What are your thoughts on the things for the past that have come back for the nominees this past day?

Recommended Posts

I'm referring primarily to Trump and the 2005 tape where he disgustingly talks about women and harassing them/trying to make a married woman have sex with him,  and Clinton with her backroom speeches about overwhelmingly supporting free trade and having a public and separate personal position on issues.

It didn't surprise me at all. As I always said I am not 100 % happy with Trump, but I simply could not vote for Clinton. Therefore I'd still cast my ballot for Trump but apparently a bit more teeth-gnashingly than before.

Trump apologized, you honestly don't think politicians talk about like that behind closed doors? Clintons scandal (this time) Is about our country and is serious.

Drumpf's campaign for president is OVER, and thank God! In the past day over 10 Republican senators and governors who endorsed Trump have withdrawn endorsements and called on him to drop out. This is unprecedented, do you Trumpers really think he has any chance now when Madame President was already dominating the polls? Dodged a bullet here, America!

I'm more bothered by the fact that this is the first time Trump has apologized in his whole campaign. He seemed angry in his apology (not at himself). His apology wasn't even a real apology, since it was insincere, untrue (says he is no longer like that, despite comments bordering that throughout the campaign), and then he turned it on the Clintons.

I think if I were a woman, I'd be livid. I'm definitely disgusted by the comments, but to me, they're so expected from him, that I'm not in the least surprised, and almost numb to it, because it's so Trump.

As for Clinton, the leaks, sort of like with Trump, just reinforce things already known about her. I've always known she was free trade and connected to the financial sectors. I think about every politician is, so it doesn't surprise me.

If I had to give both candidates a number, similar to the relationship meter in this game, it would be like this:

Clinton from 50 to 20 to 10 (still voting for her)

Trump from -80 to -90 (obviously still opposing him).

Just in case you're curious:

Sanders went from 75 to 95, after endorsing Clinton despite his supporters defiance (he would have to be less idealistic for a 100)

Stein 0 (was a 40 at the beginning of the election, but she's been embarrassingly irrational)

Johnson -5 for dumb comments (was a 0) Weld went from 0 to 25 for me, but he's a VP nominee.

Kasich went from 0 to 10.

Cruz is a -100 (worse than Trump)

Rubio is a 0

I think what he said reveals a lot about his character that an apology does not rectify. And his "apology" was halfhearted and really only used as a medium to attack Bill Clinton, who really should not be such a focus on this election, and it's ridiculous to have Clinton answer for everything her husband did. If the apology had been just that, an apology, perhaps I could have seen it as meaningful but it was far from it. His willingness to abuse his status and impose himself on women, married women and women in relationships, shows a lot about his character and makes me worry about the abuse of power he could have as our commander-in-chief.

Clinton's leaked speeches are bad as well, don't get me wrong. A presidential candidate has a duty to their people to be honest about their intentions and their platform, and fulfill campaign promises that they made. This makes me question her willingness to abide by her platform even more than it did before, and it's obvious that she has her own interests in mind still. However, keeping in mind that the leaks have not been out for long and it's possible we don't have the full story, I will retain a proper denouncement for a few days, though I'm not hopeful. Although, if I'm being completely honest, it was hardly unexpected.

Both candidates are simply far too corrupt and of questionable moral character for this to have major long term effects for Clinton, though Trump may face a further drop in the polls primarily due to women.

No. No they aren't. The content of those speeches made me like her even more. Every single position is well thought out and totally defensible. Hillary Clinton is an intelligent lady with nuanced positions, who woulda thought? Most of wikileaks' spin is taking things out of context or really just jumping to conclusions that they want. A reading of the transcript shows a fairly normal speech. There is no equivalency between this and Trump's audio.

There is a part about Clinton being more favorable to "single payer" which actually helps her among the Democratic base

The part which could hurt is her admitting she is "out of touch" but she can spin that by saying "During this run for President, I had to learn how to be in touch again with the American people" and turn it into a positive...

