, plus there was the surprisingly strong showing by the GreenLeft.

It hasn't been as stark as the emergence of the nationalist right, but alternative left-leaning parties do seem to be gaining at the expense of more established center-left parties.

Also, every country on the continent of South America except Paraguay and Colombia either have in government or in a very significant position of political strength a left-wing populist party.

kind make you wonder how the hell someone could f*** up this badly when you have start with a 20 point leads (basic me in everything 270 soft game i play.)) i mean to to make it look like to win a landslide (my 1920 when i ended up losing the pv and barely winning the ec as republican)).

btw wtf how did diana abbot majority increase i am calling voter fraud there is no way ANYONE WHO IS SANE after a terrorist attack would vote for her she is the dumbest person if you re left or right you should agree with the fact that abbot is dumb and i am starting questioning her mental health.

It has to be one of the worst run campaigns ever run in British and maybe European history.

The Tories ran an very bad campaign

Yep. Got to the point where even me, a hardcore tory (not really, ahaha, but I'd vote them over Labour) ended up spoiling my ballot. I'm hoping May won't last this week, hopefully David Davis becomes the new PM and we'll get snap election called by October.

Would you rather have Davis or Johnson?

Also, if another election was called and Nigel Farage becomes leader of UKIP again, do you think they could recover some of their lost votes?

I'd probably support BNP first and then UKIP second and then Tories third. I am not a brit though.

I could see UKIP becoming a big party if they followed the same platform as the Danish Peoples Party. The DPP are center left on economic policy and right wing on immigration and culture. That'd hit well with the nationalist/traditionalist part of the British working class, who has no party that is 100% them right now. Trump also followed that strategy when he flipped MI, PA, WI. These three states are 80% White, and the U.K should be 80%(or even more idk) white aswell. It'd also be a strategy that'd go well with elderly voters as they tend to be nationalistic/traditionalistic in Britain, but economically left as they're dependent on the state to survive.

Davis. Great credible guy, no previous huge gaffes and generally likable and true to his values. He even resigned over tory support of torture a while ago. Johnson is fine but Davis is much more viable and would bring in more voters, Johnson would probably be seen as the funny PM who everyone loves which is all fine but I don't know if he'd suffer the same fate as Cameron. Being likable but people disliking his policies.

Recover entirely? No. They would need to rebrand and try to reshape the party.

Would UKIP be competitive in certain seats such as South Thanet or Clacton again?

Where do you see Farage standing if he takes over the party?  Or do you think he will stay in the European Parliament (the decision he made for this election)?

He will stay in the EU parliament, serves UKIP's purpose more and has better pay :P

Won't he lose that job when Brexit is fully negotiated? I mean won't his European Parliament seat (and all British European Parliament) seats, cease to exist?

This guy got more votes then the ukip guy on another note. p/s this guy needed to be added in the next update.

Lord Buckethead didn't quite manage as many votes as the UKIP candidate: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maidenhead_(UK_Parliament_constituency)#Elections_in_the_2010s

Not a bad result, though :D.

I believe that UK MEP's will still get their pensions, with Nigel Farage having been in the parliament for sometime. I've also seen him frequently on Fox news, which is presumably another source of income.

Yep. I'd imagine his time in politics would be done by then though

If Brexit is completed to his satisfaction, then I agree.  But, if there is a backslide, which Nigel is predicting, I doubt that would be the end.

At last, someone from the populist left succeded.

Althoug he aint PM he still stopped the tories from getting a majority, which is good 'cause that'll cause them to make compromises.

Although, a coalition/agreement with the DUP might be more on the right than a Tory majority.