The public and private position on policy part is a nothingburger because everyone knows you can't always get what you want

Clinton's comments about Wall Street are basically blaming Wall Street for not being responsible. I'm not sure anything is wrong with that. In fact, she's the one who can make them and actually get them to change their act as POTUS. Nothing wrong with talking about TR's Square Deal and contrasting that with Trump's free-for-all carnivore capitalism

The people who know the financial industry the best ARE the people who work in the industry. Again, she can simply say "they were irresponsible, I told them that numerous times, and as President, with the help of Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and the Democrats, I can make them responsible again."

She's trying to sell single-payer to the finance industry. She wants the Americas to eventually have the same kind of free movement as the EU. She says she agrees with the old "sausage-making" metaphor for policymaking. She's dreams of clean energy. What's so bad about this?

Nah. I humored you before, this time it's really and truly over for Drumpf.

Nice little side show while it lasted though.

You have about a month to get use to saying Madame President, start practicing or get in your basket!

I just want to say to everyone on this thread that I've heard an old idiom (it might be mostly Canadian and British, as those are the circle of politics I've mostly heard it in, though), that is a comparison for something being "as insincere as a politician's apology." That being said, Trump always struck me as a smarmy, smug, and sleasey individual, even back when he was just starting to open casinos and hotels and selling Commodore computers back in the '80's. Really, the biggest fear that I have about that Clinton speech is "single-payer across the Americas." Here in Canada, we already has a better system of public healthcare in place by far and I worry about us being pressured to down downgrade to a mean, hemispheric average. ;)  Now, despite Trump trying to drag him down with his "apology," what will be Bill Clinton's almost inevitable, it seems, tile come inauguration? Is it "First Gentleman?" I'm not even sure...

Scottie Nell Hughes says it all, Trumps comments are deplorable but pale in comparison to Hillarys past of rape silencing and crimes against women. @Kauai

Aren't you late for your 9/11 truth and anti-illuminati meeting? Conspiracy theories vs. actual, cold, hard facts and video.

Quote

Harth and her longtime boyfriend were in meetings with Trump to forge a business partnership. “He was relentless,” Harth recalled in an interview, describing how on Dec. 12, 1992, he took the couple to dinner and a club — and then situated himself beside Harth and ran his hands up her skirt, to her crotch. “I didn’t know how to handle it. I would go away from him and say I have to go to the restroom. It was the escape route.”

We’ve all heard of Trump’s unethical or loutish behavior, most recently in a 2005 recording unearthed by The Washington Post on Friday in which he boasts of kissing and groping women. The story that Harth and the boyfriend, George Houraney, tell of their interactions with Trump over six years — including business cheating and attempted rape — shows how that predation worked in practice. “He name-dropped continuously,” Harth said under oath in a deposition in a subsequent lawsuit, “when he wasn’t groping me.”

Get in your basket! Oh, and better start getting ready to say 'Madame President'.

The only thing that's going to bring you back to reality is the banner on Faux News this November that says 'HILLARY CLINTON ELECTED FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT'.

See you then.

Amen. I still remain more bothered by what Hillary has done a couple years ago, then what Trump has said more than a decade ago.

Not all Republicans are spineless idiots. And all this outrage over Trump's tapes, have fortified my support for Trump. In fact, all of you should know, multiple reports coming out show Trump's lead INCREASING. http://m.townhall.com/tipsheet/justinholcomb/2016/10/08/michelle-bachmann-trump-audio-leaks-coordinated-to-manipulate-the-media-n2229639

Hi, Deplorable Dallas here. Nice to meet you. Proud to say Trump's lead has increased, and not all Republicans are spineless. http://m.townhall.com/tipsheet/justinholcomb/2016/10/08/michelle-bachmann-trump-audio-leaks-coordinated-to-manipulate-the-media-n2229639

Dear Leader Trump can say as he pleases and his loyal, obedient followers must obey and support him unconditionally regardless, for he is greater than mere mortals and incapable of error or failing.:(

Ignoring your other comment, I'm genuinely curious to see these polls that say Donald Trump's non-existent lead has increased? Your link says nothing about it.

All of these were pre-pussygate, btw. Can't wait to see Drumpf collapse further!
